More than that. I’m a grown ass woman. I’m almost thirty. And I can take what I want.

I abandon my stool and saunter down to the other end of the bar, letting my hair down in the process. I undo another button on my blouse to give just a sneak peek at the goods and then nestle in next to the guy, leaning on the bar to pretend like I’m getting the bartender’s attention. Instead, though, I glance over my shoulder at the guy and smile. “Hey.”

He smiles back. One cheek dimple. “Hey.”

“It’s like impossible to get service around here.” I sigh.

“It’s a busy night.”

“You come here often?”

He shrugs. “Somewhat. You?”

“Oh, all the time.”

“You do look a little familiar…”

I roll my eyes. “I bet you say that to all the girls.”

“No, not usually. Now, what do you want to drink?”

I shrug. “Surprise me.”

The guy laughs, a big guffaw. “Oh, you’re going to regret that.” He puts his fingers in his mouth and whistles so loud the bartender whips around at once.

I duck my face away so he doesn’t recognize me right off.

With a point in my direction, the man says, “Sex on the Beach!”

“Oh my god, you’re terrible.”

With a playful waggle of his eyebrows, he brings his whisky to his lips. “You asked for it.”

My drink comes, and the two of us continue shooting the shit, a veiled flirtation in every comment.

This guy is hot. Smoking hot. Not Dylan hot, but right now, I don’t care.

He seems like a player, which is just fine. I’m not looking for a husband here tonight. Just something to distract me. “This drink is going to give me a headache, and it’s going to be your fault.”

The guy slides his hand onto my waist and pulls his lips toward my ear. “Maybe I can take your mind off the headache with something else, then, hm?”

“Ehem.”

Fuck. My eyes shut. What is he doing here?

Dylan’s voice is deep and too close. “Seth, I didn’t know you were back from your trip.”

The guy I’ve been flirting with turns to face Dylan, however, I can’t bring myself to do it.

It’s not like I was doing something I shouldn’t. Just because I feel some weird attachment to him doesn’t mean we are in a relationship or that we can’t be with other people. Which he just was.

So what if I was jealous? Doesn’t mean he feels the same.

But at the same time, I don’t want him to feel like I’ve forgotten about him. Because then maybe he’ll feel even more inclined to forget about me.

Wait a second…

Seth…

Seth?

No way. This is Bridget’s stepbrother, Seth Vance. Now, this is fucking rich.

The one time I try and have a little fun, I end up stepping into another situation that’s off-limits.

“Yep, got back just last night. Thought I’d see how things are around here.” Seth looks in my direction. “They’re looking good.”

“Yes, I see you’ve met our new operations manager, Olivia Lombardi.”

Seth’s suave expression melts into a crinkly frown. “That’s how I know you. You were at the masquerade, weren’t you? You were dancing with-” Seth stops and looks at Dylan. “Ah…”

“Fucking great,” I mutter to myself, putting my hand over my eyes and leaning on the bar.

“You mind if I talk with Olivia privately for a moment, Seth?”

What now? It’s not like I’m the only one who is fooling around with customers. Or those I thought were customers. Yeesh.

And why do I feel like I’ve done him wrong when he was just getting busy with someone?

God, sometimes, I hate myself.

“No problem. In fact, why don’t you take my seat?” Seth touches my arm. “Nice to meet you, Olivia.”

“You too.” I can’t bring myself to look at him.

I keep my eyes in the pool of swirly orange red Sex on the Beach as Dylan settles into the stool beside me. That headache is coming on faster than I expected.

“Flirting with Solomon’s son, are we?”

“I had no idea he was Solomon’s son.” My eyes stay glued to the glass.

“He’s been on a business trip the past month. Expanding his company.”

I drink my cocktail and lick my lips. “Good for him.”

Dylan leans toward me. Closer and closer. And I hate myself for noticing.

I hold my breath.

“It’s very unprofessional to flirt with customers, let alone members, Olivia.”

“You’re one to talk.”

Dylan chuckles in my ear, a dark rumble I wish I could feel pressed up against my inner thigh. “What are you talking about?”

I snap my attention at him, causing Dylan to straighten up too. “I just saw you go downstairs with-“

Now you’ve done it, Olivia. You’ve proven you’re the jealous type. And you don’t even have a valid reason. He isn’t yours.

“Ah, so you saw me with another woman, and you got jealous.”

“No!” Okay, that sounded way more defensive than it needed to. “I’m just saying if you’re going to expect us to be professional, you should lead by example.”

Dylan lifts his chin, just a slight tilt, giving me a good view of his sharp jawline.

I want to feel his stubble scraping up against my face again, want to feel how raw it will make my thighs, want him to have my essence left behind on his beard so he can smell me all day.

God, this is so bad.

“You’re right. Good thing I wasn’t flirting with her.”

I scoff. “I saw you.”

Dylan grins. “You were watching me?”

The hole I’ve dug myself is so deep there’s no way I’m climbing out. “She was hanging on you, and you were smiling and whispering and-“

Dylan grabs my knee.

I gasp, marveling at the spot where his hand has connected with my skin.

Thank god the lip of the bar casts our lower bodies in shadow and the lights in the VIP lounge are too distracting for anyone to care about a man touching a woman’s knee.

“Olivia.”

I lift my head and stare into his onyx eyes.

His smile has faded, turned into something more serious. “Do you think that’s how I flirt, Olivia?”

“I…I don’t know.” His grip is making it hard to even think.
