Chapter 648 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

The person standing before him was none other than Adie’s scumbag daddy.

Ugh… but it seemed like he wasn’t really a scumbag at all.

“Why aren’t you answering?” Halston studied Adie intently, then his features relaxed. “Oh, I know. You haven’t learned how to talk, have you?”

Rolling his eyes, Adie thought, ‘Well, there’s definitely something wrong with his brain. No wonder he needs surgery. I’m almost five years old, so how can he think that I still can’t talk?’

“You shouldn’t go around alone if you can’t talk, or else your parents will be worried…” Halston reached his hand out to Adie, and ordered softly, “It isn’t safe there. Come here.”

However, Adie glanced at Halston briefly and ignored him as he bent down and picked up the flowers on the ground.

“Ah, it seems you’re autistic too… You’re cute though.” Heaving a long sigh, Halston glanced at Adie compassionately. Although he was usually quite aloof, he had a soft spot for children and furry animals, and would instinctively want to get close to them.

Suddenly, Halston felt rather melancholic. Flossie had two children, but Halston had none even though he was almost in his thirties. That made him rather pitiful, didn’t it?

“Aren’t you scared?” Halston wanted to go but was worried about leaving Adie alone. He told Adie patiently, “Come with me. I’ll take you to your parents.”

Adie finally picked up all the flowers and tied them up into a bouquet again, sweating and panting. When he found that Halston was still there, he stared at him suspiciously and asked, “Have you really lost your memory?”

“So, you can talk?” Surprised, Halston smiled. “You’re a pretty interesting kid. I think you’re harder to handle than most adults.”

“I asked you a question. Have you really lost your memory?” Adie ignored Halston’s teasing and asked Halston urgently. He needed to know the answer.

“How did you know?” Raising his brows, Halston questioned Adie curiously.

“Because you don’t know me,” Adie replied naturally.

“Should I… know you?” Halston’s curiosity grew as he stared at the strange little boy.

“Yes, you should… but I won’t force you if you don’t want to.” Shrugging, Adie said indifferently, “After all, it’s the same whether you’re around or not; you’re just an ornament in our family.”

“Ahem!” Puzzled by Adie’s words, Halston said to him, “Tell me who your mother is. I don’t know you but maybe I know her.”

“Flossie!” Adie shot Halston a disdainful glare. “Don’t tell me you don’t know my mother either! Whether you lost your memory or not, you’d be a scumbag if you’ve forgotten someone so important to you!”

“Flossie?” Halston snorted and smiled sarcastically. “Well, of course I know her. She’s the reason why I’m staying here. Do you see the mark on my neck? She nearly strangled me to death.”

“Let me see!” Adie walked over to Halston and stood on tiptoe to inspect the purple bruises on his neck. After that, he nodded solemnly. “Mommy was pretty harsh but… you deserved it because you’ve betrayed her.”

’I betrayed her?” Halston asked in bewilderment, wondering how that statement made sense. “Adie!” A voice called out, and Adie turned around to see Justin waving at him. ’Coming!” Adie grinned when he saw Justin and ran towards him, leaving Halston standing there in confusion. “Didn’t your mommy tell you not to talk to bad guys? Stay far away from him.” Justin rested a hand on Adie’s head and glared at Halston. He had heard from Flossie that Halston had lost his memories of the twins too, so Halston had no idea that Adie was his son. Flossie had begged Justin to pretend to be Adie and Abby’s father to avoid trouble, so Justin purposely tried to sound like he was Adie’s father. As expected, Halston got the wrong idea, and his gaze turned cold as he scoffed, “I would have stayed away from him if I knew that he was Flossie’s son. It seems like he’s just as dangerous as his mother.” After that, Halston shoved his hands into his pockets and left the garden. He didn’t want to admit it, but an unexplainable anger burned inside him at the thought of Adie being Flossie and Justin’s son. He couldn’t understand it at all. Glancing at Halston’s back, Adie shook his head. “My mommy made the right decision in breaking up with him. He has mood swings, and his injured brain is making him so dumb. He wouldn’t be able to make my mommy happy at all.” The little boy’s maturity and seriousness amused Justin, and he burst out laughing. “Kid, you’re not even five, how would you know what mood swings are? You’re even better at choosing men than women are. No… you’re better at choosing men than your mommy.” ‘That’s for sure!” Adie continued proudly, “Daddy Liam is the only man who’s passed my test, so you need to work harder.”

“Huh? I need to work harder?” Justin didn’t expect this to circle back to him. Smiling, he asked, “What should I change to be worthy of your mommy?” “Firstly, you should be more sincere because you’re always so casual and carefree,” Adie said sharply as he pointed the bouquet at Justin.

