Chapter 40 – Maleah The Angel Of Death Novel

Filed to story: Maleah The Angel Of Death Novel

“Maleah, how many assignments do you have at the moment?” Dominic asks, and I start counting on my fingers.

“Alpha Bradley, the Lowbane family, Longford, the Bornshade Sisters, and the Dayborne Brothers. Those are my current assignments; Alpha Bradley and the Lowbane family will be looking over their shoulder for a while, and that means my focus will be on my other targets for the moment,” I say as I count to ten on my fingers.

“You do know the Lowbane family has a Daughter,” Dominic says, and I tell them they had a Sister; Kay is nodding his head as he turns his tablet towards Dominic, showing him the news item on her death and the way she was found in her hotel room.

“What’s with the…?” Kay asks with a red face, and I tell them about what she allowed her family to do to the sex slaves she had at her club.

“None of them wanted to be there, and even though they escaped that club, they still live in fear.

Fear of them being found by a member of the Lowbane family, fear of being in that same situation again, and this time with no way out. They escaped because none of the Lowbane family thought they would be able to go anywhere after what they had put them through, but they hadn’t counted on their determination to get out of there.” I have watched all their faces as I tell them the testimonies my clients had given, and I have seen just about every emotion run across their faces.

A knock on the door prevents Dominic from asking another question, and after he opens the door, an Omega walks in with some much-needed coffee.

We all wait until she has placed everything on the coffee table and Dominic closes the door behind her after she has left.

We talk about every assignment I have, and I fill them in on the reasons why I am going after my targets.

I tell them about Longford, who raped and killed his Mate before he raped and killed her younger Sister. I tell them about Caym and Tamish Dayborne and Sarka and Nishay Bornshade; they sell underaged Pups to males that train them to be sex slaves, and most of them don’t survive the training they have to go through.

“Fuck, what happened to the Rogue?” I ask as something clicks in my mind.

“He is still in the dungeons; we didn’t have time to question him yet,” Mack answers me.

“Did anyone talk to the Pups?” I ask, and Dominic tells me that their Mother talked to them; they were left near the border by a Sigma that works at the orphanage. However, none of them could tell Elyse why they were left there, and so far the Sigma that left them there hasn’t been willing to answer any questions.

“Mom threw her in the dungeons when she refused to answer the questions Mom had, and she is still there.”

I hate where my mind is going, but I need to find out if my train of thought is correct; this can’t be a coincidence.

“Dominic, can you have someone bring the Sigma to your office? I might know why she took those Pups out there, and if she did it for the reason that is running through my mind, we might need to alert other Alphas or even the Council of Elders,” I say before I bury my nose in Mack’s neck to calm myself down.

Mack’s p.o.v.

Commander is right here with me as we listen to our Angel talking about the assignments she still has ahead of her, and I am disgusted by the behavior of some Wolves and Lycans in the world; I am glad our Angel is taking a stand against them.

I know she has mentioned it before, but it seems that someone is protecting some of these Wolves and Lycans from facing justice, and maybe we should be investigating the Council of Elders for corruption.

I doubt we would get anywhere with any evidence we find; they will always point a finger to anyone outside the Council or the Royal Family, and I don’t think the Royal Family would appreciate it if we tried to take down an Elder.

“If an Elder…” Commander doesn’t finish the sentence as we both feel anger radiating from Maleah, but her questions don’t seem to bother anyone else, and she receives answers as they normally would during a meeting.

“The Sigma left them there because she sold them to the Dayborne Brothers and the Bornshade Sisters; the Rogues were here to collect them, and if it hadn’t been for Fortune and Maleah, they would have succeeded,” Commander growls, and I wonder how she was planning on justifying their absence.

Elyse visits the orphanage at least once every two weeks; if she can make it once a week she does, and she always asks for updates on the Pups. Sometimes Elyse even contacts families that took them in.

It doesn’t seem that any of the others have figured out what Maleah was referring to, and I am going to allow her to handle this anyway she sees fit; I will only interfere if I believe she isn’t getting anywhere, but something tells me she knows exactly how to handle this.

We always read about every murder that makes the news, and in most cases we know if it was an assignment or not, especially when it comes to targets the Angel of Death took care of.

We were always surprised about the way he – because we all assumed it was a he – left his targets behind, and we finally learned that they were left to be found was what they did to their victims.

We always admired the Angel of Death for taking his victims out in public places, but we never found out who the Angel of Death was, and the only reason we know her identity now is because she told us. She trusted us enough to tell us her secret, and this might have something to do with our bond.

I get pulled from my thoughts when the door opens and Levi walks in with the Sigma Elyse put in the dungeons; she doesn’t seem too worried.

“Alphas, what can I do for you?” she asks as she sits down in the chair Levi guided her to, and Dominic asks her the same question Elyse asked her: “Why did you leave four young Pups alone near the edge of our territory?” Dominic gets surrounded by his Brothers, but it doesn’t seem to bother her at all.

She looks around the office, and when her eyes land on me and Maleah, she has the nerve to smile.

“Congratulations, Head Assassin Mack. I hope your Mate can live with having an Assassin for her Mate; we all know her Mother couldn’t deal with it,” the Sigma says with a smug look on her face, and Commander pushes forward to show her that he isn’t amused, but she ignores his presence.
