Filed To Story: The Alpha's Betrayal and Promise Novel
(Scarlett)
“I can assume that you found something to keep yourself busy at.” Alpha Vladimir said, raising an eyebrow at me as he saw me in the living room with the women of the pack. Anastasia was asleep in her crib, and I figured that leaving the room was more appropriate now that I knew that I was somewhat welcome within the pack. The man’s eyes studied my expression as I frowned, and I shook my head in question, wanting to know what he was on about.
The Alpha looked at the women of the pack, and taking the silent hint, they got up and walked out. I knew that Alexander left a few hours ago to tend to a few things, and I also knew to stay out of trouble in case Vladimir tried starting any; however, I had to admit, to see that he was here in front of me came as a shock for me. Especially since I didn’t expect him to even approach me.
“Or has your mate finally allowed you to leave the room without his supervision?”
“You can choose another topic to mess around with, Alpha.” I said, giving him a sarcastic smile. “This is not my pack, and I choose to know my limits when I am in foreign grounds. You should know that more than anyone considering that pack members would either be entering or leaving the packs when they have found potential mates.”
“You seem to think that you know enough about Alphas for an omega, but then again, I should expect that considering the fact that you grew up under the Alpha’s roof, shouldn’t I?” He asked, making my c*hest ache. The fact that he was reminding me of something that I was trying to forget was something that hurt me more than I could think of letting out. The man was throwing it in my face that I was an orphan, and that was something that I couldn’t help but find disrespectful.
“If there is nothing that you have to add or mention, I would like to go and check on my daughter.”
“You can, but I am not done with this conversation.”
“I am,” I said, glaring daggers at him and he chuckled. I knew that it wasn’t going to be that simple. I wasn’t stupid or naive, but I knew to fight him as long as I could. The man was the type who seemed to like getting into arguments to f*orce others to submit. But I wasn’t part of his pack, and for that, the ONE person that I had to submit to was my husband, anyone else didn’t matter to me, and most certainly not a man like Vladimir. “Therefore, I suggest that you find yourself something else to mess with. Because I am certainly not in the mood for it.”
“The funny part about this is that I didn’t ask for how you felt or whether or not you liked it. I am talking to you, and you are to listen to me,” he said, and I laughed, shaking my head before crossing my arms over my c*hest. I took a step toward him, taking him off guard by my action before shaking my head in question.
“And if I choose to just walk past you? What are you going to do? Are you going to kill me? My mate? Or are you going to start wondering how you are to break me?” I asked, shaking my head at him. I waited for his response, and I knew that he could easily kill me. But I wasn’t going to let him think that I was going to allow him to do so. I wasn’t going to go down without a fight, and that was something that I was determined to prove to him. I walked past him, making sure to avoid t*ouching him as I did. And to my surprise, he moved aside, allowing me to. It was simply as if he wanted to see what I would do or how I would respond. And if I didn’t know any better, the man either seemed to be impressed, or shocked. Either way, he wasn’t upset or annoyed.
“You are playing a dangerous game, Scarlett.” He said, his tone calmer than it had been. I looked at him over my shoulder, and I couldn’t help but flinch when I noticed that he was a step closer to me. His hot breath hit my face, taking me off guard, and I couldn’t help but frown when he said his next words. “But I am liking every second of it. To say the least, I like a strong woman, and that is what you are.”
The man walked past me without saying a word or waiting for me to respond. My heart raced, and I couldn’t help but feel like it was going to drop to my stomach. The Alpha seemed completely unaffected, but that wasn’t the case with me. If anything, I knew that what he said could cause a war between him and Alexander.
And that was not something that I wanted. I wasn’t dumb, and I was NOT going to allow him to cross such a limit with me when I knew the consequences of it. The man was playing with fire, and it was one that I didn’t want to toy around with. MY husband and mate was not someone that I wanted to toy with, and therefore, I was going to draw the line long before it was formed.
I walked out, following him before letting out a low growl that had him and the others who were in the hall stop talking. He turned to face me and raised an eyebrow, clearly amused by my reaction.
I didn’t mind him being amused or impressed. I knew that what I was going to do next was not only going to catch his attention, but it would be something that he would be remembering for a long time. “Yes, malyshka?” He asked, his tone sarcastic. I didn’t respond, and instead, I walked toward him and slapped him, taking him off guard. Those who were around us gasped, and he frowned as he looked to his right, avoiding my eyes.
“If you think that I am going to cheat on my husband’s trust, love, and respect for a man like you, then you are very wrong, Vladimir.” I said, glaring daggers at him. “Therefore, if you f*ucking think that you can cross any limits with me, then I am going to make sure that I draw the line here and now.”
“And who the f*ucking hell do you think you are to try and do so?” He asked. I was about to respond only to frown when a low growl filled the air around us, stopping the two of us from talking.
“My wife, Vladimir.” I heard Alexander’s raging tone from behind Vladimir. Vladimir turned to face him, and I looked at my husband who shook his head at me, clearly this was not what he meant when he told me to stay out of trouble today. “Scarlett, is my f*ucking wife, that is who she is…”
