I follow suit, getting to my feet. I don’t want to look like I’m begging for her on my knees.

Unless she’d like that…

“I will, but I will try not to.” I smile and give her a curt nod.

Olivia smiles back. Delicious, closed lips I could kiss again and again and again if circumstances weren’t what they are.

“Thank you, Dylan.”

I leave her office, making sure the door stays closed behind me, and then skid to a stop.

Shit. I was supposed to bring her with me. Can’t go back now, though, that’d be too awkward.

I walk away from Olivia’s office with my head ducked while I try and come up with a fib about why she’s not with me to tell Farley.

All the way back, my lips are still vibrating from her kiss.

OLIVIA POV

I don’t spend much time in the nightclub, but Farley, Hazel, and a few others invited me to stay for a drink after my shift. It’s been weeks since I’ve done anything social, which is my fault for being a workaholic, so I thought, what the hell? Nothing is more convenient than having a drink at my workplace. Especially in the VIP lounge area.

Hazel looks at all of us and the corner of her mouth upturns. “I had a guy proposition me.”

I blink. “You’re not supposed to talk about what happens in scenes, Hazel.”

She laughs. “That’s just it! It wasn’t in a scene. It wasn’t even in the club. That’s why it is so funny. He asked me if I needed a Daddy.”

My chin almost hits the floor. “You’re serious? Who was he?”

“I’m very serious. Picture this.” She leans forward, and we all lean in too. “I’m at the supermarket, and I’m wearing an outfit I sometimes wear at home when I’m feeling little.”

She shakes her head as she smirks. “Before you ask, you know I’m only comfortable showing that side of me here, so I have no idea what I was thinking.”

“You were thinking you wanted to feel good about yourself, so nothing wrong with that. You do you, boo,” Farley says.

“Yass, girl.” Gina snaps her fingers and laughs, so we all join in.

“What happened next?” I’m so curious.

I don’t think I could ever be brave enough to do what they do, either here or anywhere else, though I am more than a little curious about some parts of the lifestyle.

Hazel takes a sip of her drink. “I said yes and asked if he was offering.”

Farley shakes his head as he empties his glass. “Girl, you are a menace.”

With his hand, he signals the bartender to get us another round.

My glass is still half-full, so I drink some of it from the straw. “Why would you do that?”

She works here as a sub, so wouldn’t that be something a lover might frown upon?

“Because…” Her cheeks turn red, and her eyes go to her glass.

Gina starts chanting, “Ohmygod, ohmygod, ohmygod.”

“WHAT?” Farley and I shout together.

Gina looks at us and, points her finger at Hazel. “You guys, she likes him. She likes the Daddy guy.” Facing Hazel, she adds, “Don’t you?”

Taking a draw from her straw, she nods, and her cheeks go even redder.

“What did he say?” Farley is almost on top of the table now. “Was he serious or just trying to start up a conversation?”

“He was serious,” she whispers. “He said if the position is open, he’d very much like to apply and that he always dreamed of having a little princess like me.”

Her smile is huge now, and Farley and Gina are jumping in their seats.

As I lean down to catch the straw of my gin and tonic between my lips, all my thoughts are about my life and how I wish the universe would throw me a bone too.

As I sip, I survey the room, trying to avoid the joy at the table. I’m really happy for Hazel. I just feel bad for myself as well. Why can’t I be propositioned by someone too?

And I know just the someone I’d love would do the propositioning.

My eyes fall on something that has me doing a double-take.

A sight I’d rather not see.

It’s Dylan. And he’s not alone. There’s a woman draped in the tiniest bit of scarlet fabric glomming onto his arm. The two of them are talking very close up against the back wall.

She grabs his arm, hoisting herself up toward his ear.

As I watch, a smile spreads across his face.

I think I’m going to be sick.

Since our kiss last week, my body has been in overdrive with want for Dylan.

I knew the wall between employer and employee was growing weaker, I just didn’t expect it to start crumbling so soon after I decided Nate wasn’t enough of a deterrent.

That’s why I pushed Dylan away. I knew that if I didn’t stop it, all would be lost and we’d be…

Well, who knows. It’s easier to be heartbroken over one kiss rather than going all the way with someone only to be destroyed at the end.

I would much rather have called it quits then than sleep with Dylan only for him to turn around and say, “That was great but can never happen again.”

That doesn’t mean I don’t still want him. Or that I don’t have regrets.

And watching him with this blonde model on his arm just proves the fact even more that I want him so badly I might explode.

To add insult to injury, Dylan reaches down, grabs her hand, and pulls her in the direction of the hallway where the bathrooms are. And beyond that…access to the Hill Club.

I have no reason to even guess at where they might be going. But my mind has no trouble jumping to one thing and one thing only.

He’s taking her to The Underground. He’s going to do nasty things with her.

And she’s going to become the new object of his affection because she isn’t off-limits like I am.

“What about you, Olivia, any news on the love front?” Farley’s voice snaps my attention back to the table.

“Have you met me? When would I even have the time? What about you, Farley? Roundabout is fair play.”

“Yeah, right. Because I’m here less time than you?” Farley sasses.

I laugh, though my heart isn’t in it. I just saw Dylan disappear down a hall just like he did with me all those weeks ago at the masquerade.

It should be me he takes down there. Not her. Whoever she is.

Maybe it’s the anger, or maybe it’s the gin, but I’m not going to sit here and let him have all the fun. I sit up on my stool and look down the long bar at all the patrons. I scan each face. No…no…no…

My eyes land on a guy toward the end of the bar who is chatting with the bartender a bit as he receives his drink. Looks like whisky neat.

Cute enough dude. Sexy drink. Easy enough.

Farley cocks an eyebrow. “What are you looking at?”

“My prey for the evening.”

Gina, Hazel, and Farley laugh. They must think I’m joking. But I’m not.

“Which one is it?”

I knock back the rest of my gin and tonic. “Light brown hair, whisky, great eyebrows.”

Farley does a double-take. “Uh, you sure you want to do that?”

“Yeah, why not? He’s hot.”

“He’s-“

Hazel grabs Farley’s arm. “Let her, she’s a big girl.”
