Filed To Story: A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love
It broke Justin’s heart. “Nonsense! I’ve yearned for you, and I dreamed of starting a family with you. I’ll never give you up.”
“Then, why did you say that?” Flossie looked hurt and teary.
“I don’t want to force your hand. I’m worried that you decided just because you were touched after I saved you. Who knows, you might regret it later when you’re calmer,” Justin said, looking dispirited and helpless.
Most of the time, winning something doesn’t mean victory. On the other hand, a loss could be felt for an eternity. Justin didn’t want his wife to spend her life missing another man.
If that was the case, he would rather never get the chance to be with her. At the very least, she would remain beautiful in his heart, the untouchable figure who would never fade with time. He feared they might end up hating each other in time if they didn’t marry for love. It would fill them with regret.
“You didn’t force my hand. I chose to spend the rest of my life with you after I thought it through.” Flossie kept her head low but didn’t cry. Instead, she was calm. “I knew the choice I had to make when he didn’t appear. I waited for him until the last moment.”
“So, am I your second choice?” Justin stared at her, suddenly finding himself very inferior. He laughed at himself. “I wonder, is this a reward or punishment for me?”
“I’m sorry!” Flossie blurted-she realized her selfishness.
“I admit that I took you as a substitute. I wanted to get out of that suffering relationship, and I didn’t care about your feelings. I’m so sorry.”
At first, she wanted to forget Halston and start a new relationship.
And then, Justin risked his life to save her. On top of that, they were compatible in various aspects. She felt that she could spend the rest of her life with him.
However, Flossie realized that her actions were purely self-serving. She never considered Justin’s feelings or asked about his willingness. She merely took him as a convenient tool.
“No, you did nothing wrong,” Justin said. “You have your choices. Likewise, I have my choices too.”
He stared at Flossie passionately, his teary eyes filled with pain, and held her hand.
“I chose you. I want to stay with you while you’re trying to forget about him. I want you to be happy with me.”
“You…” Flossie looked into Justin’s eyes. His generosity, firmness, and thoughtfulness moved her. At the same time, she felt ashamed of herself.
“I don’t blame you at all. Instead, I want to thank you for picking me to be your tool. I think… As you’re willing to fall in love with me, it’ll be rewarding!” he said, and he tried to lace Flossie’s fingers with his.
Flossie was momentarily speechless. Then, she grasped his hand firmly and laced her fingers with his. She genuinely hoped to start a brand-new romance.
The plane flew for a few hours before landing steadily at North City.
Beach City was modern, luxurious, and tolerant. On the contrary, North City was rigorous and stifling, filled with the stiffness of being controlled by the military.
The Baldwin family ruled this city. They were involved with the government, finance, entertainment, and other aspects. In other words, they were influential and powerful. Now, Flossie had chosen to stay in North City. To some extent, her circumstances were similar to Liam’s when he was trapped in the fort ruled by the Jenkins family. Should Flossie regret her choice, she would have to pay a great price.
Previously, she regretted it once and fell out with the Baldwin family. The result nearly got her killed. Hence, she was now very cautious with her choice. She could never regret it. If not, the consequences would be unimaginable.
“I mean it. Think it through. If you don’t want to, you don’t have to get off the plane. I’ll explain everything to Grandpa.” Justin confirmed with Flossie again when they were getting off the plane. He was still worried.
The mishap the other day upset the Baldwin family greatly. Had Justin not threatened suicide, Austin, given his temper, would have brought down his wrath upon Flossie.
Justin had pleaded earnestly for the Baldwin family to lend their army for assistance, and only then did Austin relent. He would give another chance, with one condition if they used that army, Flossie had to marry Justin.
Regardless, Austin sincerely liked Flossie. When the Golden Trio was still around, he fought against Timothy in front of Maurice for Flossie’s sake.
But Maurice had passed away, and Timothy didn’t cherish his granddaughter-in-law. Hence, Austin wanted to take good care of Flossie in Maurice’s place and show her the greatest respect.
“I…” Flossie stammered.
She gripped the armrest, suddenly feeling guilty.
