He was on Leia’s side but he could not favor her at a moment like this.

Firstly, he didn’t want to spoil her.

Secondly, he didn’t want to make Shirley jealous in case she decided to take revenge on Leia.

Leia assumed that he was sorry for his first love, and bitterness and envy overwhelmed her.

She didn’t want to retreat, so she braced herself and walked into the ward before asking Shirley, “You know very well that I didn’t push you down the hill on purpose, but I won’t try to shift the blame either. So, what is it you want? Medical fee? A public apology? Or something else?”

Leia was blunt because she already anticipated that Shirley would find fault with her.

“It’s fine.I know that you didn’t do it on purpose, so I discussed it with Xavier and decided to let it go.I won’t hold you responsible for it either.Of course…I did it because of Xavier.”

While talking, Shirley looked at Xavier tenderly and smiled sweetly.

“I have to thank you though. We’re able to see our true feelings in hard times. At first, there was some unresolved tension between Xavier and me, but when I saw how worried he was about me, those misunderstandings were naturally resolved. We can still be best friends and soulmates who knew each other best like in the past.Am I right…Xavier?”

Xavier clenched his fists but did not deny it.He said lightly, “Just let bygones be bygones.I hope that we can get along with each other well like in the past.”

“Like in the past…” Leia snorted.

It was unknown whether she was laughing at Xavier or herself.

“Both Xavier and Shirley were an acknowledged couple in the circle.A rich, young heir and an innocent female star…What a romantic setting! I was so jealous!”

“I thought so too! I didn’t realize how important it was until I lost it, but now I know.”

Shirley grinned happily, her large eyes making her look innocent. She started reminiscing about the past.

“I recalled how ignorant I was when I first joined the entertainment circle. My family was still waiting for my money to save them.I wanted to sell myself to others and I nearly died on a table of an underground business at Water Dock.Xavier came and saved me like a prince in a fairytale. He helped me pay off my family’s debts and hired famous doctors to cure my family…”

“Really? How romantic! We can’t even find such a romantic storyline in novels. Why haven’t you guys tied the knot yet? If you promised him earlier, you might be Mrs.Stuart now, and you’d probably have kids too. What a pity!”

Leia knew that Shirley was purposely showing off, so she suppressed her pain and played along.Shirley blushed, and tucked her hair behind her ear shyly.

“You can’t say that.It depends on our fate.Maybe Xavier and I hadn’t come to that stage yet back then…”

“I think the time has come now, so you guys should get ready to take the next step. This is a good year.Work hard and you may even get a baby. How cute!”

Leia behaved like a matchmaker, and spoke excitedly as if she wanted to make it happen.

“I want to but I don’t know if Xavier…” Shirley looked at Xavier expectantly.

“You don’t have to ask him—the whole city knows that he’s your number one fan. He’s been running around like your servant for so many years, so I’m sure he’s long wanted to marry you. You don’t have to ask him,” Leia glanced at Xavier and said enthusiastically.

Xavier pursed his lips and made no reply. He just stared at Leia indifferently.

“Isn’t that true, Mr. Stuart? Miss White made such a bold statement, so shouldn’t you express your thoughts on the matter?” Leia turned the conversation to Xavier, but did not dare to look at him out of guilt. She did not know what was on her mind. She was sad, but she pretended to be unconcerned. She did not want them to get back together with each other, but she kept making things worse. She must be crazy.

“What else can I say? You’re so good at talking, so you can help me say everything.” Xavier had been watching Leia the whole time, looking displeased.

Leia felt uneasy under his stare, and gritted her teeth. “What do you mean? I kindly helped you pursue your first love. It’s alright if you don’t thank me, but there’s no need to ridicule me as if I’m a busybody. How ungrateful you are!”

“Hmph! So, you know that you’re a busybody?” Xavier’s eyes were sharp and cold. Why was she so hypocritical? She watched another woman trying to seduce her man but she did not compete for his favor. She even tried to set them up. She was indeed the kindest person in the world, so he needed to thank her abundantly.

“I won’t meddle in it if you think I’m a busybody. I won’t care about your affairs either. After all, I can’t get a penny even if you two get married. If you argue and want a divorce later, you may even blame me. I must be out of my mind to meddle in this!” Leia crossed her arms and turned away from him angrily.

“I didn’t ask you to meddle in this. Whatever happens between Shirley and me is our matter to settle. Why do you want to see it happen? What good does it bring you?” Xavier growled.

Leia was angry, but he was angrier. No one wanted to see their beloved enthusiastically push them to someone else.

“It’ll bring me nothing good. I said I won’t meddle in it. What else do you want me to do? Do you want me to get down on my knees and say sorry for being a busybody?” Leia turned around and glared at him, her eyes slightly teary. Her actions were indeed baffling and embarrassing from an outsider’s point of view. Leia had never felt so humiliated in a relationship before.

