“Are you referring to yourself? Well, I really don’t have time to waste on people like you.” Leia typed on her phone aloofly.

“Are you trying to drive me mad?” Xavier turned to Flossie desperately. “Flossie, she’s talking nonsense. Can’t you do something?”

Flossie smiled, a little jealous of their quarrelsome but loving relationship. It was just like Flossie’s relationship with Halston back then. They had soldiered through a lot of hardships before getting a strong relationship. Hence, Flossie decided to help them…

“You want me to do something?” Flossie smiled mysteriously, then told Xavier, “If I were you, I’d seek justice for Leia whether or not it had anything to do with Shirley. Your beloved was humiliated, but instead of fighting for her, you wanted her to compromise. It means you don’t love her at all.”

“Flossie, don’t make this worse. Everyone handles things differently. Is it wise to create a bigger mess just for the sake of revenge?” Xavier did not expect such an answer from an open-minded person like Flossie. Was she trying to make Xavier and Leia’s relationship worse?

“You still don’t understand.” Flossie shook her head and continued, “It’s not about the outcome-it’s about your attitude. It would upset any woman.”

“I…” Xavier scratched his head, in a dilemma. Why did loving someone have to be so hard?

“Flossie, you know me so well.” Leia typed out, practically in tears as she hugged Flossie. Only women understood such feelings; men would only find them pretentious. Leia couldn’t stop crying, happy to be understood at last.

“Xavier, I’ll tell you something on Lei’s behalf. You still have the chance to make her forgive you in three days, but you have to figure out what to do. Just go… Lei, you should stay here tonight. I have so much to tell you!”

Leia nodded vigorously and held Flossie’s hand as they headed upstairs.

Both men stared at each other, dumbstruck. Halston couldn’t understand why his woman had left him when Xavier and Leia had been the ones arguing, and Xavier didn’t know why Flossie had become so unreasonable.

“Halston, isn’t Flossie a busybody? It was just a small fight, but I feel like things got blown out of proportion after Flossie meddled in it. How should I handle this?” Xavier complained, finding the situation quite unfair. He usually respected Flossie a lot, but he was angry at her now.

“What do you know? If I were you, I would have thanked Flossie for doing that. If not, it would have been over between you and Leia,” Halston scoffed. Halston had more experience when it came to relationships, and he knew better than Xavier what women cared about. Yes, Xavier might have been thinking objectively, but it was a bad move if he was trying to impress his beloved. If Flossie hadn’t found a way out for Xavier, things would be over between him and Leia.

“I don’t understand. What should I do now?” Xavier scratched his head manically. Why was it so troublesome to love someone?

“You shouldn’t be asking me what to do-you should think about what Leia wants you to do. If you sincerely want her, you should always stand by her and put yourself in her shoes when doing things,” Halston told Xavier earnestly.

Xavier frowned in confusion. “I can’t believe my ears. Do you mean we have to do whatever women say? You’re the most indifferent and overbearing man in Beach City, so how could you be so submissive around your wife? It’s not like you at all.” Although Xavier had experience in pursuing women, his ways were vastly different from Halston’s. He would buy them gifts and sweet-talk them to win their hearts, but no woman had ever owned his heart and mind. If a woman tried to control him, he would break up with her without any hesitation. Even if it was Leia, he would not compromise when it came to his principles, which was why they were always fighting.

“I’ve wasted many years to come to this conclusion. Yes, we’ll go through many things in our lives, but the key is to figure out what’s most important to you. If you think your principles are more important than your relationship with her, you can give her up.” Halston was unusually patient as he tried to teach a playboy like Xavier a lesson in true love.

“You might have tricks to attract women, and they might fall for you if you flirt with them, but do you know the power of sincerity? I don’t think there’s anything wrong with obeying my wife. If you can’t do it, it means that you don’t love her enough. Don’t you think so?” Halston looked at Xavier and asked bluntly.

