“Oh, I was just saying,” said Mrs. Corbyn.

Two days later, Chase Harper rode Kyla’s tricycle back. He happened to meet Nelson Corbyn as he got off school.

Chase Harper mentioned that his daughter would always mention Brother Nelson these days. Therefore, Mrs.

Corbyn took the opportunity to propose that her daughter, Nelson, Chase Harper, and his daughter go to the amusement park together to play and relax.

“I’ll take care of the store. Business is slow on weekends anyway,” said Mrs. Corbyn.

Their customers were mainly students, so they were free during weekends as business was slow.

“If Kyla and Nelson are okay with it, I’ll take Juliet to the amusement park this weekend. Speaking of which, I haven’t taken her to the amusement park in a long time,” said Chase Harper.

Kyla smiled. “Okay, Nelson hasn’t gone there in a long time either.”

Sure enough, after she said yes, she saw a look of expectation on her son’s face. It seemed he was happy.

At the end of the week, Chase Harper drove to the store with his daughter to pick up Kyla. The two children sat in the back, while Kyla sat in the front passenger seat.

On the way, Nelson took care of Juliet Harper like a little adult. Juliet Harper sat in a child safety seat and kept talking to Nelson like a little chatterbox. For example, she talked about what cartoons she had been watching lately, what she had drawn, and how long before she could start going to kindergarten.

“Is kindergarten fun, Nelson?” the little one asked.

Nelson Corbyn’s eyes darkened. He did not have a good impression of kindergarten. His mother’s case had yet to be reversed at the time, so children and their parents would taunt him.

He was young and did not understand many things back then, but now he understood more about grown–ups and the injustice of society.

Even if his mother had reversed the case, his disability would make him suffer from countless strange gazes.

Even if he was better than many ordinary people, it was useless. He was still deaf to everyone else!

“Nelson?” Juliet asked again.

Nelson Corbyn smiled and replied, “Kindergarten is fun. There are lots of games to play with the kids.”

“Can I go to the same kindergarten as Nelson?” the little one asked.

“I’m already in primary school. You can only enter primary school after you graduate from kindergarten.” Nelson Corbyn began to tell the little one what kindergarten and elementary school were.

When the car arrived at the amusement park, the four of them entered the amusement park after Chase Harper parked the car.

Nelson Corbyn held Juliet’s hand and took care of her like a big brother, prompting Chase Harper to say, “Nelson has really grown up.”

Kyla took many photos of her son, and she could see that he was having fun playing with Juliet. Juliet could not play some games due to her height, so Nelson Corbyn did not play them either. He would only play those Juliet could play.

In one part of the amusement park was an indoor play area where parents could not enter but only children. Juliet wanted to go inside to play, so Kyla urged her son to look after Juliet while she and Chase Harper watched the two children play on the platform outside the play area.

“Thank you for coming to the amusement park with Juliet and me today. Juliet is so happy today. She hasn’t been this happy since her mother and I got divorced,” said Chase Harper, Kyla hesitated a little before saying, “If there’s any misunderstanding in your marriage, why don’t…”

“There’s no misunderstanding, I walked in on her sleeping with my best friend. I asked her and she said she wanted to be with my friend. Life with me wasn’t what she wanted, and she didn’t even want our daughter anymore,”

Chase Harper said bitterly.

He had buried these things in his heart. Even after the divorce, he only told outsiders that they had irreconcilable differences. He even kept the truth from his own parents, hoping to preserve some decency for his daughter.

He did not want this to overshadow his daughter’s future.

However, he told Kyla what he had been keeping in his heart. Perhaps he was too miserable, so he would like to talk to someone about it.

Kyla paused a little before saying, “Best friend? Is it your business partner…”

“Yeah, so I left and opened my own shop because I couldn’t face them anymore,” said Chase Harper.

“That man was never your friend. Real friends don’t do things like that. Look at it from a different angle. At least you got to see his true colors.” Kyla consoled him.

“Yes, at least I saw his true colors,” Chase Harper said in a mutter and then asked Kyla, “What about you? How are things between you and Nelson’s father all these years? Why is he letting you run a little store like this?”

He knew that Nelson’s father was Martin Weiss. The head of Weiss Group was wealthy, and he even knew that Martin Weiss had donated his liver to her.

He thought Kyla would lead a rich life with Martin Weiss, but now it seemed that she was making a living off running the store.

“I’m me, and he’s him. I make my living running the store, and I’m happy with it,” Kyla said indifferently.

“I’m sorry. I’m just a little curious and don’t mean anything. I…” Chase Harper said quickly.

Kyla said, “It’s nothing. Nelson’s father and I have nothing in common. Maybe it’s best if we never see each other again for the rest of our lives.”

Just then, there was suddenly a commotion in the play area. Several boys younger than Nelson surrounded Nelson and Juliet, shouting, “Wow, he’s deaf. He’s deaf! I know that thing is called a hearing aid. Only deaf people wear it!”

“Wow, is this girl deaf too? Where’s her hearing aid? Where is it?”

A little boy tried to find the hearing aid by Juliet’s ear as he spoke.

Nelson Corbyn grabbed his hands. “Leave her alone!”

“Can deaf people talk? Oh yes. You can’t speak once you lose your hearing aid!” With that said, several other little boys also crowded around Nelson, mischievously trying to take off his hearing aid!

Juliet was so mad she started crying. She even tried to help Nelson push away the boys with her small fists as she cried.

However, she was too small. She was pushed down by those little boys in the blink of an eye.

Nelson’s expression changed as he got into a fight with the kids. Juliet cried as she got up and joined the fight again, ignoring her small size.

The staff in the play area rushed over to pull the children apart. Kyla and Chase Harper also rushed into the play area right away.

Nelson picked up Juliet, who fell to the ground. The little one wrapped her hands around Nelson’s neck. Even if Chase Harper wanted to hold her, the little one refused.

Kyla watched nervously to see if the two children were alright. Fortunately, the children were younger and weaker than Nelson. Nelson was unhurt, while Juliet was also safe even though she had fallen several times because the play area was full of cushions.

The children were the ones who caused trouble, so they said nothing. Several parents also hurriedly left with their children.

Coming out of the play area, Juliet sobbed as she said, “Why did they call Nelson deaf?”

“Unlike normal people, I can’t hear without the hearing aid, so I’m deaf,” Nelson said indifferently. His indifference pricked Kyla’s heart.

It was as if her son had been hurt by the discrimination against the disabled that he had resigned to calling himself deaf.

“Then I’ll be deaf too, so I’ll be the same as Nelson!” the little one said. Her dark eyes were still full of tears, and her face was streaked with wet tears. Even so, she spoke so seriously.

Nelson Corbyn’s heart suddenly throbbed as if something had touched his heart.

The little one was only three years old and had no idea what it meant not to hear!

If he took the hearing aid off, the whole world would be silent and the silence was scary!

It was as if he was the only person left in the world!