After Leia spoke, she was overwhelmed with shame. She covered her face and rushed out of the ward. She could not fall in love casually any more. Even with her previous bad experiences, she had never been so hurt in a relationship before!

One should never fall in love! Leia had apparently pushed Shirley down the hill just now, and now, her loyal man was with her, so Leia could not ask about Quinton’’s affair. She decided to wait until Shirley got better before she spoke to her seriously. She wanted to see if she could find the mastermind, so she decided she would stay in the small mountainous village in the meantime. She would have to be wherever Shirley was.

Shirley was injured, so the shooting of Happy Days was paused for the time being. All the staff gathered in the small house to talk.

Adam noticed that Leia was sitting sulkily beside a pond in front of the house. He was worried that she might be taking things too hard, so he immediately went over to comfort her. “Miss Osborne, it’s normal to have accidents during shooting. I believe that you didn’t push Shirley on purpose, so don’t blame yourself and take things too hard. We promise that we won’t expose that recording, so you won’t be publicly criticized on the Internet either.”

“Take things too hard?” Leia turned around to look at Adam in confusion. “You’re overthinking. I’m not so dumb as to harm myself because of a playboy and pretentious witch.I’m not afraid of cyberbullying either. I’m very experienced because I was a top fan who tried hard to fight for my idol back then.”

Her reply amused Adam. “That’s good. I saw you staring at the pond for ages, so I thought you wanted to jump into it.”

“No, I won’t. I only feel like kicking those people gossiping about me into the pond. I just found many fish in this pond, and I’m thinking about barbecuing them.”

“Ha! Ha! Ha!” Adam burst into awkward laughter, at a loss for words. Leia was indeed a strange woman. He met a lot of people but it was the first time he had met someone so unique. She was tougher than a lot of the men on his team.

“Miss Osborne, may I ask what your relationship with Mr. Stuart is?” Adam nudged his glasses and asked carefully.

Their relationship would decide the future direction of this show, so he had to get an answer in advance.

“What relationship?” Leia frowned and tried hard to dwell on it. “Friends? Lovers? Enemies? Hmm… I don’t think we’re any of those. Maybe we’re just bedmates. We slept in the same room last night, after all.”

“Ahem, ahem!” Even if Adam was mentally prepared, he was caught off guard by her bluntness. Although she was rather bizarre, he found it easy to spend time with her; she was better than the hypocrites of the entertainment circle.

“No wonder you and Mr. Stuart look so close. He obviously favors you. It turns out that you guys have a rather extraordinary relationship.” Adam was a director and a shrewd person. He could see that Xavier cared about Leia very much, and now he had gained confirmation from Leia, so his desire to promote Leia and do Xavier a favor deepened.

“Well, now it’s just ordinary…”

Leia frowned. “I can’t say that either. What we have now should be extraordinary because we feel like killing each other.”

Adam assumed that she was purposely showing off her romance, and he smirked at her. “Don’t worry, Miss Osborne. We’re adults; I get it. I just want to ask if you’re interested in the entertainment industry. Do you want to get popular?”

“Popular?”

“Yeah, like being a fixed guest on this show. I’m sure we only need one season to make you popular given your character,” Adam said confidently. He wanted to do Xavier the favor, and he also wanted to be successful. After all, he had directed so many shows, and now he had reached a bottleneck. If he could promote someone at this point, his career would grow to another level.

“What benefits will it bring me if I’m popular?” Leia raised her brows and asked him with a smile.

“There are a lot of benefits. You’ll gain fame and profit, and when people slander you, your fans will help you fight them. What’s more, you can meet your idols. Isn;t that interesting?”

Adam sounded excited as he spoke, trying to persuade her.

“I can meet my idols?” Leia’s eyes soon lit up. Previously, she was a pure fangirl, but ever since she got involved with Xavier, she had stopped. Now that she had decided to stop loving him, her buried fangirl instincts emerged again.

“Of course! I have quite a lot of connections in the entertainment circle. I’ll invite your idol as a guest if you agree to be a fixed guest on this show. Tell me who you want to invite, and I’ll call him right away to invite him. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to meet your idol?” Adam was quite persuasive, and Leia was very much tempted. Adam could sense that she was giving in, so he quickly asked, “Can you tell me who your idol is? Is it a member of a male team? Or is he a hero in an old drama who’s gotten popular recently?”

“Both. Some of the idols I like are members of male teams or heroes in dramas. But there’s only one I truly admire…” Leia looked up shyly. When she recalled her idol’s elegant and handsome figure, she smiled like a love-struck fool.

“Who is it? I’m very curious.”

“He keeps a low profile. He shot a movie a few years ago but he’s under the radar when he’s not acting. He never joins any variety shows, and there are very few interviews with him. So, it’s useless even if I tell you—there’s no way you can invite him to the show.”