“I…” Xavier couldn’t respond. He could lie to others and himself but not to Halston. As a man, Halston would know his thoughts, so there was no way he could lie.

“Do you think I’m a scumbag?” Xavier covered his face helplessly. He didn’t want to be a scumbag, but he had been a playboy for so many years that he felt like he had lost the ability to love.

“What do you mean?” Halston asked calmly.

“You’re right-1 don’t love Leia enough, but I’m possessive over her. I don’t want to see her get close to other men, especially that pretty boy actor. I’ll go mad with jealousy. I used to be cool and calm, but now, I don’t even recognize myself,” Xavier admitted honestly.

“No, you’re not a scumbag… You’re just dumb.”

“Dumb?”

“You can’t tell if you love her or not. Isn’t that dumb?” Halston’s blunt words sent Xavier into deep contemplation.” Think about it—if this was your last chance with Leia, would you give up your principles for her?”

Both Flossie and Leia were having a deep conversation upstairs.

At first, Leia was crying silently but to her surprise, she suddenly could speak again. “Ah, I can speak! Finally!” Leia wiped away her tears and hugged Flossie happily. “Flossie, my throat is cured! I’m sure your eyes can be cured too. Don’t worry, I’ll find you suitable eyes. It’s only a matter of time before you can see again!”

“Great! Well, I’m just glad you got your voice back. If not, we’ll be worse off than those wretched fans.” Flossie was happy for Leia. She and Leia hadn’t been able to fight back that morning mainly because Leia had lost her voice. She, Liam, and Leia had been a tight-knit group since university because they all had their own roles-Flossie was the violent one, Liam was the smart one, and Leia was the eloquent one. However, now that Flossie was blind, she could no longer attack others, and Leia hadn’t been able to argue either because she had lost her voice. It had made them an easy target forthose crazed fans.

“Yeah, you’re right. I would have attacked those crazy fans if I could speak. I’m so mad! Wait a minute, now I can argue with Xavier…” Leia said, her eyes gleaming.

Flossie immediately stopped Leia. “If you go to him now, you’ll lose this battle. Don’t talk to him, and don’t contact him. If his feelings for you are sincere, he’ll give you a good answer.”

“I’m scared I won’t get that answer, so I’ll feel better if I argue with him.”

“Why’s that?” Flossie smiled as she asked. She could tell that Leia had no faith in her relationship with Xavier, which was probably why she was always angry with him. She refused to believe that Xavier sincerely loved her no matter what he did, and they were just stuck in an endless loop due to their insecurities. One of them wasn’t confident, and the other wasn’t firm, but they were still very much attracted to each other. They would have to be careful moving forward, but it seemed like they couldn’t let go of each other either.

A relationship like that was exhausting.

“Listen to me if you want to get something out of this relationship,” Flossie said to Leia seriously.

“Yes, I do want something out of this, and I don’t care if it’s good or bad. I just want it to be over because this is torture. There have been so many times I wanted to give up, but whenever he comes close, I fall into his trap all over again…” A long sigh escaped Leia as she hung her head, disappointed in herself.

“That’s nobody’s fault or problem. Honestly, the relationship just needs a breakthrough,” Flossie said bluntly.

“A breakthrough?’ “Yes, a point of realization for you both that will finally make the both of you choose each other.” Flossie hoped they could reach that point because both she and Halston had experienced it too. She knew full well how terrible it felt to be trapped in an ambiguous relationship; Leia and Xavier would only realize that they were meant for each other after going through hardships together.

As the night went on, Flossie and Leia’s conversations grew deeper. Leia had spoken a lot, and after a while, she fell asleep with tears on her cheeks. However, Flossie couldn’t fall asleep because she felt like this was just the calm before the storm…

What she didn’t know was that Jovan’s car was parked outside the manor.

