Chapter 91 – A Little Princess’s Journey from Darkness to Light Novel

In the room, Spirit-calling Banners fluttered with the wind, and the yellow talismans on the wall rattled. Mrs. Taylor lowered her head, her arms resting weakly by her side.

“Val…” She said slowly. Her voice, combined with the surroundings, created an eerie atmosphere.

Valentine nervously asked, “Mother?”

Mrs. Taylor couldn’t raise her head, so her voice was muffled. “I’m leaving soon, so you don’t have to try to save me. I’m satisfied with my life.”

Valentine’s eyes turned red. “Mother…”

Mrs. Taylor continued, “Remember, there is something you must investigate in the future… Investigate the boy with the surname

MacNeil who lived in our house when he was little!”

Mrs. Taylor had passed away, so the memories of her life were now the clearest. She remembered that they had saved a little boy who had lived with them for some time… He bore a resemblance to the current Lilly.

“Perhaps he is Lilly’s father. He was seven back then, so he should be around 25 to 26 now. It aligns with what Mr. Rosewood said. You should do your best to help the Crawford family find him, understand? Find an opportunity to discuss it with them.”

Valentine nodded solemnly. “I understand, Mother.”

…

Lilly held her Bunny and stood by the door, looking at the villa across the street. There were people dressed in black at the villa. The funeral services had arrived, and there was also a police car parked nearby.

“Rest in peace, Mr. Rosewood!” Lilly whispered softly.

Old Mr. Rosewood had probably seen Amelia’s corpse. Unfortunately, it had been a long time, and Amelia was long gone.

Lilly pursed her lips, and her big eyes seemed a little dull. No one knew what she was thinking about when she was quiet.

Pablo, dressed in a white robe, leaned lazily to the side. He held a book, but his eyes were fixed on Lilly. Rather than finding Lilly’s biological father, he was more concerned about whether she could endure this.

He wrote a line under Lilly’s name in his book, “the ups and downs of life”. Was Lilly going through a trial now?

As he pondered, he heard Lilly talking to the parrot, “Polly, 2-5-2-2-6 years old is really old, right?”

Lilly wasn’t very good at math. She was only 4 years old and hadn’t even been to kindergarten.

Polly rubbed its head against Lilly’s hand and said, “Old mountain monster! Old mountain monster!”

Lilly put on a sad expression. She didn’t want a monster to be her father!

After a fierce battle in her heart, she said to Polly, “Forget it! A child can’t complain about their own dad. Even if he’s a pig, he’s still my dad! Polly, you can’t complain about him either!”

Polly said, “Dad! Dad!”

Lilly laughed.

At that moment, Valentine walked out and whispered something to Anthony. After a moment, Anthony said, “Lilly, we’re leaving.”

Lilly sat in the car, watching as the Taylor residence grew smaller in the distance. Leaning against the window, she remarked, “Mr. Val is going to become wealthy. It’s a place filled with positive energy.”

Anthony nodded in agreement.

Although he didn’t know much about energy, he believed that success ultimately depended on one’s own efforts. Valentine had a great personality, so it was no surprise that he would achieve financial success.

…

As the night wind rustled around the Rosewood residence, a mysterious figure appeared in Old Mr. Rosewood’s room.

Dressed in black attire, the figure stood at a height of approximately 6.2 feet. Pulling a chair closer, he sat down and crossed his legs, clasping his fingers together. His gaze fixed upon Old Mr. Rosewood’s bed.

“I’m a step behind,” he murmured softly.

In the dimly lit room, a man dressed in black stood, his dark eyes reflecting the moonlight. His slightly curly hair fell over his eyebrows, adding to his mysterious appearance.

His phone rang, and he quickly answered it. A voice from the other end could be faintly heard. “Mr. Rosewood passed away today at 3.50 pm. His neighbor, Valentine, discovered him. Anthony, Josh, and Lilly from the Crawford family, along with Charlie Brown, went to the Rosewood residence together… Regarding the corpse found under the Animaux Private Academy’s field… Police records show that Mr. Rosewood had previously reported that he believed there were buried corpses under the field…”

The man in black chuckled. Old Mr. Rosewood went to solve the case? It was hard to believe.