“I’m not sincere enough? I poured my heart out for your mommy, isn’t that enough?” Justin queried, feeling somewhat affronted. “No, it’s not!” Shaking his head, Adie said firmly, “You said you love my mommy but you never really gave her anything, and I didn’t see your sincerity.” ‘About that…” Justin scratched his head awkwardly. “You might be right, but the problem is… I never had the chance to do it.” “No, you do!” Adie exclaimed seriously. ‘Can you give me an example, Master Adie?’ Justin asked Adie eagerly, wanting to know what he could do for Flossie. “It’s very simple. Do you know what my mommy needs the most right now? ’ Adie asked mysteriously. “What is it?” Justin asked hesitantly, feeling like he was walking into a trap set by an overly clever little boy.

Seeing how Justin was slowly entering his trap, Adie smiled mysteriously but kept Justin guessing. ‘You should know my mommy well since you like her so much. Why don’t you try to guess?”

“You want me to guess?” Rubbing his chin, Justin nodded contemplatively.’ I guess the thing your mommy needs the most is the sincerity of an excellent man like me. It’s the reason why I’ve appeared in her life, because I’m just the thing she needs.”

“Ugh!” Adie pretended to vomit and complained, “You’re so cheesy, Mr. Baldwin; no wonder my mommy doesn’t like you. You say you’re sincere but isn’t that just an empty promise? You should let your actions do the talking.”

“Haha! You’re so young. Do you even know what empty promises are?’

“Yes, I do. Empty promises are promises that are never kept while sincerity is the exact opposite.” Adie narrowed his eyes at Justin.” Do you want to make empty promises or let your actions speak for you?”

“Okay, stop beating around the bush. Just tell me what you want me to do.” Amused, Justin found himself completely under Adie’s control, and they had circled back to Justin making contributions again.

“Well… My mommy doesn’t need love… but she does need money, the money to revive the Ellsworth family. Isn’t your family very rich? Can’t you give my mommy some? I’m sure a few billion isn’t a lot for you,” Adie said bluntly, negotiating like a businessman. His idea was simple-he figured that his mother’s life would be simpler if she had more money, and then, she could spend more time with him and Abby.

“So, that’s what you want?” Justin chuckled and agreed to it without any hesitation. “Yes, you’re right. I’m the sole heir of my family, and I do have a lot of money. I can always give your mommy money if she needs it.”

“Really?” Adie’s eyes lit up, and he nodded approvingly. “Sir, you’re pretty reliable. I think it’ll be good if my mommy dates you. She can just make herself happier by buying things. Well, I’ve made up my mind to pick you as my new daddy because you’re so much better than my dumb scumbag daddy!”

“You said it! Oh, I’m going to record this.” Justin was over the moon because he had finally gained Adie’s approval. He immediately fished out his phone and recorded Adie’s words.

In his opinion, the first step to winning Flossie’s heart was to win over her two children. He felt that Abby would be easier to persuade since she mostly cared about looks, so as long as he dressed up handsomely, she would be on his side. The troublesome one was Adie because he and Halston were so alike in their deviousness and intelligence. Justin would always fall into Adie’s traps before he even knew what was happening, much like what had just happened. He had willingly promised to give up a few billion for nothing.

That was how smart Adie was.

Justin and Adie returned to the ward triumphantly, both feeling like they had gained something.

“Where did you go, Adie? I was worried about you.” Flossie let out a sigh of relief the moment she saw Adie.

“I picked your favorite flowers for you, Mommy, and I got you something really good!” Adie handed the bouquet to Flossie and declared proudly.

“Huh?” Flossie looked confused.

“Benefactor, please come in.” Adie beckoned Justin in with a finger and said seriously, “I’ve already discussed it with Mr.

Baldwin, Mommy.

He’ll give you money instead of making you empty promises from now on.

Just give him a figure, and you won’t have to work so hard anymore.” “what?” Flossie’s jaw dropped, and she stared at Adie in disbelief.

What had the little troublemaker done now? However, Justin walked to Flossie’s bed and nodded sincerely.

” Adie’s right—I’ve never really done anything for you.

Please let me do something for you now by giving you money, after all…

it’s pretty much the only thing I have.” Flossie massaged her aching temples and grumbled, “Stop being unreasonable.” “No, I’m being serious.

I want to give you money.” Justin wanted to show Flossie how deep his feelings for her were.

He would have banked the money directly into her account if he could.

Helpless, Flossie said to Justin, “Don’t take Adie’s nonsense seriously.

Plus, I have money, and even if I needed money, I wouldn’t take it from you for nothing.” “No, it’s not for nothing! I’m willing, and it’ll make me happy.

I’m paying for the emotional value of it, so it’s a great bargain.” Justin protested, trying to convince Flossie.

Flossie sighed in exasperation.

“Are you out of your mind, Justin? No one will give people money for nothing.” Before Justin could answer, Adie eagerly defended him.

“No, Mr.

Baldwin’s brain is working fine.

The one whose brain is ruined is my scumbag daddy.

He’s forgotten about you, Abby, and me, which is completely unforgivable!” Flossie’s expression became tense, and she immediately asked, ” How do you know he’s forgotten about us? Did you meet him?” “Yeah, I met him when I was picking flowers for you in the garden downstairs, and I even saw the woman who’s about to marry him.
