The head turned and glared at Josh, mouth wide open.

Josh was shocked.

“Josh, don’t panic!” Lily said.

She ran towards Josh and yelled, “Attack!”

The head was kicked like a ball and flew out of the window.

The female spirit aimlessly floated out.

“Josh, you stay here,” Lilly ordered as she chased after her.

How could he dare to stay in the room by himself? He hurriedly said, “Wait for me!”

Both of them ran out, leaving behind the iron bowl and video recorder.

The light on the video recorder flickered, capturing what had just happened…

Lilly ran downstairs. Old Mr. Crawford and Blake stopped their conversation and looked at her.

They saw Lilly running out.

“Lilly? Where are you going?” Old Mrs. Crawford moved her wheelchair to follow.

Blake stood up and pushed the wheelchair. Old Mrs. Crawford looked back at him, surprised.

She caught up with Lilly soon and saw her running to the back of the garden.

Lilly searched the air and the flower bed, looking for something.

Blake asked, “What are you looking for? Let me help you.”

Lilly shook her head. “Daddy, you won’t be able to find it.”

“There’s nothing Daddy can’t find,” Blake said confidently.

He assumed it was Lilly’s toy that had fallen. Finding something was as easy as pie for him.

Lilly shook her head and remained silent. What should she do in case Granny gets scared?

Last time, Granny was shocked by Ivan, who was covered in blood.

Josh arrived and looked around nervously. He no longer saw the female spirit.

Once he calmed down, he calculated again. “According to the parabola…”

He visually measured the distance from the window to the garden, as well as the angle at which the female spirit’s head flew out.

“It should be over here…”

It could be found unless the female spirit changed direction halfway…

Lilly didn’t know what a parabola meant.

She only had a hunch where the head landed. However, she couldn’t find it either.

The body of the female spirit was also missing.

“It’s strange. It’s strange!” Lilly frowned and muttered.

Old Mrs. Crawford asked, “What is Lilly looking for? Granny asked everyone to help look for it.”

Lilly had to give up for the time being. “Nothing, Granny. I dropped something.”

Old Mrs. Crawford looked at Josh strangely.

“Well, it’s true. I teased her and told her I threw her toy out of the window. She believed it,” Josh replied.

The crowd was left speechless.

“Don’t always tease your sister! She will believe anything you say.”

“I know!” Josh quickly responded.

Blake glanced back and forth between Lilly and Josh.

Not bad, young man. You’re skilled at concealing, but there’s still a hint of deception.

“Let’s return,” Mrs. Crawford suggested.

They turned around and headed back, unaware that a woman was standing behind the bushes.

In the garden, a maid strained her neck and twisted her body awkwardly. She quickly adjusted herself to face the same direction. Her arms were positioned as if she were holding something, indicating that she was accustomed to it. She grabbed a flower basket and held it in her arms, finally showing a satisfied smile.

Blake suddenly turned around, sensing something. He saw a maid carrying a flower basket and holding a cutter in her hand, quietly minding her own business. Blake couldn’t quite put his finger on what was wrong with her. If he had seen the female spirit earlier, he would have recognized her by her identical movements. Unfortunately, he couldn’t see spirits.

It turned out that Lilly had accidentally kicked the female spirit into the maid’s body. Blake took Lilly back into the house, interrupting their conversation.

“Are you hungry, Lilly?” Old Mrs. Crawford

was about to say, “Granny will cook something delicious for you,” but she corrected herself and said, “Granny will ask your daddy to cook for you.”

A successful dad needed to have superb cooking skills to feed his child. The food outside was not as healthy as home-cooked meals. Hiring a maid to cook was not an option. What if she had an attitude problem?

“Are you sure?” Blake asked, as the only time he had ever held a knife was to hurt people. He noticed the Crawford family staring at him. Lilly made a cheering gesture and said, “Daddy, you can do it!”

“Okay,” Blake agreed. Since Lilly believed he could do it, he must be able to.

Cooking is simply a matter of preparing the ingredients, putting them in the pot, and taking them out when they are cooked. It’s not difficult at all.

Blake unbuttoned his shirt, loosening it slightly. Anthony noticed that Blake was dressed more formally today, wearing a shirt and pants instead of his usual style. He must have considered this meeting important.

Blake earned some points with the Crawford family.

Old Mrs. Crawford said, “There are three chickens in the kitchen that you need to kill. You’ll need to make three different dishes using each chicken.” Blake nodded and rolled up his sleeves, saying, “Simple.”

Killing chickens is nothing compared to killing humans.

Old Mrs. Crawford added, “Also, make a dish with eggplant. Lilly loves them. If you don’t know how to cook them, ask Margaret.”

“For the rest of the dishes, use whatever ingredients you find in the kitchen. You’ll probably need to cook eighteen dishes. Oh, and make some omelets too. The kids love them.”

Blake was surprised. So many dishes for one meal?

As Blake worked in the kitchen, Josh whispered, “Lilly, let’s go upstairs.” He was anxious about not finding the female spirit.

Lilly wasn’t too worried and ran to the kitchen, saying, “Wait! I’ll go check on Daddy!”

In the kitchen, Margaret handed an apron to Blake and asked, “Mr. MacNeil, start by killing the chicken! Do you need help? The chickens can be quite lively.”

When Blake saw Lilly running in, he changed what he was about to say. “No,” he replied. He needed to maintain his dignity in front of his daughter.

Blake brought out the chickens but didn’t know what to do. He had only seen others kill them. He took a knife and spun it in his hands. Margaret was shocked and stood in front of Lilly, ready to protect her in case the knife slipped.

“Start by plucking the feathers,” Margaret instructed. “I mean the feathers on the chicken’s neck,” she added.

Blake nodded and began plucking the chicken feathers. Then, he held the chicken with one hand and a knife in the other. The chicken struggled, but Blake held on.

“Daddy is awesome!” Lilly exclaimed. However, she quickly added, “Daddy, let’s eat the chicken that’s already cooked next time. Don’t kill them anymore, okay?” In Lilly’s mind, a chicken that wasn’t cooked yet meant it didn’t want to die yet.

Blake nodded, “Alright.” He quickly slit the chicken’s neck while Lilly covered her eyes. He held the chicken’s neck over a bowl to let the blood drain into it. Old Mrs. Crawford watched from a distance and remarked, “I thought he couldn’t do it, but he seems to be doing a good job.” Blake earned some more points.
