Grace and Lina went to Kyla’s store.

Business was rather slow around two o’clock. Kyla was happy to see Lina look so happy.

Good times were finally starting for Lina after her hard times were over. She would not end up the same as her.

Kyla said, “Things will get busy when your baby is born. Now that you and Hadwin Stephenson are back together, where are you going to settle down when you get married?”

“Mainly Emerald City, I guess. Hadwin said my parents are used to living in Emerald City, so they probably won’t get used to J City if we made them move there. If I separate from my parents, I’d be worried about them missing me.

So he said Stephenson Group will set up another headquarters here in Emerald City when the time comes,” said Lina.

Kyla said, “Hadwin Stephenson really cares about you. You and Grace are doing well. I’m happy for you two.”

“Kyla, you’re always happy for us. Have you ever thought of yourself?” said Lina.

“Me?” Kyla paused.

store. Your store is doing okay now, but living costs will only increase as Nelson grows older. Aunt is getting old too. The medical expenses and whatnots will be expensive if she gets. sick,” said Lina.

Kyla’s eyes dimmed. She had thought about what Lina said, but there was so little she could do. The quiet life she had now was already a luxury to her.

“Kyla, have you thought of doing any other businesses? For example, you can open a restaurant or something. Lina and I can invest in it. You’ll be in charge of managing it. You’ll be a shareholder with your skills. If business is good, we’ll make it a chain. It’s better than opening a store.”

Kyla knew that her best friends were trying to help her, but she had never liked taking advantage of others. Her friends would be giving her money for free if she went with it.

Watching Kyla’s indecisiveness, Grace said, “Kyla, you may think about it. There’s no need to answer us right away.

There’s no rush to open a restaurant anyway.”

“Thank you. I’ll think about it.” Kyla was speaking when her cell phone suddenly rang, so she answered it. After listening for a while, her expression instantly changed and she quickly said, “Okay, got it. I’ll come over right away.”

With that, she hurriedly got up and said to Grace and Lina, “Sorry, I can’t entertain you anymore. I have to go to the school now.

Something happened to Nelson.”

“Nelson? What happened to him?” Grace and Lina asked hurriedly.

“They said he beat up his classmates at school. His class teacher asked me to go over now.” Kyla woke Mrs. Corbyn, who was taking a nap inside, to take care of the store. Then, she packed up her things and went to the school.

Grace and Lina followed her to the school.

When they arrived at the discipline office, they saw that Nelson Corbyn’s uniform zipper was torn and one sleeve was ripped. Dirt covered his body in many places, his face was red and swollen, and his lips were injured.

Kyla quickly ran forward as she looked at her son in distress. “What happened? How did you get into a fight?”

However, Nelson said nothing. He only lowered his head. He seemed anxious as the hands by his sides were clutching the dirty hem of his shirt.

Kyla paused a little. “Nelson, what’s wrong? Tell me what happened.”

However, Nelson kept his head down.

It was Grace who suddenly noticed that the hearing aid Nelson was supposed to be wearing was missing.

Grace frowned. She stepped forward, gently cupped Nelson Corbyn’s cheeks, and asked, “Where’s your hearing aid? Why is it gone?”

She knew Nelson could read lips.

Nelson turned pale. Kyla and Lina had also noticed that the hearing aid was missing.

“What happened? Why is his hearing aid gone?”

The class teacher nearby said, “Here’s what happened. Nelson Corbyn got into a fight with his classmates and his hearing aid accidentally fell into the drain. It’ll be a miracle to find it.””

“What on earth happened? What were they fighting about?”

Grace asked as she looked at the class teacher.

“Nelson Corbyn’s hearing aid fell to the ground by accident. A student picked it up to return it to Nelson Corbyn, but he beat them up. Several other students got involved and the hearing aid eventually fell down the drain during the scuffle,” the class Grace frowned. Nelson was not someone who would pick a fight with others for no reason. The truth was probably not as what the teacher said.

Sure enough, when she looked at Nelson, she saw an aggrieved expression on Nelson’s face. Grace knew that Nelson knew what the teacher was saying even though he could not hear.

“Have you investigated the cause of Nelson’s fight? And Nelson is here. What about the classmate he fought with?

Where are they?”

“The children are in the infirmary, having their wounds tended to. They’ll be here soon. I’ve also informed their parents. Nelson Corbyn and Nelson Corbyn’s mother, apologize to them. You should pay them if they ask for compensation for medical expenses. I think they’re reasonable people and the matter will end here,” the class teacher said.

Grace asked, “Can we also ask them to compensate for the hearing aid and apologize to Nelson?”

The class teacher seemed displeased. “Who are you? I’m talking to Nelson Corbyn and Nelson Corbyn’s mother.”

“I’m Nelson Corbyn’s godmother as well as a friend of Nelson Corbyn’s mother. Of course, I need to find out why Nelson Corbyn should apologize and pay their medical bills when they don’t have to do the same,” Grace said coldly.

“It’s because Nelson Corbyn started the fight in the first place. Of course, he should apologize and his parents should compensate.”

“How did you draw that conclusion?? Witnesses? Material evidence? Or just based on what the others in the fight said?”

“That person is the vice class monitor. Several other students who were involved also said Nelson Corbyn started it.”

“But they’re already in conflict with Nelson Corbyn. Even if they go to court, the judge might not believe them. But you’re believing them without a doubt!”

“You…” The class teacher froze, and the displeasure on their face grew.

“What’s the matter? Did my son and the others lie, then? It seems that you want to go to court. Alright, I’ll see what the judge has to say about this!” A voice suddenly rang at the office door.

Grace looked up and saw a man and a woman walking in with a little boy about the same height as Nelson. The child’s exposed wounds seemed much less severe than Nelson’s. In comparison, Nelson should be the one who should have gone to the infirmary.

The man who spoke up before looked at Grace and the others with haughtiness and disdain, while the woman next to him said, “You want to use the law against us? Okay, I’ll send our lawyer over and see who’s in the right.”

The class teacher hurried forward to flatter them with compliments. They looked obsequious.

The little boy even made faces at Nelson Corbyn, behaving arrogantly.

Nelson Corbyn’s drooping hands at his sides clenched tighter, and his little face flushed.

Lina’s anger rose, and she immediately said, “Okay, let’s go to court and see who’s right. Nelson lost his hearing aid. We’re not going to let this go so easily!”

He said, “What’s the matter? Do you want to blame the issue of the hearing aid on us? He lost his hearing aid himself, yet you want us to take the fall for it? It was Nelson Corbyn who he’s being criticized. Hmph, I heard Nelson Corbyn’s mom has been to prison. They probably think they’re all that. Like mother like son!”

Kyla turned ghastly pale as soon as she heard that.

Nelson could not hear anything, but he could read lips. He instantly got furious and wanted to rush forward.

Nelson would have rushed up had it not been for Kyla holding her son back.

Grace turned to Nelson and said, “Nelson, what happened? If you’re the one who started the fight, I’ll apologize to them with you. If you didn’t do it and are being wronged, I’ll get you justice!”
