Just then, another car came suddenly. Martin Weiss rushed out of it. As soon as he saw his mother grabbing Kyla, he immediately came forward and asked, “Mom, what are you doing here? What have you said to Kyla?”

With that said, he looked nervously at Kyla .”Whatever my mother says, don’t take it to heart.” He seemed afraid that his mother had said something to upset her.

Mrs. Weiss’s face darkened. “Don’t worry. I didn’t say anything upsetting to Kyla.”

Martin Weiss was skeptical, but Kyla said, “It’s true. Your mother didn’t say anything.”

Martin Weiss seemed relieved. “Mom, what are you doing here…”

“I’m only here to visit my daughter-in-law. You didn’t tell us that you’ve gotten married. Kyla’s pregnant right now, so it’s inconvenient for her to have a wedding ceremony. Once the baby is born and Kyla has recovered, we’ll—”

However, Kyla interrupted Mrs. Weiss before she could finish. “There won’t be a wedding.”

Mrs. Weiss froze. Then, she smiled. “You’re the Weiss family’s rightful daughter-in-law. Of course, you’ll have a wedding. The Weiss family will organize a grand wedding. You’ll have everything you deserve.”

Kyla knew that Mrs. Weiss had misunderstood. “Martin Weiss and I are only married temporarily for the sake of our unborn child. We’ll get divorced when they’re one year old, so there’s no need for a wedding.”

She had no intention of hiding it from Mrs. Weiss that the marriage was meant to be a matter of expediency.

Mrs. Weiss was shocked as she looked at Kyla in disbelief. Then, she looked at Martin Weiss. Finally, she turned around and got into the car without saying anything.

Martin Weiss looked at Kyla and said, “I’m sorry. I’ll explain to my mother.” With that said, he drove away in his car.

Watching the cars leaving one after another, Kyla bit her lip. Mrs. Weiss’s attitude today had surprised her.

She thought Mrs. Weiss hated her because her father had a hand in the Weiss family’s downfall.

However… perhaps it was just as what Mrs. Weiss had said. The feud between the Corbyn family and the Weiss family had long been incalculable.

Martin Weiss’s mansion.

Mrs. Weiss looked at her son. “How dare you enter a sham marriage with Kyla?”

“It’s not a sham. We’ve gone to tMason Swansonvil Affairs Bureau to get a proper marriage license,” said Martin Weiss.

Mrs. Weiss glared at her son. “You’re going to divorce when the child turns one year old. That means you’re getting divorced in less than two years. Isn’t that a sham marriage?”

Martin Weiss said, “Not to me! This marriage is true to me, Mom. I have a marriage license with her. I’m lawfully her husband. On our children’s birth permission certificates and birth certificates, we’re husband and wife. Besides, I’m the father of her children!”

Mrs. Weiss looked shocked. “Have you… Have you lost your mind?”

Martin Weiss smiled wrily. “Mom, don’t you know I’ve long ago lost my mind? I lost my mind back when I found out that the one who donated their bone marrow and saved me selflessly was Kyla, while Paisley Daniels deliberately framed Kyla but I became her accomplice and pushed her into prison!”

It had been so many years since he lost his mind that he had gone hysterical!

Tears welled up in Mrs. Weiss’s eyes. “Ill-fated. This is ill-fated! How did this happen? Why… Why do you… insist on having her?”

“Yes, why must I insist on having her?” Even he could not figure out the answer.

Maybe this was what happened when you loved someone.

You would just fall in deeper and deeper. If that person did not love you, it felt like the end of the world.

Martin Weiss came to the Reed family’s house at night.

Grace looked surprised when she heard what the butler informed her. “Martin Weiss is here?”

“Yes, he said he wants to meet Young master Reed. Besides, he seems to have had some drinks. He reeks of alcohol,” the butler said.

Jason pondered for a moment and said, “Let him in.” Then, he showed up in front of Grace. “I’m going to see what’s up with him for coming over so late.”

“Okay.” Grace nodded. After all, she was curious about Martin Weiss’s sudden arrival.

Could something have happened between him and Kyla again?

Martin Weiss walked into the Reed family’s living room with a bottle of wine. Watching Jason walk down the stairs, Martin Weiss raised the bottle of wine in his hand and said, “How about having a drink with me?”

Jason raised his eyebrows slightly. “Did you come here for a drink?”

“Yeah, I came here for a drink. I can’t even find someone to drink with in Emerald City. Come to think of it, I’m more familiar with you.” Martin Weiss had come across Jason before when Kyla was hospitalized. It was also because of her that they met again several times after Grace returned to the Reed family.

“Don’t you still have your men? Ask them to have a drink with you. They’ll be happy to do it,” said Jason.

“That’s different.” Martin Weiss smiled sadly and said, “They can follow my orders, but they might not be able to really listen. Besides, it’s inappropriate to confide in them these trivial matters.”

“So you came tonight to confide in me?” asked Jason.

“Yeah, what do you think? Do you want some?” Martin Weiss raised the bottle of wine again, Jason smirked. “Okay, I’ll drink with you.” Therefore, he ordered the maid to bring the wine glasses and began drinking with Martin Weiss.

“Speaking of which, I made Kyla suffer so much for Paisley Daniels. You warned me back then, saying I would regret it someday. I scoffed at the time, but now it’s like a hard slap in the face,” said Martin Weiss. Then, he threw his head back as he took a swig of wine.

“Did things not go well between you and Kyla?” asked Jason.

“We’ve registered and received our marriage license. The baby will be born in 8 months. It’s going well, isn’t it?

But… she still won’t love me. Tell me… What’s it gonna take to get her to take me back? Why is it so hard…” he murmured.

Jason looked at Martin Weiss quietly. He once thought that the man was similar to him.

Martin Weiss had put Kyla in prison while he had coldly watched Grace get imprisoned. Besides, Grace had also suffered a lot in prison because of him.

However, he was luckier than Martin Weiss. He was less ruthless than Martin Weiss, and Grace had forgiven him.

However, Martin Weiss was much too ruthless to Kyla back then!

“Regardless, you’re married to Kyla now. Since you’re married, you don’t have to be so  desperate,” said Jason.

“Yeah… We’re married… Married…” mumbled Martin Weiss as he took another swig of wine.

He drank one glass after another, while Jason had only taken one or two sips. Finally, Martin Weiss passed out on the couch. However, even though he was drunk, he was still shouting out Kyla’s name.

Grace only saw the drunk Martin Weiss when she walked to the living room.

“What did he want with you?” asked Grace.

“To vent his grievances, I guess. He and Kyla had already received a marriage license, but he probably felt more miserable because of this.” Jason looked grimly at Martin Weiss.

Grace also said emotionally, “He and Kyla could have been a happy couple. If he hadn’t forced Kyla to kneel to Paisley Daniels, perhaps he and Kyla might not be where they are today. Perhaps… they might’ve been able to get back together when he reversed Kyla’s case.”
