Bonnie, if Irene remembered correctly, her name was Bonita Ariani. They were high school friends. The ones who made her spend several days in the hospital. Beautiful, but her heart was like a devil. That trauma, even though treated multiple times, she still couldn’t reconcile with what was boiling inside her.
She hadn’t forgotten the incident. But she tried hard to make Irene forget. Because she remembered the names of the two girls who made her afraid of the dark. Afraid of loud noises. And sometimes, she had to take tranquilizers because the voices swirling in her head were very disturbing. Fortunately, this job kept her busy. She couldn’t think of anything else except work.
But now? Why did she have to be confronted with her past? But… Irene had undergone counseling sessions where one of the suggestions was to confront it. No matter how you fight, at least you have to speak up. Well, Irene had never followed that advice until now.
She almost forgot the possibility of meeting one of them. Uh… God made them meet yesterday. Plus, the situation was quite perplexing-bonnie becoming Sebastian’s date.
Irene shouldn’t be surprised, right? The Casanova indeed had many women around him. Unfortunately, it always ended up in his bed. There was never any intention to truly end his adventures. And now, God had given him a funny fate. bonnie… that beautiful woman would only end up as a momentary pleasure. Irene knew Sebastian’s behavior all too well.
A smile appeared on Irene’s lips as she considered her thoughts. She chose to just grab her phone and check her schedule again for her time in Surabaya. She would need to open her laptop for her mistake, but she couldn’t do it now. The raptor might spew fire.
“Did you order food for me, Irene?” Sebastian asked while opening the menu. “You can choose what I want to eat. It seems my assistant has already chosen for me.”
“Relax, honey.” bonnie smiled widely. “I don’t want to eat something heavy. Can you order some bread from Bread Coffee?”
Their conversation paused as a waiter arrived with Irene’s order. The sizzling aroma and savory scent were inviting for them to enjoy. “I hope you won’t be disappointed with my order,” she said briefly. “Let’s eat.”
“Oh, before you eat. Buy me a snack first,” bonnie said with a honey-sweet smile that resembled a poisonous allure directed at Irene. “I’m hungry.”
Irene sighed softly, moistening her lips before she slightly shifted the menu next to her. “You can order something from the menu here.”
“Darling,” bonnie coaxed, her face turning melancholic. She deliberately used a pouting tone to get this pony tailed girl to comply with her desires. Just like in the past, where she could play with her while laughing freely and feeling satisfied. Especially seeing her frightened. Ah… she felt like reenacting that story.
“Just eat what’s available, Bonnie.” Sebastian quickly took a bite of his food. “And you, don’t just focus on the food that’s served. We need to discuss your mistake,” Sebastian said, looking straight at his assistant. “Irene?”
“Eh! Yes, sir!”
“Were you daydreaming?”
Irene just grimaced.
“Take your vitamin. Tomorrow we’re going to Sidoarjo.”
“Bella, sir?”
There was a momentary pause before Sebastian said, “She’s not coming. Her grandmother wants to take her on a vacation to Jeju Island.”
“When will I have my vacation, sir?”
“Do you think I can take a vacation? If I take a vacation, then you can have one too.”
The noisy old lady:
Who’s Ena, Sebastian?
A message arrived on Sebastian’s cell phone. Originally, Sebastian still wanted to curl up under the blanket, especially with a beautiful woman accompanying him. Sebastian has known her for a year since his visit to Sidoarjo. They made a promise that whenever Sebastian visited, she would gladly meet him. It was quite helpful in keeping Sebastian from getting too tired, even though his mind was once again drained from his activities.
At least, the presence of the woman showcasing her smooth back on the bed he slept in tonight made him feel refreshed. For the next three days, he would be monitoring the progress of land acquisition that had yet to reach an agreement. He wanted another round even if the woman was asleep, just a slight spark of passion, and Sebastian would get what he desired. Besides, wrestling together and exchanging moans in the morning was invigorating, right? Unfortunately, it was just a plan. His phone kept buzzing softly like a bee wandering in a flower garden. It was so noisy, even though the day was still too early. It was only… six? Oh my!
“Yes, Madam Alexa?” he answered. Her name was Alexa Sinclair, often called Madam Alexa by Sebastian.
“Are you just waking up, Sebastian?”
He didn’t care about her previous high-pitched remark. “What’s the matter?”
“What do you mean, ‘What’s the matter?’ You’re the CEO, Sebastian! You shouldn’t be lazing around like this! Do you know that most of the shares are held by Janet Sinclair?”
Oh God! Is that what she’s talking about again?!
“I’ve still been respectful towards Madam Alexa all this time. Mama and Papa never knew how she treated me.” Sebastian slowly pulled back his blanket, causing the woman in his embrace to stir. Sebastian smiled faintly, stroking the woman’s hair to comfort her, and then he got up. He chose to sit on one of the sofas.
He still held his phone tightly. His grip on the phone tightened. He still couldn’t accept the words he heard this morning. Doesn’t this Nosy Grandma know that he has exerted all his efforts? That he has been leaving Bella, who is his responsibility, more often? Just to ensure that Faldom runs as it should?
Janet Sinclair, the only daughter of the owner of Fall Building Group, where her husband Noah Sinclair built Faldom as a special collaboration. Clearly, Janet Sinclair was the main source of funding, fully supporting her husband’s work. Everything was fine if Faldom was running. Their marriage was also fine, although it took a while for them to have a beautiful daughter named Bella.
When news of their deaths surfaced, the ownership of Faldom was questioned. Also, the inheritance letter that was apparently made by Noah Sinclair back then. The leadership of Faldom was only handed over to Sebastian Sinclair, the only sibling, and it was specially signed by Janet Sinclair. Sebastian had no choice but to accept it.
Alexa expressed her disapproval. It was clearly audible, but Sebastian didn’t care. He had often received such treatment. Was this what he wanted? Oh God! If he could choose, he would prefer to frolic with the waves. Traveling around the world, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation while exploring any profession he could pursue out there.
Unfortunately, out of an overwhelming sense of love and affection, he was willing to protect his only niece, Bella.
“Who is Ena?”
“Yes?”
“Ena!” Alexa snapped a bit loudly. “Bella mentioned Ena’s name several times. Is she your fiancée?”
“No,” Sebastian straightened his back.
