Just then, Kyla’s expression suddenly changed. She instantly stood up, covered her mouth, and ran toward the hospital’s washroom.

“Blaargh… Blaargh…” She threw up at the sink for quite some time before she finally stopped.

Kyla gargled her mouth and looked at her pale face in the mirror. ‘What’s wrong with me? I’ve thrown up twice in a row today.’

When she came out of the washroom and returned to the ultrasound waiting area, she saw Grace looking at her anxiously.

“Kyla, what was that just now? Are you okay?” asked Grace.

Kyla said, “It’s probably just my stomach. I just threw up and am feeling better now. Maybe it was something I ate that’s upsetting my stomach. I’ll just take two pills for my stomach later.”

Grace hesitated a little before asking with hesitation, “Kyla, did something… happen between you and Martin Weiss recently?”

When she went to the store to visit Kyla and Nelson, Mrs. Corbyn had mentioned Martin Weiss visiting Kyla.

Kyla’s expression instantly changed when she heard that. Then, the color in her face suddenly disappeared as if she had recalled something.

Grace could not help sighing to herself when she saw Kyla’s reaction. It seemed that something did happen between Kyla and Martin Weiss.

Besides, Kyla must have paled because she had also thought of that possibility.

“Kyla, we’re in the hospital right now. Why don’t you… take a blood test?” Grace said euphemistically.

“No thanks.” Kyla shook her head in a fluster. She stumbled a little as if she could not stand on her feet. “Grace, I suddenly feel a little sick. I… I’m gonna go home first. I’m sorry that you have to look after Lina alone. Let… Let me know if you need anything.”

Kyla said and almost fled the hospital in a panic.

Grace looked at Kyla’s back and understood what she was afraid Kyla had been trying to distance herself from Martin Weiss, but if Kyla were pregnant with Martin Weiss’s child just as she expected, then… their relationship would probably have to be more chaotic!

Even though Grace wanted to help Kyla, she did not know what to do all of a sudden.

Just then, Lina walked out of the ultrasound room. When she did Grace said, “She’s not feeling well and has gone home first. What about you? How are you?”

“I’m fine. Everything is normal, but the doctor still told me to pay attention to the baby’s kicking. I have to come to the hospital immediately if the baby is suddenly kicking unusually again,” said Lina.

“Then you have to be careful. Why don’t I send you home?” said Grace.

“Sure,” Lina answered. After a while, she said, “Oh, I wonder what’s wrong with Kyla. She didn’t seem well this noon.”

Grace could not make any comment. After all, it was only her speculation, and Kyla had not done any tests either.

Grace told Jason about Kyla’s possible pregnancy in the evening.

“If Kyla is indeed pregnant, what do you think will happen to her relationship with Martin Weiss?” asked Grace.

Jason smiled faintly. “I can’t say for sure. But judging from Kyla’s previous attitude toward Martin Weiss, I’m afraid she won’t get together with Martin Weiss just because of a child.”

If it were true that they could get together because of a child, Kyla would have gotten together with Martin Weiss because of Nelson.

“But if Kyla really doesn’t want to be with Martin Weiss and she’s indeed pregnant, will Martin Weiss want everything to go on as usual? Or… will he do anything to get Kyla?” Grace said worriedly.

“It makes sense if Martin Weiss does anything. If it were me, I would too,” Jason said nonchalantly.

Grace froze and looked at Jason. “You would too?”

“Yes, I would.” He looked straight at her.

She suddenly recalled what had happened. “When… I was pregnant… If I had refused to marry you, would you…

have done anything to force me to marry you?”

Jason’s eyes glimmered slightly as he gently took Grace’s hand and said, “Would you hate me if I said yes?” Perhaps he could follow her thinking and tell a lie that would please her.

However, he did not want to do so. He had promised to be honest with her and would no longer hide things from her.

Grace looked blankly at Jason. Although she did not like people ‘doing something’ to her to get what they wanted, there was no way she could hate it when that person was Jay.

She shook her head and could not help asking, “What would you do?”

“What’s the matter? Do you want to guess what Martin Weiss would do from my answer?” asked Jason.

“…” Grace said nothing as if she was saying yes tacitly.

“If it were me, I would grab your weakest point. I’d just hold on to anything you can’t afford to lose and the things you value the most,” said Jason.

His elegant voice sounded like a violin, but it made Grace tremble.

What he said was lethal, just like his usual style. It was why many would warn others not to mess with Jason in Emerald City, or you would not even know how you died.

“If you still refused, then… maybe I’d keep you with me for the rest of my life, or…” He paused as his gorgeous peach blossom eyes looked at her gently. “I’d let you leave and drive myself insane.”

If it were in the past, he would have chosen to lock her up and keep her with him forever with no hesitation.

However, when you love someone so deeply, you would feel unbearably miserable when they were miserable.

Grace’s heart ached. Although it was just a hypothetical situation, she thought it was cruel to make him answer it upon hearing him say this.

“You won’t drive yourself insane, and I won’t leave you!” She flung her arms open and embraced him hard.

Jason looked down at the person hugging him, and a smile appeared on his lips. He slowly leaned over and rested his head on her shoulder. “You won’t leave me, and I won’t leave you.”

Grace hugged him for quite a long time before calming down. Then, she laughed at herself. “Hey, what’s wrong with us? We were just talking about Kyla and Martin Weiss, but…”

She paused. “Is Martin Weiss really going to do that to Kyla?”

“Maybe.” It was all Jason could say.

After all, he was not Martin Weiss, and his assumption might not be 100% accurate. Besides, the human heart was fickle. Anything could change.

“Then…” Grace hesitated as if she was wondering what to say.

“What’s the matter? Do you want me to help you? Do you want to protect Kyla if Martin Weiss is going to force Kyla?” Jason seemed to have read her mind.

“Yeah.” She nodded. “But this will cause conflicts between the Reed family and the Weiss family, which might impact the Reed family’s business.”

After all, Martin Weiss was influential in the market. If the Weiss family did declare war on the Reed family, it was hard to say how much the Reed family’s businesses would be affected and how much they would lose.

‘But… Kyla!’ Grace pitied Kyla.

Besides, everyone had concerns about her ex-convict identity when she was looking for a job back then. Only Kyla was willing to give her a chance and treat her with kindness.

Kyla was kind to her, and she wanted to protect Kyla as best she could.

“So what?” Jason smiled casually. “If you want to protect Kyla, then I’ll do it for you.”

He spoke so nonchalantly as if it was an easy thing to do.
