“Just in case you ever need to come in here, I would feel a lot better if you know your way around a little.” Mack explains and I give them a tour of the house.
Kay gives me a strange look when he sees the keypad on the attic door, but suddenly he seems to remember why it is there and we continue our tour of the house.
Mack has been beside me every step of the way, he hadn’t seen everything yet either and I point to were my room is when Levi asks. “This is a guestroom, this will become one now that Dad is moving into the Pack-house and here are to more guestrooms.” I say as I point at each door.
“This is a storage room and this is my work space.” I say as I open the last door on the right, I step aside to allow them to walk in and I lean against the doorframe as the guys look around.
“What is this?” Kay asks as he holds up a binder, I recognize it as an essay I once made for school and something tells me the contents is important. I can’t seemto remember what might be in there that could be important to me, but I tell myself to take a look at it tomorrow after the fitting session.
“An essay I had to make in school, I believe it was on the Mate-bond or something like that.” I answer and he places it back on the shelf where he found it.
After we say goodnight to Kay and Levi we walk back up to my room, Mack has checked every door and window and he made sure they are all locked. He doesn’t want to risk anyone getting in here, not that anyone in their right mind would think about entering the house of one of their Assassins and I smile as I watch him walking in and out of every room upstairs.
Once we have finished our evening ritual we crawl into bed, both of us fast asleep in seconds.
I wake in the morning as Mack is getting out of bed, “Go back to sleep, Angel. It is still early, Levi will be here in a few minutes to keep an eye on things and accompany you to the fitting session.” Mack whispers before he kisses me on my forehead and I enjoy the feeling of the sparks the moment his lips touch my skin.
I try to get back to sleep after he has left the room, but something tells me to get the essay from my office and after tossing and turning for a while I get out of bed.
Maleah’s p.o.v.
Levi and Mack are talking downstairs and I quietly walk to my office to get the essay, I need to find out what I forgot about it. Fortune is still somewhere deep in the back of my mind and she is not responding to any of my questions, looks like I have to figure this out on my own.
Before I can close the door to my bedroom I hear the front door close and I feel a little sad that Mack has left for the day, but it isn’t as bad as I had thought.
I sit down on my bed with the essay on my lap and I try to remember the contents after I have read the title, Do only multiples share a Mate? I let my mind wander back to the classes I had on the Mate-bond, but at first I can’t remember much of those classes and I start to wonder if those classes had been too boring for me to pay attention.
I remember the teacher explaining the difference between a Mate-bond from the old days and now a days, but there is not much there that interested me.
My heart starts beating a little faster when I remember the teacher talking about the War that happened once everyone realized the Mate-bond was gone, she mentioned something about females getting kidnapped and the female population decreasing over the years.
If I remember correctly it resulted in our population to dwindle down, but that is about as much as I can recall and I open the essay to see what I have forgotten about those classes.
I am staring at the binder on my lap as I try to wrap my brain around what I just read, how could I have forgotten about this after it took me over a week to make Fortune shut up.
She was ecstatic to find out we would have more than one Mate, not something I wanted to hear at the age of twelve and it seems I erased it from my mind completely.
“I never forgot about it and I made sure you read it because you needed to remember. You needed to have that information, because you have more than one Mate.” Fortune says.
My heart stops beating for a moment as I hear her tell me that I have more than one Mate and then my mind start running a hundred miles an hour.
How will Mack react this? Will he accept the males he has to share me with? Will those males be able to accept sharing a Mate? Will they be able to accept me for me and allow me to keep doing my job?
“Stop it, dumb Human.” Fortune growls in my head and I stare at her with widened eyes, did she just called me a dumb Human?
“Yes, I did. Your other Mates will not stop you from doing your job, they know how much both of them mean to you and they will help you in any way they can.” Fortune says and I am stunned into silence, because her words mean that whoever they are they know I am the Angel of Death.
“Fuck, don’t tell me that you are talking about our Alphas.” I yell at her.
Fortune has the fucking audacity to laugh her ass off and I pull a block up on her, I don’t need a laughing Lycan in my head when I try to process all of this.
I make my way into the bathroom to take a shower before I am ready to listen to my Lycan again, I clear my mind as I step into the shower and I take my time to wash my hair and body. By the time I am done in the bathroom I have calmed myself down enough to face whatever it is Fortune needs to tell me.
“About fucking time you dropped that block.” Fortune growls the moment I lower the block I had on her and I just shake my head at her as I walk into my walk-in closet.
“Our Alphas are not our Mates, they will find her when the time is right. There is a reason Mack didn’t get pissed off last night.” Fortune says and as the memories from last night run through my mind I realize what she is talking about.
“Fuck, you have got to be kidding me. Levi and Kay are my other Mates.” I whisper as she is nodding her head.
Then I remember that Levi is waiting for me downstairs and he will be with me all day, how am I going to get through this day?
