Putting the pieces together, Josh asked nervously, “Daddy, do you mean she was the one in my room?”

Anthony nodded and called Jack to check the surveillance camera.

Unfortunately, they had no luck as the recording had been stopped by someone.

Josh felt a sense of fear. People with strange behavior were scarier than spirits.

Anthony looked up at Blake, who returned the gaze. They were both thinking the same thing.

Blake nodded and raised his voice slightly. “Then I’ll go back to my room first.”

“Alright,” Anthony said.

“Dad, can I sleep in your room?” Josh requested.

Anthony agreed and took Josh to his room.

The Crawford mansion fell silent once again.

A few moments later, the door on the first floor was pushed open, and a figure silently floated in.

Blake crouched on top of the beam, secretly sneering at the sight.

Normal people who have been caught in the act would never dare to do it again right away. Either this maid is incredibly strange or she doesn’t think rationally.

Blake was more inclined to believe that she was a psychopath.

Ashley ascended the stairs without making a sound. The strange thing was that she looked like a lonely figure lurking around in the middle of the night.

Blake frowned, feeling an eerie sensation…

In the room, Josh lay on the bed with his hands on his belly.

Anthony brought out a thin bed quilt. “Let’s sleep.”

Josh moved closer to Anthony since the room was dark without a night light.

“Dad?”

“Yes?” Anthony replied, not yet asleep.

He’s still awake, Josh thought.

“Dad… Many people say that my brother and I were born from test tubes. They say we exist solely to provide a match for Aunt Ashley. Is it true?”

“Who told you that?” Anthony asked, his eyes closed.

“Everyone says so.”

They had grown up without a mother, only a father. There was no trace of their mother’s existence. That’s why others claimed that Josh and Drake were carefully selected from test tubes. Their birth was solely to provide a suitable match for their aunt, who was in the final stage of leukemia. There was no suitable match for her anywhere in the world.

“Why was there a need to separate the test tubes then?”

Josh and Drake were over a year apart.

Josh was speechless as he pondered over it.

Anthony was about to speak when he sensed something. He turned and stared at the door.

Josh followed his gaze and tensed up.

There was always a small gap beneath a door, otherwise, it would create friction with the floor when opened or closed. Through the gap, they could see someone standing outside.

A few moments later, the shadow moved forward and disappeared.

Josh was so frightened that he nearly wet himself.

Lilly’s room.

She was sound asleep when a sudden gust of wind brushed against her cheek. Polly, her parrot, made some deep squeaky noises on the balcony. Parrots made this sound in the middle of the night when they sensed threats from other creatures.

Soon, the sound ceased.

Lilly opened her eyes and stared blankly at the ceiling.

Her eyelids were half-closed, and she was half-asleep.

The surroundings were quiet. When the door was gently opened, Lilly looked over in confusion.

She saw a figure entering, gradually approaching her…

Lilly could clearly see the figure walking towards her bedside, staring directly at her.

Suddenly, Lilly exclaimed, “Aunt Ashley, what are you doing?”

Ashley was startled by the child’s voice in the darkness. She shrieked.

“Ahh!”

She hurriedly backed away but accidentally stepped on something, causing a loud noise.

The headless female spirit frightened Ashley so much that she momentarily separated from her, causing her head to shift by 0.03 feet.

Lilly could now see her and exclaimed in shock, “Ah, so you were hiding here!”

No wonder she couldn’t find her, no matter how hard she tried.

Lilly immediately got up and reached out to grab the head of the headless female spirit.

“Come out now…”

Lilly stood on the bed and twisted the headless female spirit’s head with all her strength, as if pulling a carrot.

Ashley quickly held her head with a hint of pain, then her expression became stiff and rigid.

She made a “huh” sound and said, “Ms. Lilly… what are you saying?”

Ashley showed a fierce expression.

How could this little girl even think of catching her?!

Being loved by many people and born into a wealthy family, why couldn’t it be her?!

Although she wanted to be as clever as Josh, being this little girl was more suitable.

Ashley reached out to viciously grab Lilly’s neck, but suddenly a black lightning bolt flashed from the balcony.

Blake’s eyes gleamed with killing intent as he was about to slap Ashley away.

But he saw Lilly suddenly grab Ashley’s hand and fling her away.

“Go away!” The little girl said in a childish voice.

Boom! Ashley crashed into a nearby toy shelf, causing it to collapse and the toys to scatter all over the ground.

All of this happened in an instant, leaving

Blake stunned.

Was this his little sweetheart?!

Hannah, sleeping on the bed, seemed annoyed by the noise, frowning and turning over while muttering something, and soon fell asleep again.
