“Yes, people might be consigned to eternal damnation with only one mistake,” Jason murmured when he suddenly turned around and hugged Grace hard.

He held her so hard it was as if he wanted to embed her into his arms.

Grace was caught off guard and felt that his hug was much tighter than usual. “What’s wrong? Why are you holding me so tightly all of a sudden?”

Jason muttered, “Because I think I’m really lucky. I’m glad you were willing to forgive me and even… continue to love me.”

Grace froze. Then, she understood that he was reacting this way because Martin Weiss had reminded him of their past.

“That’s because you deserve my love.” Grace’s hands gently hugged Jason back.

His body quivered a little. He gently used his face to rub her neck as if he had an endless longing for her.

She was quite used to his occasional bursts of affection. It was as if a huge puppy was asking for a hug. “Alright, stop overthinking. Martin Weiss and Kyla have their own future, while we’re only going be together in the future.”

As she spoke, Grace reached over her shoulder and stroked his head with her fingers as if she was comforting him.

“We’ll never be apart again,” said Jason as he suddenly straightened up and carried Grace in his arms.

“Huh?” She was shocked, but he was already carrying her toward the stairs.

“Martin Weiss is still passed out on the couch.” Grace reminded him.

“Someone will take him to the guest room to rest,” said Jason, his beautiful peach blossom eyes full of deep desires and longing.

Grace instantly blushed. Even her neck that was exposed outside her pajamas seemed tinged with pink.

“Jay… Well, it’s late. Why don’t… we… uh… go to bed right away?”

“What’s the matter? You don’t want it?” Jason carried Grace back to their room and gently placed her on the large bed.

“Not… Not really.” Grace blushed even more as his long fingers. were already unbuttoning her clothes.

His eyes kept staring at her as if he wanted to engulf her.

‘Does he not know how enticing he is right now?’

“It’s… It’s late now. I’m afraid I won’t be able to get up tomorrow morning. I have to take Mick and the rest to kindergarten at seven o’clock,” Grace said reluctantly as she resisted the temptation.

“I’ll have someone else take them,” he said. He had already taken off his shirt, and the look in his eyes was all the more captivating.

Grace could not help gulping. “But… But I…”

“Are you sure you don’t want it?” He bent over, and his beautiful face magnified in front of her while his warm breath sprinkled onto her face.

Just like everyone, she could not control herself in front of a beauty. She eventually surrendered to his good looks.

It seemed that she could not resist him…

Grace put her hands around Jason’s neck and kissed his lips to show that she wanted it.

When Martin Weiss woke up the next day, Grace said to him, “I don’t care what will happen to you and Kyla in the future, but I won’t spare you if you hurt Kyla.”

Martin Weiss looked at her indifferently. “If that ever happens one day, you won’t have to do anything. I won’t spare myself either.”

She was silent.

Martin Weiss turned to leave but suddenly stopped.

He asked, “Grace, why do you want to be with Jason?”

“What?” She paused.

“Jason was involved in your imprisonment, so why did you choose to be with him?” asked Martin Weiss.

Not many people knew Jason had looked on coolly back then, but Martin Weiss had looked into the matter after Grace fell into the sea. He accidentally found out about it.

Grace stared at Martin Weiss. After a moment, she said, “Because I know no one in the world loves me more than him. If I lose him, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life!”

Martin Weiss smiled sadly. “I see.”

‘Maybe… Kyla never believed that I’m the one who loves her the most.’

It was because he had hurt her deeply in the past. Even all the promises he made back when they were dating had become lies in her mind. It was why Kyla could no longer trust him!

A few days later, Martin Weiss and Kyla went to the Family Planning Commission to get the birth permission certificate.

The staff gave Kyla a form, and she filled out the information as required. Then, she and Martin Weiss handed their marriage license, ID, and household registration book to the staff.

Once that was done, they sat on chairs and waited.

Martin Weiss looked at the silent Kyla and said, “I’ve explained the details of our marriage to my mother. She won’t bother you again. If she has said something that upset you, please don’t take it personally.”

“Your mother didn’t say anything that upset me. Now that she knows everything… That’s great,” said Kyla.

“Really…” Martin Weiss was a little sad. She had always spoken to him in such a flat tone. It was as if he meant nothing to her.

Thinking of his conversation with Grace the next morning after getting drunk at the Reed family’s house, he suddenly asked, “Kyla, how much do you trust me now?”

Kyla froze and looked at Martin Weiss with a puzzled face.

“I just want to know… whether you’re willing to trust me again? Will you believe every word I say?”

“Does it matter whether I trust you or not?” Kyla asked flatly.

“Yes,” he said with great certainty.

Kyla said, “Okay then. I trust you. I trust that you’ll do as you promised. Just like how we got a marriage license after you agreed to marry me. You also agreed to divorce me in the future, so I reckon you’ll keep your word then as well.”

Martin Weiss’s heart that had just felt joy sank again.

One moment, he was happy that she said she trusted him. However, he felt as if he had been sent to hell the next moment.

“Do you believe I love you, then?” Martin Weiss asked with trembling lips.

Kyla looked at him with some shock. It was as if she was wondering why he had suddenly brought this up again.

Just then, the staff member handling their birth permission certificate called Kyla to collect the certificate.

Kyla hurriedly got up and took the birth permission certificate. She said to Martin Weiss, “Alright, let’s go.”

She had only taken two steps when he suddenly grasped her arm. “You haven’t answered my question.”

Kyla sighed, turned to look at him, and said, “Martin Weiss, I believe that you think you love me and that some of the things you say to me are true. But… do you really think you love me? Or is it just guilt and regret? You don’t love me that much at all. When we first met each other, wasn’t everything just an act? You pretended to love me, and I believed that. Perhaps people would sometimes pretend for so long that they would even start believing it’s real.”
