She bent over and kissed the corners of his eyes. Then, she went down the bridge of his nose and eventually reached his lips. Her fingers undid his robe little by little…

After she calmed him down, she said, “You know that I love you the most, yet you’re still jealous. I just feel sorry for the state of Chase Harper’s marriage. He’s such a nice man but has an unhappy marriage. He’s now divorced from his wife with a three–year–old girl.”

Grace said and kissed Jason on the check. “You’re always jealous that it makes me feel as if I don’t express my love to you enough that you feel insecure.”

He stared at her. Even now, he would sometimes feel insecure because he loved her so much.

He knew she would risk her life for him but still did not want her to care about other men. He domineeringly wanted all of her.

“Do you think it’s too exhausting to be with me?” he asked in a mutter, afraid his love would suffocate her!

He was afraid he wanted too much, and she would be overwhelmed.

“I just think I have to love you more,” Grace said with a smile and kissed Jason’s lips again.

How could she not love this man?

Kyla suddenly shuddered and looked around. She realized she had been overthinking and no one was staring at her.

‘What’s wrong with me? It feels as if someone’s watching me from a distance.

‘Martin Weiss has already left Emerald City and returned to the Weiss family’s house. There’s no way he’d keep looking at me from afar in silence. Besides, this feeling isn’t the same as the feeling of Martin Weiss watching me in secret.

‘I must just be nervous,‘ she thought to herself. Perhaps Nelson’s bullying incident at school had put her on edge.

“Mom, I’ll go restock. You look after the store,” said Kyla.

“Okay,” replied Mrs. Corbyn.

Kyla then rode her electric tricycle toward the small market in Emerald City.

The store needed to be restocked once a week. Once she reached the market, Kyla skillfully found the old sellers to restock the goods her store needed.

However, after she bought all the goods and put them on the tricycle, she found that a tire had been removed. Two seemingly honest young men went to Kyla and said, “Oh, the tire of your tricycle is gone. You can’t ride it anymore.

There’s a garage right next to us. Why don’t we help you take your bike over there to have it fixed?”

Kyla instantly recalled the sellers mentioning how tricycles and electric bikes were getting their tires punctured or removed when she was restocking, which caused the nearby garage’s business to soar.

Many who went to the garage to fix their bikes were brutally ripped off.

Many people in the market speculated that the people from the garage were responsible for all these incidents, but the surveillance cameras installed outside were damaged. A few days after they fixed the surveillance cameras, they would break again.

Kyla immediately said, “No thanks. I’ll think of something else.”

“What else can you do? The garage is just next door, and it’s convenient. We only want to do you a favor. It would take a long time for a woman like you to tow your bike to the garage yourself with all these things.”

“No thanks! I’ll figure it out myself,” said Kyla.

The two people’s expressions changed instantly. They stopped pretending to look honest and spoke menacingly, “Don’t take things the hard way when we’re giving you a choice. You have to fix it over there whether you like it or not!”

With that said, the two men wanted to move Kyla’s electric tricycle over.

Kyla said quickly, “What are you doing? I’m calling the police!”

“Sure, call the police. You asked us to help you move the tricycle to the garage, and now you changed your mind.

We’ll leave if you pay us 500 dollars. We can’t have done all this in vain, can we?”

The two men spoke casually, but Kyla knew she had run into scoundrels.

dollars was not a small amount of money for her. She took out her phone and planned to call the police.

The two men immediately jumped at her, trying to snatch the phone from her hand.

Kyla tried to avoid them, but they grabbed her hair so violently that she leaned backward.

“Ah!” A scream was let out from her mouth.

Just then, a man yanked the hand that held Kyla’s hair and yelled, “Let go! I’ve called the police. They’ll be here in a minute! Let’s see who’s the one who’ll be in trouble when we’re at the police station!”

The two men spat at that and snapped, “Damn it! Don’t let us see you again!”

With that said, the two people quickly left. Kyla looked at the person who just helped her out… It was Chase Harper!

“Chase, thank you,” Kyla said gratefully.

Chase Harper said, “I’m old now, almost 40. People call me Old Chase. Are you okay? What the hell just happened?”

“It’s fine. It’s nothing serious.” Kyla explained what had happened while tying her hair.

Chase Harper looked at Kyla’s hands as she tied her hair dexterously. He could not help but say in envy, “You women have such flexible fingers when tying your hair. I can never do it well. It’s a mess every time I help my daughter tie her hair.”

“Just try it a couple of times. If you still can’t master it, I’ll teach you some other time,” she said.

“Okay, thank you in advance, then.” Chase Harper smiled and then added, “Those two men probably removed the tire of your tricycle just now. Some garages are heartless like that! They won’t last long. You have so much stuff here. Let me take you home first.”

“But my tricycle…”

“Give me the keys. I’ll have my colleague fix it for you and help you ride it back to your place. I have a tire shop right here in the market,” said Chase Harper.

“Thank you so much,” said Kyla as she handed the electric tricycle’s keys over to Chase.

Chase talked to his colleague, helped Kyla carry her stuff to his car, and drove her back to the store.

On their way, Kyla learned that Chase had partnered up with a friend to open a shop but they had dissolved their partnership. He was now renting a store in the market by himself, selling electric bikes and various accessories.

Sometimes, he would receive orders to modify cars.

“It’s good to do business alone. It’s easy to have conflicting opinions when friends do business together, making it hard to go on,” said Kyla.

“It’s not that we had different opinions. It’s just that…” Chase Harper seemed troubled as he spoke.

Kyla knew it might be something he was too embarrassed to talk about, so she did not pursue it and changed the subject.

The car arrived in front of the store. Chase Harper moved Kyla’s goods from the car and greeted Mrs. Corbyn warmly. After finding out that the store’s water pipes were always clogged, he took the tools from the car and helped fix their pipes.

“Thank you so much! You sent me back, helped me with my tricycle, and even helped me fix my pipes,” said Kyla.

Chase Harper said, “It’s nothing. Don’t mention it. I gotta go now. I’ll let you know when your tricycle is ready.”

“Okay,” said Kyla.

After Chase Harper left, Mrs. Corbyn seemed to say regretfully, “Speaking of which, Chase’s pretty good, and he’s nice to Nelson. If you had gotten together with Chase, you would be leading a good life now.”

Kyla said, “Mom, what are you thinking? Chase has never felt that way for me. He’s a good man who deserves to be cherished. I’m at peace with myself. I’ll only be giving him trouble if I get together with him.”
