your brother?”
Josh turned around, and the teacher wondered if she should move the person sitting beside him to another seat. However, Lilly pointed at the empty seat beside Cheryl and said, “Teacher, I want to sit beside Cheryl.”
The teacher responded, “Oh, right. The student beside Cheryl is absent today.”
Pablo couldn’t believe their luck.
Cheryl didn’t look happy because she didn’t want to sit beside Lilly. She still remembered how Lilly poured Waldorf salad on her during the camp. However, a female student sitting in front of Cheryl turned around and said, “Wow, Cheryl! Besides the Shaw family, you’re close to the Crawford family as well?”
There was no other reason for Cheryl to sit beside her.
Cheryl no longer felt unhappy. Her vanity had been satisfied. She smiled and replied, “Not really, I just went to a camp with Lilly previously.”
“Lilly, come here,” Cheryl pointed to the chair beside her.
Lilly hurried over to Cheryl’s side, carrying her schoolbag, and sat down.
Before Cheryl could approach Lilly, she saw her take a tortoise out of her bag and place it upside down on the table. Then, Lilly took out a parrot and stuffed it inside the drawer. Polly ran and hid inside.
Everyone in the class was dumbfounded, and Josh covered his face in embarrassment.
“Lilly, what is this?” asked the teacher.
Lilly replied, “Don’t worry, Teacher. The tortoise doesn’t speak, and Polly will be quiet as well. They’ll be lonely when I’m in the academy, so they want to follow me.”
The female teacher was baffled. She wondered how animals or even a child like Lilly knew what loneliness was.
However, the teacher simply smiled and said, “Lilly, this is a classroom. If the tortoise or the parrot disrupts the class, I’ll have to take them away. Is that okay?”
That morning, the academy’s board had an emergency meeting before class.
The Crawford family was the biggest sponsor of Animaux Private Academy. Before it gained fame, the academy needed a billion dollars to invest in academic buildings and hire reputable teachers. The Crawford family alone invested 800 million dollars in the academy. That’s why the headmaster immediately agreed when Anthony asked the academy to take care of his niece.
The teacher couldn’t do much when she saw the tortoise sitting there and the parrot being quiet inside the drawer. She had no choice but to start teaching.
Pablo floated to one side and stared at the malignant spirit above Cheryl’s head. The malignant spirit also looked at Pablo cautiously, unable to sense his intentions. She wondered what Pablo was.
Pablo introduced the malignant spirit to Tilly, saying, “This is a vanity spirit. Tulip, ask Cheryl to meet us in the forest. We’ll capture her. Tell her to meet you in the forest after school.”
Lilly nodded.
Lilly approached Cheryl and said seriously, “Don’t go after school. See you in the forest.”
Cheryl was shocked and asked, “What?”
After the first lesson, the teacher walked towards Lilly and was surprised to see how serious she was, as if she had come to study.
The teacher approached Lilly and asked, “Lilly, do you understand the question?”
She didn’t expect Lilly to understand, but she saw Lilly nod. “I understand. The shop brought in 50 baskets of fruit. It sold 12 baskets in the morning and 14 baskets in the afternoon. The number of baskets left is 24. A worker is repairing a stretch of a 100-meter road. He repaired 64 meters on the first day. With 6 days remaining, how many meters does he need to repair on average? The answer is 6 meters.”
The teacher was amazed. “Lilly, you’re amazing!”
Lilly was confused and asked, “Teacher, if the worker can fix 64 meters in a day, why does he only fix 6 meters every day? Can’t he fix them all in one day?”
The teacher was baffled. She couldn’t answer Lilly’s question. Then, the mathematics teacher entered and asked, “Does Lilly understand what the teacher is saying?”
Lilly nodded and said, “I do.” Lilly didn’t know why she was being asked such a question.
The teacher introduced Lilly to the visiting mathematics teacher, saying, “Lilly is amazing. She remembers everything that has been taught…” She would never admit that she was trying to ignore Lilly’s question. It was embarrassing that she couldn’t answer a four-year-old’s question.
The mathematics teacher was intrigued and asked, “Is that so? Let me ask you a question then…”
“A child had 50 lollipops, 70 marshmallows, and 100 gummies in his pocket. After eating 50 lollipops, 60 marshmallows, and 100 gummies, which candy does the child still have right now?”
Lilly shook her head and replied, “The child will have diabetes.”
Grandpa had told Lilly that Granny had diabetes because she ate too many sweets.
Both teachers were stunned before bursting into laughter because there was nothing wrong with Lilly’s answer.
Cheryl was displeased to see both teachers laughing at Lilly’s answer. She smiled and said, “Lilly, you’re mistaken. Both lollipops and gummies have been eaten. There are only 10 marshmallows left, not diabetes.”
Cheryl deliberately showcased her calculating skills, hoping to receive praise from the teachers. However, they only focused on Lilly and ignored Cheryl.
The overweight student next to her burst into laughter, “Haha! A child getting diabetes. That’s so funny!”
All the children joined in the laughter. They surrounded Lilly and urged her to speak because they found it amusing.
Cheryl felt awkward and embarrassed as she watched Lilly being adored by everyone while she was ignored.
The two teachers patted Lilly’s head before leaving the classroom.
All the students gathered around Lilly and looked at the tortoise on her desk.
“Lilly, why did you bring a tortoise? And why is it lying down like that?”
Lilly explained, “If I turn it over, the tortoise will run away.”
Someone else asked, “What about your little parrot?”
Lilly squatted down and looked inside her drawer. While gazing at Polly, she replied, “Polly is inside. It’s afraid of strangers.”
“When will it stop being afraid?”
“Does it eat bread?”
“I heard green parrots are intelligent.”
All the children squatted down and peeked inside the drawer to see the parrot. They were curious and excited.
Lilly instantly became the popular figure in the class. Cheryl, who was sitting beside her, was neglected. This made her furious. Previously, everyone enjoyed talking to her after class, but now they all surrounded Lilly instead.
Josh, sitting next to Cheryl, was also unhappy. Lilly was supposed to be an annoying sister. When he realized she didn’t seek him out after being surrounded, he became upset and slammed his book on the table.
Cheryl heard the noise and turned to approach Josh.
“Josh, everyone likes Lilly… She speaks in an interesting way. Unlike me, who is boring…”
Cheryl wanted Josh to say that he liked her more than Lilly. However, Josh immediately saw through her. “What? Stop pretending and being fake in front of me.”
Cheryl started tearing up. “Josh, how can you say that?”
Impatiently, Josh replied, “Go away!” He was different from his brother, Drake, who would at least be a little gentler.
During the camp, Cheryl had approached Drake, and he had still been polite to her. Josh thought that was unmanly.
Josh believed a real man should act like him…
He stared at Cheryl, who refused to leave, and said, “Are you going to leave? Otherwise, I’m going to hit you.”
Feeling aggrieved, Cheryl left. That was why she didn’t like approaching Josh. When she returned to her seat, she saw more people surrounding Lilly. They were all trying to play with her. The overweight student even took Cheryl’s seat.
Coincidentally, the bell for the next lesson rang. Cheryl walked over and said, “It’s time for class. Everyone, go back to your seats!”
Reluctantly, all the students returned to their seats. Lilly was very happy. Within 10 minutes of the class ending, she had already made so many friends.
The next lesson was Language Arts. Lilly couldn’t understand anything. Then, she felt someone kicking her chair. She turned around and saw a boy passing her a note.
Lilly unfolded the note and began reading it. “Lilly, have you eaten yet? Do you want to eat drumsticks with me later?”
Pablo leaned closer to see what was written on the paper.