The street lights illuminated Jovan’s face as he sat in the car, bathing half of his face in light and the other in darkness. It reflected his current state well-he never knew if he was a good person or a bad one. He had been waiting for a long time outside the manor and had heard the soft conversation from within. He was sure that Flossie was blind, and it was clear who she had given her eyes to…

When Jovan was on his way there, he had thought of what he would do when he reached Ellsworth Manor. He wanted to grab Flossie by the shoulders and ask her how she could have been stupid enough to give her eyes to a useless person like him. However, he hesitated when he arrived at her house. He couldn’t find the words to say, and he couldn’t return her eyes to her. After experiencing that endless darkness, he didn’t want to go back to that hell. Not being able to see had been bad enough, but having to rely on someone to do things like wash his underwear was downright humiliating.

The worst part of it all had been becoming a worthless person-he had lost everything, including the woman he loved.

He stayed outside the manor all night, staring at the doorbell but unable to ring it. “I’m sorry, Flossie… Please forgive me for being so selfish. I lost you once, but it won’t happen again. I’ll do whatever it takes to make you mine, even if it means becoming a monster!” Jovan promised fiercely before leaving the manor quietly, as if he had never been there at all.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A sudden knock woke Halston up from his sound sleep. He got up and opened the door, and was shocked to see Flossie standing there. “Oh, dear! Why are you here alone? You’re going to be the death of me, woman. Come inside!” Halston led her into the wooden house and grabbed a coat to wrap around her. He checked her and made sure she was okay, then sighed in relief. He stared at her in bewilderment, vaguely wondering if she was faking her blindness. “How did you even get here? You came here from the second floor, but you’re not hurt at all.”

“Is it really that difficult?” Flossie raised her brows and said smugly, “I put a mini tracker on you which tells me your location, and the app will guide me there. So, don’t even think of abandoning me-l can find you no matter where you hide!”

“A mini tracker?” Impressed, Halston gave her a thumbs-up.” That’s pretty amazing-l didn’t even know you did it. You’re better than those secret agents in the movies.”

“Of course! I’m better than them, so you’d better appreciate me. Treat me badly and you’ll suffer the consequences,” Flossie said smugly.

“I wouldn’t dare. I’ll be loyal to you for the rest of my life.”

“That’s more like it! Good boy.” Flossie patted his head indulgently and muttered, “It’s freezing. Hurry up and carry me to bed. I want to sleep.” After spending a few days together, she had gotten used to hugging him in bed. It was probably the reason why she couldn’t sleep, and so she had sought him out.

“Come here. I’ve warmed the bed for you,” Halston said gently and led her to bed. It was the best thing in the world to have a warm bed on a cold night.

Flossie curled up on her side while Halston hugged her from behind. She felt safe and warm in his arms, and after a while, she started to feel sleepy.

However, Halston’s mind became more active as he held her. After a while of thinking, he asked, “Do you think it’s bad of us to break up those two childish people, dear?” He was referring to Xavier and Leia, and what had happened earlier. Logically speaking, it was just a small argument, but it had become more serious after Flossie and Halston meddled in it. Xavier and Leia had been forced into an ultimatum, and if they kept being stubborn, they would miss the chance to be with each other.

“Well, I guess they have to learn the hard way. They’ve been in a relationship of sorts for more than a year now, but there was no progress at all. Both of them are hurting, and a little push might help them in the right direction. If they can’t be together, they can find more suitable partners. Isn’t that better? If they do manage to work it out, they’ll have a happy ending… like us.” Flossie closed her eyes and hugged his arms as she spoke.

“Yeah, you’re right.” Halston smiled proudly and hugged Flossie tightly.

“Look at us-isnt this nice? We’ve been through a lot of hardships, but they haven’t. They should take this opportunity to learn something.”

Both Flossie and Halston were positive people; even though they had experienced a lot of bad things, they still cherished those memories. Those times were a precious part of their lives.

Yawning, Flossie asked, “What about Guajardo Enterprise? Did Jovan try anything?”
