Talon rested one arm comfortably around Diana’s waist.
“This,” he said calmly, “is my Luna. My mate. Diana.”
He then turned slightly toward Diana. “Love, this is Alpha Charles and Luna Carla of the Stone Claw Pack. And their daughter Vanessa.”
His lips curved slightly. “You remember Vanessa from yesterday, correct?”
“Yes. I remember.” Diana nodded calmly, then she looked directly at their guests. “Did you come here because of what your daughter did yesterday?”
Her voice remained calm and composed. “I admit, after seeing the way she behaved, I assumed she must have learned that behavior from home.”
She paused slightly. “But now I see… she may simply be an unpleasant she-wolf all on her own.”
Enzo completely lost the battle at that point. A loud laugh escaped him before he quickly disguised it with a cough. “Ahem.”
Alpha Charles stared at them in disbelief. “What?”
Luna Carla’s face flushed with anger. “How dare you say that!”
Diana tilted her head slightly.
“Why?” she asked Talon calmly. “Did they not come here to apologize?”
Talon shook his head with exaggerated regret.
“No, love,” he said lightly. “They came here to complain.”
“Complain?” Diana repeated, looking genuinely confused. She turned back toward the visitors. “Complain about what?”
Alpha Charles finally lost his patience.
“About how an insignificant she-wolf threatened my daughter,” he snapped, “and about her banishment from this pack!”
The room suddenly grew colder.
Talon’s expression darkened instantly. His Alpha King aura spilled into the room, pressing heavily against everyone present.
“Alpha Charles,” Talon said quietly, his voice dangerously calm, “I have always respected you.” His eyes hardened. “But if you disrespect my mate again the way you just did…”
His aura intensified. “I will end you.”
The warning was unmistakable.
“Talon,” Diana gently touched Talon’s arm, and she said softly. “Relax. I’m fine.”
Then she looked back toward Alpha Charles. “Alpha Charles, the insignificant she-wolf you are referring to
… Her brow lifted slightly. “…do you mean me?”
Alpha Charles blinked. “What?”
“Well, if you are referring to me, then yes.” Diana smiled faintly, and then she shrugged lightly. “I did threaten your daughter.”
Vanessa gasped.
“I told her that if she didn’t stop touching what belongs to me, I would remove her arm.” Diana tilted her head thoughtfully. “You understand that feeling, don’t you?”
“If another male touched your fated mate, you would want to kill him.” Her gaze settled directly on Alpha Charles, and she smiled slightly. “Your daughter was lucky. I gave her a warning before removing her arm.”
“You bitch!” Vanessa suddenly shouted.
Diana raised one eyebrow slowly. “Did someone speak to you?”
Vanessa froze. “What?”
“You brought your parents here like a spoiled pup,” Diana said calmly. “Now that the adults are discussing your behavior, you should remain quiet.”
Her eyes sharpened. “And listen like the good pup you try to pretend to be.”
Vanessa’s face turned red with fury.
“Luna Diana,” Luna Carla said sharply, stepping forward, “even if you are the Alpha King’s mate, you do not have the right to speak to us like that.”
Diana smiled slightly.
“The fact that you addressed me as Luna means I absolutely have that right.” She leaned slightly forward.” Did either of you ask your daughter why she was banished?”
Silence.
“Did you ask why I threatened her?”
More silence.
“Or did you simply listen to her whining and rush here without knowing what actually happened?”
Luna Carla’s lips parted slightly, because that was exactly what they had done. They had listened to Vanessa’s version of events and immediately come to Black Howler to demand answers.
“I see.” Diana sighed softly. She sat back slightly against Talon. “Then allow me to explain.”
Her gaze turned cold. “Your daughter did not just touch my mate.”
Vanessa paled slightly.
“She pushed a pup who accidentally bumped into her.”
Alpha Charles frowned.
“And when the pup’s mother tried to explain the situation…” Diana’s voice sharpened. “Your daughter slapped her.”
The room went silent.
“I don’t know how things work in the Stone Claw Pack,” Diana continued calmly. “Perhaps high-ranking wolves there are allowed to assault pack members and their children.”
“But here in Black Howler…” Her eyes hardened. “That behavior is unforgivable.”
“Come in,” Talon said calmly when a knock sounded at his office door.
The door opened immediately,
Beta Enzo entered first, stepping aside to allow the guests to follow behind him.
Alpha Charles walked in with stiff authority, his posture rigid and proud. Luna Carla followed beside him, her expression tight with displeasure. Behind them, Vanessa entered last, her chin lifted as if daring anyone in the room to challenge her.
Enzo closed the door behind them and quietly took his place hear the wall, though the faint smirk on his face suggested he already knew this meeting was going to be entertaining.
Talon remained seated behind his desk, his posture relaxed but his presence unmistakably powerful.
“Alpha Charles. Luna Carla. Vanessa,” Talon greeted evenly. He gestured politely toward the chairs in front of his desk. “Welcome to Black Howler. How can I help you?”
Alpha Charles did not sit. Instead, he stepped forward slightly.
“Alpha King,” he began firmly, “we came here to discuss why my daughter was banished from your territory
His eyes darkened. “…and why some random she-wolf threatened her while she was here.”
Talon slowly leaned back in his chair.
“Some random she-wolf?” Talon repeated thoughtfully, his brow lifted slightly. “Are you certain about that?
Behind them, Enzo suddenly choked. He turned away quickly, covering his mouth with his fist as he struggled not to laugh.
Vanessa shot him an annoyed glare.
“Yes,” Alpha Charles continued, ignoring Enzo’s reaction. “Our pack has been a long-time ally of Black Howler. We have been loyal and supportive to the Royal Pack for generations.”
Luna Carla stepped forward beside him. Her voice was sharp and piercing enough that Talon felt a headache forming almost instantly.
“For my daughter to be humiliated like this is deeply concerning,” Luna Carla said. “Not only was she insulted by some unknown she-wolf, but she was also banished from your pack and told never to return”
Her gaze hardened. “Alpha King Talon, how could this happen?”
Talon opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, another knock sounded on the door.
And unlike Enzo earlier, the person on the other side did not wait for permission.
The door opened.
Diana walked in.
The moment she stepped inside, she could already feel the tension filling the room. Her eyes briefly swept across the visitors before she walked directly toward Talon’s desk
Without hesitation, she held out her hand for him.
Talon smiled faintly and took it, but instead of guiding her to the chair beside him. He pulled her directly onto his lap.
Diana blinked in surprise before settling comfortably there.
“What is the meaning of this?” Alpha Charles demanded, stunned.
“Alpha, who is she?” Luna Carla asked sharply at the same time.