“Why did the Crawford family go there?”

The other person replied, “The Crawford family planned to visit the Taylor residence…”

After the other person finished speaking, the man in black coldly said, “Investigate everyone who went to the Rosewood residence today and send me their information.” He then hung up the phone and put it in his pocket.

His name was Blake MacNeil, a name given to him by his late grandfather, who had passed away 18 years ago. It was only recently that Blake discovered that his grandfather had met Mr. Rosewood and asked him to find Blake.

Blake realized he was too late to meet Mr. Rosewood and ask him about many things he wanted to know.

He stood up and disappeared into the night.

…

Lilly had a peaceful sleep that night. She dreamt of a tall man, even taller than a door frame, who claimed to be her father. As he was about to step through the door, he accidentally bumped his head on the door frame, making Lilly giggle.

Pablo returned and saw Lilly giggling in her dreams, revealing her sweet dimples. He was dressed in a white robe and wore a rarely-seen gentle smile as he patted Lilly’s head. “Silly little one.”

The next day, Lilly slept until 9.00 am. Bettany quietly entered the room, looking worried, to check if Lilly was still there. She saw that Lilly had already washed up and changed, and was even wearing her shoes.

“Good morning, Granny!” Lilly greeted with a bright smile.

Bettany’s mood immediately brightened, and she smiled. “Lilly, why are you up so early?”

Lilly replied, “Polly woke me up!”

On the balcony, Polly leaned against the mosquito net, singing a song. Bettany’s mouth twitched upon seeing this. She disagreed with Anthony when he said he wanted to create a tropical rainforest room next to the balcony because she thought the parrot was too noisy.

Lilly was growing up, and she needed a peaceful sleep. What if the parrot woke her up in the middle of the night?

Bettany complained that Anthony was insensitive, even though he was all grown up.

Lilly couldn’t help but laugh. She held Bettany’s hand and walked out, following the wheelchair. “Granny, Polly won’t be noisy at night.”

Parrots were like humans. They couldn’t see anything in the dark without light. Moreover, they would sleep quietly at night and not make any noise unless someone disturbed them or there was danger.

Downstairs, Anthony, Drake, and Josh were having breakfast at the dining table. One of them was looking at a tablet, another was reading the newspaper, and the last one was reading an arithmetic book, multitasking without disturbing each other.

Hugh put his teacup aside and said sternly, “Eat properly. Why are you all doing so many things at once?”

Since Lilly returned, the Crawford family hadn’t had their “morning meetings” for a while.

Hugh was usually a strict person who didn’t speak much, but everyone would be obedient once he spoke. Anthony put down his tablet, while Drake and Josh put down their books and newspaper. Hearing footsteps on the stairs, Josh thought it was Lilly and immediately looked over. Instead, he saw Hannah running down in her slippers.

Hannah looked around and asked, “Where’s Lilly?” She was secretly frustrated. Did she not make it in time again today? She didn’t see Lilly yesterday, and Lilly even went out today!

Josh sneered and asked, “Tsk, the princess is up early today, huh?!”

Hannah snorted angrily and prepared to return to her room in a bad mood, not wanting to have breakfast at all.

Hugh frowned and said, “Don’t you know how to greet people? Have your breakfast before going back to sleep!”

Anthony said indifferently, “Dad, you don’t have to be that strict.”

Hugh sneered and replied, “I’m strict with everyone!”

Hannah walked over in her slippers, not wanting to have breakfast at all. She never had the habit of eating breakfast.

The elevator’s light flashed, and Lilly and Bettany came out.

Hannah’s eyes lit up, but she quickly acted as if nothing happened and took a bite of her bread.

Lilly said, “Good morning, Hannah, Drake, Josh, Uncle Anthony, and Grandpa Hugh!”
