“Get off my dick, Maya-God, not everything’s about Scarlett,” I snapped, jaw clenched, walking past her like the whole room didn’t stink of perfume and desperation. She was still on the couch, looking like she’d planned this scene all day.

“Maybe if you got a life of your own, you wouldn’t be sitting here like a goddamn accessory waiting to be touched.”Her face twisted. Irritation laced with anger evident.

“So you admit it. You still want her.”I spun aeouns glaring widelky at her.

“What part of shut the fuck up didn’t you get?” She stood, robe falling off one shoulder, eyes wide but burning

. “You know what your problem is? You act like I’m the extra in your life when I’m the one who’s been here for you! I’ve been here while you were crying over her. I stayed, Bryan. I stayed!”

“Exactly,” I bit back, stepping closer. “You stayed . Waiting to be picked. Always so scared, so damn insecure you can’t go a day without comparing yourself to Scarlett. You’ve got a whole damn inferiority complex and I’m not your therapist.”

Her hand came fast. The slap cracked against my cheek and echoed off the walls before I even processed it.For one second everything stilled.

Then I grabbed her hair, yanked her head back, eyes locked on hers as she gasped, nails clawing at my arm.

“Touch me again,” I growled, voice low, deadly. “And I swear, Maya-I’ll take your fucking fingers one by one. Don’t test me.” She whimpered

. “Bryan, you’re insane-” she retorted, with a shaky voice, fesr ebident in her eyes.

“Pack your shit.” I ordered coldly.

“What?”

“I said pack your fucking clothes and get out.”

“Have you gone mad?! We’re supposed to be mated soon-“

“I don’t care,” I snapped, shoving her away from me, watching her stumble backward to the floor. “I don’t give a damn about titles or ceremonies or fake-ass commitments made by parents who don’t even talk anymore. If you’re still here when I get back, I’ll drag you out myself.”

She scrambled to her feet, eyes wide with betrayal, fury, something in between. She stormed off, muttering curses, yanking her clothes from drawers, banging around like it would change anything.

I stood in the middle of the room, chest rising and falling too fast, my jaw sore, hands twitching like I hadn’t done enough damage yet.

Then my phone buzzed.

I picked it up, still breathing hardIt was a new mesdage from from the HR line.

Scarlett – FORMAL RESIGNATION RECEIVED. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

The breath left me in one shot.

“What the hell…”

I stared at the screen. My grip tightened. I felt that old pain crawl up my throat, wrap around my neck, press into my skull like fire. She left. She really left. And she didn’t say a word to me. No goodbye. No warning. No nothing.

I hit a call button.. I didn’t even think. Mythumb was already dialing before my brain caught up. She answered.

“…Scarlett?”

Scarlett’S POV

I’d barely gotten two words in before he started talking fast. Voice heavy with that tone he always used when he knew he’d messed up. Scarlett, I swear it wasn’t me. I didn’t know those pictures would be shown. I never would’ve- blah blah blah. I’d stopped listening halfway through. My head was pounding, and I was tired-tired of men explaining their damage after the damage was done. Tired of cleaning up feelings I didn’t ask to carry.

My wolf paced inside me. Quiet. Irritated. She didn’t want to hear his voice either. She didn’t even growl-she just turned her back, curled up, and shut her eyes like she was done with all of it.

And I felt the same. I hung up without saying goodbye. I just ended the call. No closure. No response. No more.

Now I sat at my cubicle, packing my things into a box that felt way too big for what little I had left. A few photos. A mug. My pen set. That stupid crystal paperweight Sarah got me last year that I swore I hated but never took off my desk.

I looked around the office. Everything felt duller now. Like I’d peeled off a version of myself and left her behind in these walls.

Sarah came over first, her heels clicking fast against the tile.

“You sure about this, Luna?” she asked, brows furrowed, trying to keep her voice low, but the worry in it bled through.

I gave a half-smile that didn’t even reach my eyes.

“Yeah. It’s time.”

“You know you don’t have to go just because of what happened,” Celine chimed in from behind, leaning over the cubicle divider.

“I mean, we all saw it, but… this place won’t be the same without you.”

“I appreciate that,” I said, voice tight, trying not to let the guilt creep in. “But I can’t stay somewhere my past keeps walking in uninvited. I just need-“

The crash hit before I could finish.

A loud slam-metal? Wood? Something heavy-echoed from the first floor.

Then shouting. A thud. And more yelling. Too much. The energy in the room shifted. Everyone froze.

My wolf instantly rose in me, alert now, ears forward, hackles up. We all looked at each other. Then we were moving. I dropped the mug back in the box and stepped around my desk fast. Sarah and Celine were right behind me.

We hadn’t even reached the bottom of the stairs when we saw it-voices had turned to screams and then there he was.

A man. Face twisted, breath wild, eyes empty like something inside him had snapped clean off. He was in the lobby, holding a knife like it was a goddamn gift from the moon goddess herself. Sharp. Long. Dirty. Shaking in one hand, waving it like a threat in the other.

And he was yelling.

At Bryan.

My heart dropped before I even understood why.

Bryan stood there, arms half-raised, muscles tensed, holding back that Alpha rage he couldn’t let loose just yet. His wolf was right under the surface-I could feel it. Everyone in the building could feel it. But even with his dominance, his strength, that knife was too damn close to his chest for me to stand there and just watch .

I didn’t think.
