“Nothing! It’s okay,” Josh said calmly.
He paused for a moment and then got excited. “The people on the internet didn’t believe him, right? He will upload this video to scare them.”
Josh uploaded the video with the caption, “Ignorant humans, you know nothing about this world.”
A few viewers watched the video as soon as it was uploaded.
“What? Poor graphics. Rubbish.”
“There are no spirits in this world. Just believe in science. Stop wasting your time on useless things, kid.”
“Again? Can’t you afford a higher quality video recorder if you truly have the ability to see spirits? It’s always blurry in supernatural videos. I was aware of your deceptive techniques.”
Josh felt frustrated by the mocking remarks.
Lilly gently patted Josh’s shoulders and said, “Josh, don’t give up.”
“I’m not a young man,” Josh replied dejectedly.
“Kiddo, don’t give up!” Lilly encouraged him again.
About an hour later, Old Mrs. Crawford shouted from downstairs, “The food is ready! Come down quickly! Lilly, Drake, Josh, Zachary, Hannah!”
The sound of children upstairs could be heard.
Lilly was definitely the one running, while Zachary was dilly-dallying.
Hannah was doing her homework in her room.
She looked up pitifully and said, “Daddy, can
we eat first?”
Liam remained silent, standing by his decision. He wouldn’t allow her to leave until she finished her homework.
Hannah was spoiled by Winona. Despite being in kindergarten, she couldn’t read a word.
Two of Anthony’s children were top students. Lilly was also intelligent and clever. Liam felt pressure as a father because one of his children was not as bright and another was addicted to video games.
Hannah cried, “I’m only in kindergarten. Why do I have to do homework? Other kids don’t have to do it.”
“Don’t compare,” Liam replied expressionlessly. He was impatiently waiting for Hannah to finish her homework.
Hannah wanted to go eat with Lilly.
Liam didn’t budge, even though he was hungry too. Hannah had no choice but to do her homework while crying.
Meanwhile, Ashley came upstairs with a big bouquet. Her footsteps were light, almost like a spirit.
She passed by Hannah’s room and secretly peeked inside.
After observing for a while, she got bored and moved to another room to set down the flowers. She also took the opportunity to snoop in the other rooms.
The dining room downstairs was bustling with a lively atmosphere.
People felt suffocated when they saw the few dishes Blake brought in.
Only the poached chicken was fine, as it was the easiest to cook.
Old Mrs. Crawford was disgusted by the runny omelet when she scooped it.
“This… this is…”
“I’ve tasted it, and it’s delicious even though it doesn’t look good.”
“Urgh… And what’s this?” Old Mrs. Crawford picked up a large piece of gray-colored food.
“Eggplant,” Blake answered.
Old Mrs. Crawford decided not to dwell on the appearance, but…
“Why isn’t it cut?” she asked.
Blake felt strange, “I did cut it.”
I cut it evenly in two halves.
The Crawford family was speechless.
Anthony chuckled and picked up a piece, saying, “It’s pretty good.”
Everyone can have a piece, it’s fair. Hopefully, Blake can do a better job next time.
Edward stared at the eggplant and muttered, “We should let Liam taste this delicious eggplant too.”
Gilbert kept smiling, “It’s such a pity that the others who are absent missed out on this delicious eggplant. We should make it again for them next time.”
Blake nodded, “Alright.”
Lily gobbled up the omelet and gave a thumbs up, saying, “Delicious!”
Blake smiled. Daughters are the best!
Lilly picked up a piece of eggplant and put it into her mouth. The uncles said it tasted delicious, so it must be.
Everyone was shocked by her actions and said, “Lilly…”
Lilly spat it out the next second. Yuck! It’s so disgusting! Why did Uncle Anthony, Grandpa, and Grandma eat it so well?
“Sorry, Daddy. It’s too disgusting. I can’t pretend to like it.”
Is it really that hard to eat? Some of them are eating it just fine, aren’t they?
Blake picked up a piece and took a bite. He couldn’t help but choke on it.
After drinking some water, he quietly said, “It’s okay, I can’t pretend to like it either.”
The crowd laughed at him, and Old Mr. Crawford gradually felt at ease with Blake. No matter how much Blake scored, he would approve as long as Lilly liked him.
After finishing her task, Ashley secretly observed the Crawford mansion. It looked grand and luxurious, and the people inside were laughing happily.
A trace of resentment appeared in Ashley’s eyes unconsciously.
How can they live so well? This place is nothing compared to Ambrosia. Even the air in Ambrosia tastes sweet. How can they be happier than me?
Ashley couldn’t help but grip the cutter tightly in her hands.
When Blake suddenly turned around, Ashley was shocked and dropped the cutter.
The Crawford family turned around upon hearing the commotion.
Ashley quickly picked up the cutter and apologized, “Sorry, I accidentally dropped the cutter.”
She ran away after saying that.
Blake stared at her retreating figure and said, “There’s something off about this gardener.”
Old Mrs. Crawford frowned, feeling that Ashley’s words and actions were particularly strange that day.
She personally chose Ashley as their gardener because she had to take care of the mansion’s garden and was responsible for replacing flower bouquets and arrangements. Just like their housekeeper, who was responsible for cleaning several master rooms, she chose them because they were very trustworthy.
“Maybe she’s not feeling well or something happened to her family. I’ll ask her later.”