In the past, Flossie recalled hurting Justin once. If she chose to get off the plane, she couldn’t regret it. For a moment, she was unsure. She wondered if she was ready to make such a huge decision.
“It’s fine. I told you, it’s not too late if you don’t get off the plane,” Justin whispered. Although he looked hurt, he remained gentle and kind. “You have one minute to reconsider.”
“No, that’s unnecessary.” After taking a deep breath, Flossie finally made up her mind. “I’ll go with you.”
She had made such a decision after much contemplation. Since she was bold enough to board the plane, then she could get off it.
“Alright!” Justin’s eyes brightened. He walked over and interlocked his fingers with hers.” You don’t have to be scared. I’ll be with you every step of the way. Let’s face everything together.”
They walked side-by-side as they got off the plane.
They took an individual pathway to exit the airport since they rode the exclusive plane of the Baldwin family. The Baldwin family had been waiting at the exit for a long time, including Austin and Justin’s parents.
“Here they are! Justin didn’t let us down. He brought Ms. Flossie home!” Sophia, Justin’s mother, saw them from afar. She could not stop smiling.
She had always liked Flossie and wanted Flossie to be her granddaughter-in-law. She had long gone for beauty care and put on luxurious clothes just to meet Flossie. She also meticulously prepared a precious gift for Flossie.
“Calm down. Don’t make a fool of yourself.” Jack, Justin’s father, glared at Sophia. He adjusted his tie, looking solemn. “We have to make her know that we’re reliable.”
Austin stood in front of them. Although he was nearly ninety years old, he was still energetic. He used to be a soldier, and was pretty tough and domineering.
“Hmph! If she runs away again, I won’t go easy on her!” Austin subconsciously grasped his silver walking stick tightly.
He was a very decisive and old-fashioned person, with strict family traditions. He would never allow anyone to disobey him.
Flossie promised to marry Justin the other day, but suddenly ran away during the wedding. If someone else had done that, Austin would have made her pay a heavy price.
However, it was Flossie, the granddaughter of Maurice, the man Austin respected the most. Regardless of how much he resented it, Austin couldn’t bring himself to punish Flossie. Hence, he chose to forgive her.
In the meantime, the Baldwin family didn’t give up on her. They gave various hints and hoped that Justin could win Flossie over. Despite that, nothing happened after such a long time. They had lost hope.
But a few days ago, Justin suddenly asked them to send an army to save Flossie. If he could successfully rescue her, she would marry him.
Austin was excited. Without any hesitation, he dispatched the army that he had gifted Flossie and provided them with the most advanced weapons.
Justin also called them the night before, telling them to get ready to welcome him and Flossie home.
The Baldwin family was so excited that they couldn’t sleep. They waited at the exit of the airport eagerly for a long time.
“Dad, you can’t be this fierce. The past is the past. What’s important now is Justin has brought Ms. Flossie home. He didn’t let us down. And don’t scare her off again. Just smile!” Sophia boldly reminded Austin, who looked stiff, for the sake of the bigger picture.
“Why should I smile? I’m born like this. I hate smiling!” Austin retorted stubbornly. His face grew stiffer and he looked more solemn.
“Why can’t you take my advice? Ms. Flossie came to a strange city all alone. I’m sure she’s scared, but you’re going to be so fierce to her. If you scare her off, you’ll make a scene again. It’ll be too late if you regret it by then!” Sophia nagged, insistent on explaining the interests at stake.
“Okay, stop. Dad’s always like that. He’s a general. No general loves to smile. When did he ever smile? Stop forcing him. We’ll do the smiling.” Jack dragged Sophia to the side, for fear that Austin might explode and make a scene.
If that happened, things would become very awkward.
Meanwhile, Flossie found it hard to walk. She was uneasy, looking as if she was about to apologize to them for her past mistake.
“Sigh… I’m sure your family hates me very much. We fell out with each other because I ran away the other day.”
Previously, the Baldwins were very nice to her. They took her as their daughter and granddaughter respectively. Yet, she took advantage of their kindness and chose to run away with Halston, humiliating them utterly.
Now, she returned. She didn’t know what the Baldwin family would think of her.
