Mick closed his eyes and reached towards the part of his body where his blood was concentrated. The image that appeared in his mind was surprisingly Nancy’s.

It had been a month since she resigned, and she had already arranged with the landlord to sublet her rental.

She had packed all the luggage she needed to take, bought her high-speed train ticket, and in two days, she would completely leave Emerald City.

As a small person like her, leaving a city would have no impact on the city whatsoever.

It was like a drop of water leaving a pond, and no one would care!

Only two days left!

Nancy walked aimlessly on the street.

In the last two days she had in Emerald City, she wanted to take a good look at the city where she grew up and where she met Mick.

In the future, she might never set foot in Emerald City again.

When she passed by the People’s Park in Emerald City, her footsteps suddenly stopped.

This was the place where she had wanted to come with Mick.

When she saw the news, it mentioned a hundred-year-old tree in the People’s Park that many young people had worshipped as a wishing tree.

Many people would come to the tree to make wishes. Even the park had set up a wishing fence next to the tree. Tourists could buy wishing ribbons launched by the park, tie them to the fence after making a wish.

In Nancy’s opinion, this was more like a revenue-generating project launched by the park.

However, there are many posts online that say this wishing tree is very effective.

So, Nancy mentioned it to Mick at the time.

And he said, “Then let’s go together in the future, make a wish, and see if it really works.”

But there was no “future” between them in the end.

After a while, Nancy arrived at the wishing tree.

Because this tree is very famous online, it was not difficult to find.

At the fence under the tree, Nancy saw many ribbons of different colors tied up. Were there thousands or tens of thousands?

As she stood under the tree, several other tourists were also there.

Some female tourists even had their hands clasped together, obviously making a wish.

It seems that women always believe in wishing more.

Nancy went to the small shop next to the tree and bought a ribbon for wishing.

Then she clasped her hands together under the tree and made a serious wish.

First wish: Mick can be safe and healthy in the future.

Second wish: Mick can be happy and joyful!

Third wish: One day in the future, Mick can find someone he truly loves.

Even when making her third wish, Nancy still feels a sharp pain in her heart.

She knows that she and Mick can never be together in this lifetime!

But she still feels the pain.

How much longer will it take for her to let go of her feelings for him?

Or will she hold onto this hopeless love for the rest of her life, until she’s old and gray and lying in her coffin?

After making her wish, Nancy opens her eyes and walks to the fence, tying the wish ribbon onto it.

If her three wishes can really come true, that would be great.

As she turns around after tying the ribbon, she suddenly freezes at the sight of a figure not far away.

Why is Mick…here?!

My Gorgeous

She promised she wouldn’t appear in front of him again, but now they’ve accidentally run into each other.

At this moment, Mick seems to be looking at the trees and doesn’t seem to have noticed her.

Nancy lowers her head and plans to quietly leave without attracting his attention.

But after taking a few steps, a pair of black leather shoes suddenly catch her eye.

Nancy looks up and sees the familiar handsome face right in front of her.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t know you were here,” she said. If she had known he would come here too, she would have tried to avoid it.

Mick looked down at the person in front of him. He was only here because he happened to drive by.

Thinking of the “wishing tree” she had mentioned before, he unconsciously got out of the car and walked to the tree.

He just didn’t expect to see her making a wish under the tree.

Even at the moment he saw her figure, he instinctively doubted whether it was real or an illusion.

Because she had appeared in his dreams many times during this period.

“What did you wish for just now?” he asked.

Nancy was startled. “I…I wished for good health and well-being in the future.”

In the end, she didn’t tell him the truth. Even if she did, he would only mock her.

“Health?” Mick looked at her with disdain. “Is that your wish? As always, it’s only about yourself.”

She remained silent, accepting his mockery.

“But here, you don’t deserve to make a wish.” He walked over to the fence where she had tied the ribbon earlier and reached out to pull it off.

“No!” She saw what he was about to do and rushed over to stop him. “Don’t take the ribbon off!”

If it was taken off, the wish would supposedly not come true.

The three wishes she had made before leaving Emerald City were her last wishes, and she hoped they would come true.

She knew it was just a superstition, that wishes were only wishes and not reality.

But…she still didn’t want him to take off the ribbon.

“What if I insist on taking it off?” Mick asked.

He knew how ridiculous he was being, but every time he saw her, an unnamed anger rose in his heart.

Nancy bit her lip and suddenly said, “You said it yourself that day. We have no relationship between us anymore, and we will only be strangers in the future. If that’s the case, Mr. Reed, as a stranger, what right do you have to take off the ribbon I tied?”

Her retort made him stiffen, and his black eyes narrowed.

“You–”

“If you really want to take it off, I can tie it again. You take it off once, I tie it once. It’s just that you’re breaking your own words, Mr. Reed. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous?” Nancy continued.

Mick’s eyes were cold, and it was ridiculous… really ridiculous!

“Nancy, this is my final warning to you. Don’t let me see you again! Otherwise, even if you’re a stranger,

I can make it so you’ll never be able to walk again!” Mick turned around and warned.

Nancy’s eyes dimmed, “In two days, I will leave Emerald City, and I probably won’t come back again.

So, Mr. Reed, you won’t see me again in this lifetime.”

His footsteps paused. The three words “in this lifetime” were like a sharp pain in his nerves, causing a sudden pain in his body.

“Also,” Nancy paused, “I know that what I’m saying now, you may not believe anymore, and you may think it’s a lie. But I still want to say thank you for getting justice for my mother. If one day you need me, even if it means risking my life, I will repay you.”

“Repay me?” He snorted coldly, not even turning to look at her. “What ability do you have to repay me?

What do I need you to do for me? In front of me, you’re just a useless person!”

After saying this, Mick left without hesitation.

Nancy stood alone under the tree, her face full of bitterness.

Yes, even if she was willing to risk her life for him, he didn’t need it at all.

She couldn’t even give him the slightest bit of repayment!

At night, Mick didn’t sleep. Instead, he went to the ancestral hall in the Reed family mansion.

In that ancestral hall, there was his grandfather’s tablet and a picture of his grandfather hanging on the wall.

He knew the story of his grandfather and grandmother.

Mick’s grandfather once left the Reed family because he loved his grandmother so much that he was willing to give up everything for her.

However, his grandmother couldn’t bear the poverty of their life and left him.

In the end, Mick’s grandfather passed away, and his grandmother has been repenting ever since. But

Mick’s father has never forgiven her.

“Big brother, why are you here so late?” Jasper’s voice rang out.

Mick turned around and looked at his sister. “Why are you here too?”

“I saw you walking here from the window, so I followed to see what was going on,” Jasper said. “Why did you come to the ancestral hall so late?”

“I couldn’t sleep, so I came to take a look,” Mick said, turning his gaze to the photo of his grandfather hanging above the ancestral hall. “Do you know why Grandpa chose to commit suicide after he found out that Grandma was using him?”
