Oh… the protest wasn’t over. What Sebastian just did had consequences for Irene. She was asked to immediately check the finances regarding the expenses already paid for the maintenance of both graves.

Raptor was truly exceptional at making others irritated!

Fortunately, from somewhere, Irene’s initiative came. Anything related to Sebastian’s personal matters, she compiled in a special email and kept in a separate archive. She could quickly answer all of Sebastian’s questions. And she also gave a little explanation to the man not to put too much pressure on others during Bella’s visit this time.

This visit should be more solemn, right?

“Those two graves mean a lot to me, Irene,” Sebastian said with a sharp gaze. “I don’t want their graves to be poorly maintained. What’s the point of paying a high price if I don’t get anything in return?”

“Yeah, sir,” Irene sighed for the umpteenth time. “But can you see the situation?”

Sebastian scoffed. “Just because I haven’t visited in a while doesn’t mean no one has come.”

“I understand, sir. The management has already apologized, right?” Irene tried to remain patient.

“I’m still upset about it,” Sebastian folded his arms across his chest.

“The one who should be upset is Bella, sir. Maybe there’s something she wants to tell her parents. Something she doesn’t want you to hear but ends up getting ruined.”

“Oh, really?” Sebastian tilted his head. “I don’t understand if that’s the case.”

“Because you’ve been getting angry since earlier.”

Sebastian fell silent. Then he took wide strides to catch up with Bella, who had already reached the car. Seeing that, Irene kept her distance. She didn’t know what they were talking about, but she was sure that this time Sebastian was letting go of his ego. Far away. The evidence was Bella’s wide smile as she hugged Sebastian.

In reality, the two of them were no different from people forced to think and act maturely because of the circumstances. Just like herself, who had to figure out how to be a good older sister and support everything that was left behind. Robin insisted on not going to a school that drained a lot of money. Meanwhile, the middle child tried his best to support himself, although sometimes Irene still helped. The most challenging thing for Irene, besides her mother and family, was her father’s overwhelming debt. According to her records, she had settled many of those obligations, leaving only one matter: their house.

“Come on, Irene. Why are you daydreaming over there?” Sebastian called, making Irene quicken her pace.

They were going home. At least, that’s what Irene thought. The reality was that the sedan Sebastian was driving entered the area of a well-known steamboat restaurant in Jakarta area.

Irene thought Sebastian was no longer annoying. They could enjoy a peaceful and pleasant meal together. Unfortunately… it was just a fantasy. Sebastian was still annoying. The incident with the condiments alone had delayed them from enjoying the dishes.

“Why are you so quiet, Irene?” Sebastian had been observing Irene’s silence for a while. The girl just stirred her soup. Was there something wrong with all the orders? No, there wasn’t. Irene knew their preferences, both hers and Bella’s. But why was Irene staying silent and not showing any appetite?

“Ah!” Irene blinked slowly. Her eyes locked with Sebastian’s before she gave a faint smile. “No, sir. I’ll remember what was missing earlier.”

“No need for that, Irene,” Sebastian grinned. “Just eat. Eat a lot. If it’s not enough, add more.”

Bella nodded in agreement. “This is delicious, Irene.” Her spoon was already full, ready to enter her mouth. “Get me the vegetables, please. Earlier, you said I should eat a lot of vegetables, right?” Irene’s smile grew wider. “Okay.”

“I’ll get the slices of meat for you, Irene. Make sure they’re not overcooked. I don’t like that.”

“Yes, sir.”

“Irene, I want the egg. Cooked, please. Is it ready yet?” Bella asked with a curious look.

“Be patient, Bella,” Irene took a slow breath.

“Just grill the garlic, Irene. You’ll definitely like it.”

She slowly exhaled the air she had gathered in her chest. “Yes, I’ll grill it for you, sir.”

“Where’s the meat? Just grill the shrimp, right, Irene? You like it, don’t you?”

Oh God! Calm Irene’s heart down!

Monday is a busy day. It’s not that Irene is being made busy, but almost all employees at Faldom are. Sebastian, as he pleases, requests to expedite all reports related to the major meeting with the chairman. In this case, the busiest person is the one closest to Sebastian. Who else?

Fortunately, she is used to being made busy by Sebastian. His annoying and authoritarian attitude cannot be changed even for a moment. On the other hand, Bella is a thousand times more obedient to Irene. Learning from experience, Irene quickly dismisses Sebastian’s words. Although sometimes they hurt her feelings, when Irene brings them up, that man casually says, “Did I mean it that way, Irene? No. You misunderstood. What I meant was that you need sufficient rest, quality sleep, and proper nutrition. So that you can fully concentrate and not make trivial mistakes, Irene. I can immediately spot them with my eyes. What about you? It’s not just a matter of you wearing glasses. It means you’re not concentrating.” In the end, Irene learns the implicit language that Sebastian speaks, including expanding the capacity of her patience.

“How is Optima?” Sebastian suddenly asks as he sits in front of Irene’s desk. His hands are busy sliding the tablet screen. His eyes briefly glance at Irene, who is busy working. His trusted assistant moves the chair towards one of the drawers, probably retrieving Optima’s report.

“Based on the data I have gathered, as well as the data you requested some time ago, there are indications of embezzlement.” Irene hands over her observations directly in front of Sebastian, causing her boss to pause his fingers’ dance on the sophisticated gadget.

“What do you mean?”

Irene then opens the report she has compiled. With the crazy overtime work at Sebastian’s house, despite many disturbances, she managed to overcome them successfully. She compared the findings with the documents obtained from the finance department. Irene points out and elaborates on her research results one by one. Several times, Sebastian checks again what Irene has explained.

“Why didn’t Noah Sinclair raise this issue?” Sebastian asks, puzzled. His eyes are fixed on a fairly large transaction where no projects took place during the disbursement of the funds. “Are you sure you checked this month, March, Irene?” “Yes, sir.” Irene is not irritated by the recent question. She knows that her boss is asking just to double-check what she found in the data.

“How is Optima doing?”

“No one has responded yet. I couldn’t meet Ms. Nadine either.”

Sebastian gently rubs his chin, contemplating not his assistant’s appearance or assessing her honesty, but considering what he will do next. A few months ago, Optima helped them open old files. Why does it now seem like they’re avoiding them?

“I’ll check their address. Optima’s office has also moved. No one knows where they moved to.”
