“My name is enough.”

Vanessa hesitated.

Her wolf screamed inside her.

Mate. Accept mate.

She hated it.

But she had no choice.

“I… Vanessa of Stone Claw Pack…” she started.

Rafe’s grip tightened again.

“Finish it,” he warned.

Vanessa’s voice shook slightly.

“…accept you, Rafe… as my mate.”

The moment the words left her lips-

Rafe released her.

“I, Rafe… accept you, Vanessa of Stone Claw Pack… as my mate.”

The bond snapped into place.

Instant.

Heavy.

Unavoidable.

Vanessa staggered back slightly, coughing as she dragged air into her lungs.

Her hand flew to her throat.

She could feel it.

The bond.

Deep.

Binding.

There was no undoing it now.

Not without his agreement.

And she knew-

He would never give it.

Clam

A few moments passed in silence.

Vanessa steadied herself, her breathing slowly returning to normal.

Then she looked at him.

“Now,” she said coldly, “tell me what you meant by revenge.”

Rafe leaned back slightly against the bed, his expression dark.

“There is someone I need to kill.”

His voice was calm.

But filled with hatred.

“The one who killed my mate. She will pay for she did.”

Vanessa’s eyes narrowed.

“She?”

“Yes,” Rafe said.

His lips curled.

“Diana.”

He said her name like poison.

“The Alpha King’s mate.”

Vanessa froze.

Then slowly-

A-smile spread across her face.

“That bitch?” she said under her breath.

Rafe glanced at her

“You know her?”

Vanessa let out a bitter laugh.

“Know her?”

Her eyes darkened.

“She stole what should have been mine.”

Rafe frowned slightly.

“Talon,” Vanessa said.

“Alpha King Talon should have been mine.”

Her fists clenched.

“But that nobody came out of nowhere and took my place.”

Her voice dripped with resentment.

“She acts like she’s already the Luna Queen… just because Talon accepted her.”

Her jaw tightened.

“That position should have been mine.”

Inside Rafe’s mind, his wolf stirred again.

“Our mate… she wants someone else… Just like our previous mate.”

There was a hint of sadness in his wolf’s voice.

“Why won’t our mate look at us… and only us…”

Rafe ignored it completely.

He had no interest in emotional weakness.

He looked at Vanessa with calculating eyes.

“Then help me kill Diana,” he said.

His voice was cold.

Decisive.

“And Talon will be yours.”

Vanessa’s eyes gleamed.

If Diana died…

Talon would be alone.

And with Rafe bound to her-

She could reject him later.

And with Talon’s strength backing her…

Rafe would have no choice but to accept it.

A slow, dangerous smile formed on her lips.

“Deal.”

“We will mark each other before you leave this room,” Rafe said coldly, his eyes fixed on Vanessa. “Then you will inform your parents that you have accepted me as your mate.”

Vanessa stiffened.

“Do we really have to mark each other?” she asked, irritation clear in her tone. “We can already feel the bond. Isn’t that enough?”

Rafe’s expression darkened immediately.

“Do you think your parents are fools?” he asked sharply.

Vanessa frowned.

“You expect them to believe that we accepted each other but chose not to complete the bond?”

He let out a low, humorless chuckle.

“Use your head, Vanessa.”

His gaze sharpened, calculating and dangerous.

“Your father is an Alpha. Your mother is a Luna. They will question everything.”

He leaned slightly forward.

“And the moment they start asking questions…”

His voice dropped to a threatening whisper.

“The moment I feel even a hint that you are betraying me…”

His eyes locked onto hers.

“You already know what I will do.”

Vanessa swallowed hard, the memory of his hand around her throat still fresh.

“Okay… okay,” she said quickly. “You don’t have to threaten me.”

She crossed her arms defensively, trying to regain some composure.

“Just remember your part of the deal,” she added. “You kill Diana… and Talon will be mine.”

Her lips curled slightly with determination.

“Without that bitch, I know Talon won’t be able to refuse me.”

Rafe’s expression turned cold again.

“That is my goal,” he said simply.

“To kill Diana.”

His voice carried quiet hatred.

“She took my mate from me.”

There was a brief flicker of darkness in his eyes before it disappeared

Then he gestured toward her.

“Come here.”

Vanessa hesitated for a split second, but the pull of the bond-and the memory of his threat-pushed her forward.

Rafe reached out, gripping her arm firmly as he pulled her closer.

There was no gentleness in his touch.

No warmth.

Only control.

The moment was not romantic.

It was an agreement.

A transaction.

A dangerous alliance sealed through necessity, not love.
