Glenn’s eyes bulged in rage, but before he could make a move, an icy voice came from behind him, “Let go of my son!”
Adie’s eyes lit up, and he turned around excitedly. “Daddy, it’s you!” Adie couldn’t believe his eyes. The person he had been missing for so long was actually here!
“Mr. Guajardo?” The gathered parents were filled with disbelief. None of them expected a man who was rumored to be dead to show up.
The blood drained out of Glenn’s face and he immediately let go of Adie, his heart pounding. He swallowed and stammered, “Mr. Guajardo, I… I didn’t know this boy was your son. I’m so sorry for my rudeness.” Glenn was a nouveau riche who had only become rich recently, and his property relied on the products provided by Guajardo Enterprise. Without warning, Glenn slapped Tubby. “Brat, you’ve made a mess of things! ” Glenn growled as he dragged Tubby over to Halston. “Get down on your knees and apologize to your classmate and his father. We were reckless and didn’t recognize him. Mr. Guajardo, I hope you’ll be generous and forgive my insensible son.”
“But I don’t want to say sorry! I didn’t make a mistake. Beat him up! I want to beat him up!” As a child, Tubby had no idea what was at stake. He just wanted to show off and one-up Adie.
Sweat poured down Glenn’s face, and he felt like crawling into a hole. He slapped Tubby twice. “Kneel, boy! Are you trying to make me mad?”
Adie stared at Tubby in disdain. “I’m not dead. Don’t kneel in front of me.”

“You sent me an email asking me to come, so I did.” Halston smiled and touched Adie’s hea affectionately. “I had to handle something, so I had to lay low for a while. I’m sorry for making you all worry about me.”
“Have you settled it yet?” Adie asked curiously.
“Now…” Halston kept his head low, hesitant to answer.
“Adie!” Flossie’s anxious voice came from nearby. When she was about to reach the entrance of the cave to find the treasures or the map, she heard from some parents behind her that a family was bullying Adie. She had quickly rushed back to the fishing area with Abby.
When Halston heard Flossie, he looked over. Flossie looked over too, and their gazes met. There was only twenty meters between them, but it felt like they were worlds apart. Neither of them moved, and time seemed to have stood still. It felt like everything around them had disappeared as they stared at each other, neither making a move or saying anything.
The surrounding parents exchanged awkward glances, not knowing what to do.
Adie stood beside Halston while Abby stood beside Flossie. The siblings looked at each other and shrugged wearily. Their dramatic parents always caused a scene, so they were used to things like this. All they wanted to do was resolve this issue.
After around three minutes, Adie could no longer take it. He yanked Halston’s clothes and whispered, “Daddy, what’s wrong with you? Are you going to stand here all night? You and Mommy are finally reuniting after so long apart, so why are you standing here in a daze? Shouldn’t you rush over and hug Mommy and spin her around?”
Halston nearly choked when he heard Adie’s suggestion. He leaned down and whispered back, “Who told you this?”
“That’s what they do on TV! Lovers who are separated for a long time will usually hug and kiss each other, but you and Mommy aren’t doing anything like that at all!” Adie complained loudly so the people around could hear him.
The atmosphere became even more awkward.
Helpless, Halston said softly, “It’s not like I don’t want to hug her, but can’t you see how angry your Mommy is? I’m afraid she’ll kick me if I go near her.” The last time they met was when Flossie had entered his mansion. Finally, Halston walked over to Flossie with a complicated gaze. “Why didn’t you tell me about this? It’s a big deal.”
“A big deal?” Flossie sneered. “I’m sorry for my ignorance, but I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“The kids are going to take their graduation photos. As their father, don’t you think I should have been informed?” Halston sounded displeased. He felt that graduating from kindergarten and stepping into elementary school was an important phase in a kid’s life, and as a father, he had to be present for it.
“You were clearly busy, and I didn’t even know if you were alive. I didn’t want to disturb your precious time with your new sweetheart.” Flossie sounded jealous.
The people around them looked at them curiously. It sounded like Halston had cheated on Flossie and had gone to his mistress while he was missing. No wonder Flossie wanted to kick Halston-it seemed like he deserved it.
Halston put his hands in his pockets, frowning. “You should let me decide what will disturb me. The kids are my top priority-nothing is more important than them.”
“Ha! You want to be a good father now? How ridiculous. How many milestones of theirs have you attended? You say they’re your priority, but you always put your feelings first. Can you stop being a hypocrite? Don’t you have a conscience?” Flossie snapped at Halston rudely. Honestly, she was happy to see Halston, and she was just saying those things hoping he would tell her that he had nothing to do with Jessanna… but he wasn’t denying it. It seemed like his relationship with Jessanna was serious, and it infuriated Flossie.
“A hypocrite? Then, I’ll apologize!” Halston suddenly pulled Flossie to him, and leaned close to whisper in her ear. “I know that you resent me, but can’t we resolve this privately for the kids’ sake? Don’t make them outcasts.” Then, he hugged Flossie’s waist and said loudly, Dear, why are you behaving like a child? I’ve only been away from Beach City for a while, but you’ve clearly missed me so much. I know you’re unhappy I left, but don’t you feel shy making a scene like this?”
Flossie’s jaw dropped, and she clenched her fists in frustration. She forced a smile onto her face as she jabbed Halston’s stomach sharply. “Of En: course, darling. I missed you so much that I couldn’t sleep. Luckily, you came today, or else I’d have to teach you a lesson!”
“Okay, dear. I’ve made a mistake. Here’s a kiss to make it up to you.” Halston closed his eyes and kissed Flossie’s forehead gently.
The parents who had gathered there felt awkward watching them and quickly left. They felt that they had been forced to witness Flossie and Halston’s romance.
Flossie cooperated with Halston for the sake of saving face. She leaned into Halston’s arms and spoke softly as she smiled up at him. “Since you’re here, you should be a responsible father and make their graduation a happy one.”
“Of course!” Halston looked down at Flossie, returning her smile. “I don’t have to act-I’m a good father.”

“Sure!” Abby was the first to give her approval. “Mommy and I nearly found the treasure just now… but I don’t know if it’s still there.”
Flossie checked the messages in the class’ group chat. None of the parents had posted photos of the treasure yet, so it was probably still hidden. “I just checked the group chat. No one has found the first treasure yet, so we still have a chance to get it!”

He had wanted to search for the treasure earlier, but knew they needed to get food first, so he had chosen to go fishing instead. Now that they had enough ingredients for the feast tonight, he wanted to try searching for the treasure.
“How childish…” Halston scoffed. “There’s no treasure, they’re just saying that to trick the kids.”
Flossie glared at him. “Shut up. You can leave if you don’t want to join us.”
