Filed to story: A Little Princess's Journey from Darkness to Light Novel
Blake glanced lightly at the MacNeil family.
Although he had harmed Kevin, he hadn’t confronted Jerome and Giuliana.
Lilly was clever. After living with the Crawford family for some time, she had expanded her vocabulary and improved her ability to express herself. Lilly began to explain, “That granny was celebrating her birthday. She invited us over but wouldn’t allow us to enter. Uncle Butler told us to sit over there.”
Lilly pointed to a dark corner next to the gate.
“Uncle Anthony got angry, and I said Uncle Butler was impolite. Uncle Anthony corrected me and said he was uneducated. Then, Uncle Butler got angry and secretly pushed me down.”
Lilly knew that Blake could help her seek justice, so she seized the opportunity to complain, “I almost fell twice, and my hand hurts!”
Blake’s eyes turned cold. He took Lilly’s hand and gently stroked her reddened wrist.
“And then?” Blake signaled for Lilly to continue.
The MacNeil family was terrified and about to explain. Unexpectedly, Blake’s icy glare left them speechless with fear.
Lilly continued, “That granny asked me to apologize to Uncle Butler and wouldn’t let us leave.”
Blake asked, “Did you apologize?”
Lilly shook her head. “No apologies needed!”
The coldness in Blake’s eyes gradually dissipated, and he smiled. “Well done.”
He knew what had transpired afterward. As his mission was challenging, he had arrived in Clodston an hour later than expected.
As soon as he disembarked from the plane, he drove straight to the MacNeil family. Along the way, he wondered if Lilly had made it there. So he accessed the MacNeil family’s surveillance footage. It was just in time to witness them preventing Lilly from entering and teaching her a lesson.
Observing Blake’s coldness and hostility, Giuliana quickly explained, “It was a misunderstanding! We had no knowledge of her true identity! It’s all Kevin’s fault!”
Blake sneered. “Oh? But you were the one who suggested teaching my daughter a lesson.”
Giuliana stammered. “I… I didn’t mean that…”
She felt aggrieved. She was an elder, yet she had to submit to someone so young.
Jerome glared at Giuliana and pretended to be angry. “Look at the foolish things you’ve done! You jumped to conclusions without knowing anything!”
Giuliana said, “I… I was just too impulsive…”
Jerome smiled broadly. “Blake, your grandmother was simply confused. Don’t blame her…”
Blake looked down on them with an indifferent gaze. “Confused? Are you trying to deceive me?”
Giuliana held her breath and could only apologize to Lilly in front of everyone. “I’m sorry! I was wrong!”
Blake sneered, then looked at Lilly. “Are you satisfied?”
If Lilly wasn’t satisfied, he would make them apologize again. He would continue until Lilly was content!
The MacNeil family anxiously watched Lilly. Fortunately, Lilly nodded and said, “Yes, but I don’t want to say it doesn’t matter.”
Blake smiled. “That’s fine.”
Giuliana breathed a sigh of relief and immediately changed the subject. “Lilly, you’re so kind! Why didn’t you tell me that Blake is your father? If you had told me earlier, I wouldn’t have done something so foolish!”
Jerome also smiled warmly. “What a coincidence! It turns out Lilly is our great-granddaughter!”
Their contemptuous and haughty expressions from before had vanished, and they all rushed to win Lilly’s favor.
Giuliana smiled and reached out to Lilly. “Lilly, I’m your great-grandmother! Let’s hug!”
Jerome said emotionally, “In the blink of an eye, we have a great-grandchild. Having a family with four generations is a blessing!”
They smiled at Lilly, hoping she would acknowledge them as her great-grandparents. If she did, it would resolve all the issues from today.
Unfortunately, Lilly didn’t even look at them. She turned her head with a snort. “I don’t want the two of you to be my great-grandpa and great-grandma!”
Lilly pondered. John had said that Erick’s grandson was Blake, and Blake was her father. Daddy’s dad was grandpa, and Daddy’s grandpa was great-grandpa. So her great-grandpa should be Erick.
“My great-grandpa and great-grandma are dead,” Lilly said, “You two have nothing to do with me.”
John had revealed that her great-grandpa
Erick had been exposed as a spy and had faced retaliation from the enemy. Her great-grandma and grandparents had all died, leaving only Blake as the survivor.
Giuliana and Jerome froze. Jerome explained with a forced smile, “Your great-grandpa is my brother. That means I’m also your great-grandpa!”
Lilly looked at Blake in confusion. Blake looked back at her and explained, “Your great-grandpa didn’t have any siblings.”
Lilly understood. “So they’re impostors?”
Blake agreed with Lilly and nodded firmly. “That’s correct.”
The people around them were surprised and exchanged glances. It turned out that the MacNeil family had no connection to the God of Battle.
Giuliana and Jerome felt embarrassed.
They disagreed with Lilly. Jerome and Erick were cousins, which meant they were still Blake’s relatives. Now that Blake had changed, they couldn’t miss the opportunity to have such a wonderful grandson.
Giuliana forced a smile. “Lilly, you can’t accuse us of being fake. Cousins are like brothers…”
Jerome chimed in, “Yeah, we all share the blood of the MacNeil family!”
Blake scoffed coldly. “The blood of the MacNeil family? Unfortunately, you don’t deserve it!”
His eyes were devoid of any emotion.
“When my grandpa and parents passed away, I went to South City to find you. But what happened?” Blake mockingly smiled. “You were afraid of getting involved. So, when you found out I had arrived at the bus station, you quickly arranged for someone to drive me out of the city. The next day, you all moved to the coastal area overnight!”
Blake couldn’t find them at all. At the age of seven, fear and confusion overwhelmed his instinctive search for refuge with his relatives. Unfortunately, they didn’t offer any help.
Destiny is always unpredictable. Who would have thought he would survive?
Lilly didn’t understand why a sense of sadness slowly overwhelmed her as she listened to Blake speak so indifferently about the past.
So, Daddy used to be just like me. He had no relatives or parents, and others saw him as an unlucky child.
Lilly pursed her lips and wordlessly hugged Blake’s neck. Feeling Lilly’s support, Blake was taken aback.
“Hmm?” Blake raised an eyebrow.
Is she comforting me? Lilly’s comforting gesture softened and warmed his heart.
As Blake exposed the MacNeil family’s lies, they were at a loss for words and could only offer embarrassed smiles. “Uh… there must be some misunderstanding…”
After hearing Blake’s words, everyone finally understood. It turned out that Jerome and Erick were cousins! When Erick was exposed and killed, Jerome feared for his safety, so he sent Blake away and moved overnight.
That wasn’t what the MacNeil family had claimed when they arrived in Clodston. Jerome had told everyone that Erick was suffering and wished he could take his brother’s place. When sending out invitations to guests, Jerome and Giuliana had even emphasized that the God of War was their grandson.
Their actions led the guests, who were unaware of the truth, to believe that the sacrificed Erick was Jerome’s older brother.
“There is a distant relationship between cousins and great-grandpas, let alone between brothers.”
“They ran away so quickly to avoid getting hurt, yet they took the medal of honor! They didn’t look for their grandnephew for ten years, but as soon as they heard he became the God of Battle, they rushed to approach him again!”
“They’re shameless!”
“Would they still meet with Chief MacNeil if he were just an ordinary guy?”
“Of course not. Didn’t you see that? The Crawford family brought Little Miss here, but the MacNeil family didn’t acknowledge her. They’re arrogant and believe that only government officials are worthy of their attention.”
