“Quinton…” Flossie saw Quinton lying motionless in bed, and felt her heart ache when she noticed the many tubes attached to his body and the thick bandages around his face.
“Although Quinton is still in a coma, there’s good news. His face recovery surgery is successful, and if he wakes up, he’ll be a whole new person,” Haze said enthusiastically.
Flossie shook her head, her eyes teary. “That doesn’t matter anymore… I just want him to wake up safely.”
After this incident, Flossie had realized that one’s appearance didn’t mean anything. Being beautiful or ugly made no difference, as long as they were healthy.
“Don’t be so pessimistic. If the doctors say that he’ll recover, then he will,” Haze comforted her. Others always flattered him given his identity and status, so it was rare to see him console others. Doing this much had already exhausted him, and if she continued mulling over it, he would become depressed.
Flossie took a deep breath and wiped away her tears before she forced a smile onto her face. “Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. I’m stronger than you think, so you don’t have to rack your brain to figure out how to console me. I know it doesn’t come naturally to you, so I’ll try to be more optimistic.”
“Well, I guess you found me out…” Haze scratched his head and chuckled awkwardly. “I’m not good at consoling people. I’m afraid I’ll say the wrong thing and make you mad eventually.”
“No, you did great, and I appreciate that… Thank you for caring so much about my brother. Doctor Cromwell is very skilled, and I’m sure Quinton will get better if he treats him.”
“Umm… As someone who is trying to court you, have I progressed any further in winning your heart?” Haze swallowed and waited anxiously for her answer.
“You can’t stay serious for too long, can you? How am I supposed to answer that?” Flossie frowned at him, looking perplexed.
“Don’t mind me, just answer honestly. I’m stronger than you think.” Haze looked at Flossie imploringly, desperate to know the answer.
Flossie knew that she could not fool him given how serious he was, so she thought about it for a long time. “Er… Three percent. Yeah, three percent.”
Haze’s eyes brightened. “Three percent? I thought you’d give me a negative score, but it looks like my hard work is finally paying off. I’ll get a hundred percent as long as I keep working hard, I don’t care how long it takes. Where there’s a will, there’s a way!”
“You… You’re so weird. It’s just three percent. Aren’t you mad? Why didn’t you say I was ungrateful?” Flossie didn’t want to give him hope, so she was about to say zero.
However, if she did that, he might not believe her, so she gave him a low number instead to make him give up.
Normal people would understand the implication when they heard that number, and might even feel humiliated, but Haze looked surprisingly smug. “Silly, three percent is very high for me. You used to beat me up every time I expressed my admiration for you in the past, but this time, you didn’t hit me, and even gave me a score of three percent. Flossie was speechless. She didn’t know what was so good about her that made him so obsessed with her. As expected of people who wrote codes-as long as they had their minds set on a type of software, they would keep on running it even if there were a lot of bugs. They were indeed crazy.
“Umm… Since I managed to get three percent, can I ask for a small reward?”
Flossie raised an eyebrow. “What kind of reward?” “I… I want to hug you. Just a simple hug. Although you’re strong on your own, I want you to know that there’s someone you can rely on too,” Haze explained sincerely.
Also, he wanted to see if she would hit him when he got close to her like last time, or if things would be different now.
“Okay.” Flossie nodded and spread her arms. ‘Come on then. Let me hug you.” She felt that Haze did deserve a hug given what he did for her. She had been quite violent towards him in the past, so maybe she could make up for it through this hug.
“Umm…” Haze frowned when he saw her extend her arms wide as if she was about to hug her son. “If you hug me like this, people may think that you’re going to provide for me instead… Can we change our posture?’

Flossie awkwardly let go of Haze, and was shocked to see Halston there.” Why… are you here?”
“Why can’t I be here?” Halston always sounded fierce and aloof. ’What’s wrong? Did I stop you from having an affair with another man?”
Halston could never say nice things.
When Flossie heard his words, she felt annoyed. “Mr. Guajardo, you’re from a noble family, so why would you say such vulgar things? I’m not having an affair.”
Flossie took a step towards him and sneered, full of ridicule.” Even if I did, it has nothing to do with you. What right do you have to criticize me?”
“What right do I have?” Halston said lightly, “I’m your cousin-in- law, if you think about it. I saw my cousin-in-law hugging another man, so don’t I have the right to criticize you?
“Cousin-in-law?” Flossie’s lips twitched. How could he be so shameless and arrogant?
“Is there a problem?” Halston raised his brows and asked snidely. “Aren’t you madly in love with my missing cousin? He onlyjust went missing, but you’re already getting into a passionate relationship with another man. Shouldn’t you give me an explanation?”
“How ridiculous! Halston, shouldn’t you explain yourself given how you took liberties with me, your so- called cousin-in-law? ” Flossie felt that he was a hypocritical person with double standards. Besides, she hadn’t done anything wrong, and he had taken advantage of her countless times.
“What should I explain?” Halston did not want to say much, so he grabbed her hand and pulled her to him. “Come with me, and I’ll explain it to you.”
After that, he pulled Flossie away.
“What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?” Flossie refused to go with him, so she tried to break free from his grasp.
Halston never submitted to others’ wishes, but he surprisingly agreed to hers, and it caught her off guard. “You must explain yourself after I do. Fair and square.” Halston ignored her protests and insisted on pulling her away.
“Let go of her!” Haze had been watching everything unfold, and couldn’t stand aside and do nothing now. If he did, he would lose his future wife. He blocked Halston’s path. “Can’t you see that she doesn’t want to go with you? It’s illegal to disobey a woman’s wishes, and I can call the police to arrest you.”
Halston stopped and stared at Haze coldly. “Go ahead. If you’re not going to do it, get out of my way. This is Beach City where my family rules, and it’s no place for your Baldwin family to behave recklessly.”

Haze’s gaze was resentful and provoking. “Did you forget that the Guajardo family suffered a terrible loss these past two years, which your family only managed to resolve by having an alliance marriage with the Murphy family? Now you’re facing so many enemies, and yet you still claim that Beach City is ruled by the Guajardo family.”
