“I’m just worried that your parents are still a little dissatisfied with me and don’t think I’m the best candidate to be their son-in-law,” said Hadwin Stephenson.
Lina could not help smiling. “You’re the best man my parents can ask for to be their son-in-law. Besides, I’m pregnant with your baby. Who else would I marry? I’ll still marry you even if they object.”
She looked intently at him, her round eyes full of determination. “I, Lina, will only marry Hadwin Stephenson.” Her melodious voice was so powerful.
The look in her eyes and voice seemed to appease his tension little by little. “I, Hadwin Stephenson, will only marry Lina!”
They arrived at the Sweeney family’s house. Lina had called her parents in advance and told her that Hadwin Stephenson would join them for dinner in the evening, so Mrs. Sweeney had prepared a table full of food.
When she saw Hadwin Stephenson come in carrying so many things, she politely said, “Hey, why did you bring so many things when we’re just having dinner? Are they for Lina?”
“No, they’re for you two,” said Hadwin Stephenson as he gave them their respective gifts.
Looking at the wine, Mr. Sweeney said with a chuckle, “This wine must be expensive. Let’s have a nice drink together today!”
Lina dared not tell her father that the wine cost more than 100,000 dollars, which was her father’s yearly salary.
When she saw the jewelry Hadwin Stephenson gave her, Mrs. Sweeney exclaimed, “This… This is too expensive.

Lina wondered whether she should tell her mother it cost 20 million dollars, not hundreds of thousands!

The married couple had wondered when to make a subtle mention of marriage, but Hadwin Stephenson just said it right away.
“Do you have any requirements? I’ll do whatever I can.”
“All we want is for you to treat Lina well,” said Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney.
Hadwin Stephenson gave a slight nod when he heard that. “Okay, I’ll play it by ear then.”
They had a peaceful dinner. Once it was over, Hadwin Stephenson took the initiative to clean up the dishes and carried them to the kitchen to wash.
Mrs. Sweeney looked approvingly at her future son–in–law. Not many people with his identity and status were willing to do the dishes.
“You’ve found a good husband, so your father and I are relieved,” Mrs. Sweeney said to her daughter emotionally.
Lina smiled and said, “Mom and Dad, Hadwin and I will be fine. You don’t have to continue worrying about me. I’ll be good to you two. You can go anywhere you want, even around the world.”
“Around the world? We’ll have to look after your baby when they’re born!” said Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney. Although Hadwin Stephenson would find the best nanny for the child, they still wanted to take care of their grandson or granddaughter.
Mr. Sweeney also joined the conversation with a smile. “Hadwin’s a good kid. He has never been arrogant with our family. Don’t bully him after you marry him!”
“How could I possibly bully him?” mumbled Lina.
“Bully?” Hadwin Stephenson’s voice rang suddenly.
Lina looked in the direction and saw that he had already done the dishes and was walking out of the kitchen.
“Nothing!” she said quickly.
“Then take your household registration booklet and ID. Sleep at my place tonight and we’ll register tomorrow morning,” said Hadwin Stephenson.
“We’re registering tomorrow?” Lina was a little overwhelmed. “Isn’t that a little too soon?”
“Then when do you want to register?” Hadwin Stephenson raised his eyebrows and asked in reply.
“It’s better to do it as soon as possible. Do you want to wait until the baby is born to register?” Mr. Sweeney smacked his daughter on the forehead.
Mrs. Sweeney hurriedly took their household registration booklet and her daughter’s ID. She shoved them into her daughter’s hand and whispered in her daughter’s ear, “Hurry and register. We’ll hold you solely responsible if you don’t register tomorrow!”
Lina was speechless. ‘How desperate is Mom to get me married?‘
However, she did not have to pack anything to spend the night at Hadwin Stephenson’s mansion. She had her clothes and daily necessities there. After returning to Emerald City, she alternated between staying at his mansion and her home!
Hadwin Stephenson drove while Lina sat on the passenger seat, looking at the man beside her.

“What’s the matter? What are you laughing at?” he asked.
“I just thought of how funny dads with their kids are when I scrolled through those short videos carlier. I wonder how you’ll be like with our child,” she said, “You’ll find out when the baby is born,” he said.
“I wonder if we’ll have any conflicts or quarrels after our child’s birth. I’ve seen online posts where many couples were fine at first, but they started having conflicts after their children were born,” she said a little apprehensively.
“Stop looking at those posts. They’ll only upset you. Even if we quarrel and have conflicts, I’ll always be the first one to surrender,” he said.
She was slightly stunned.
The car happened to come to a crossroad where there was a red light ahead.
