“Hahaha! Stop bluffing!” Macsen laughed. “People who can save you now can’t even protect themselves. Plus, this jetty is full of my men. I’m curious how you’re going to kill me..”
When he stopped laughing, his gaze turned cold. “Do it!”
The machete was close to Leia’s scalp, which was about to be cruelly skinned.
At that critical moment, a loud gunshot reverberated in the air. The person holding the machete was shot in the hand, and dropped the machete to the ground.
“You’re so arrogant. Aren’t you afraid of being choked to death?” A teasing voice came from not far away.
“Who’s there?” Macsen’s expression changed. He looked in the direction of the voice. Much to his shock, he saw that his subordinates got caught at some point.
An elite team surrounded them and gradually narrowed that area.
“You guys… You’re…”
Macsen didn’t know them, let alone the origin of the team. They looked so strong, armed with the most advanced weapons. At a glance, one could tell that they were powerful mercenaries.
“It isn’t important who we are. All you need to know is that you’ve offended someone you shouldn’t have offended. You’re doomed today!”
The man’s voice came from outside of the crowd. He sounded casual but full of dominance.
“Who’s here?” Leia, having survived the crisis, became very curious.
However, she couldn’t move because she was tied up with the others. Naturally, she couldn’t see where the voice came from.
The next second, someone with a familiar voice rushed toward her quickly.
“It’s you?” Leia’s eyes went wide.
She looked at the man before her in surprise. Everything happened so suddenly, making her seriously doubt if it was her illusion before she got killed.
It was none other than Xavier, her only regret before she died.
“Yes, it’s me!”
Xavier hugged Leia, feeling sorry for her. He kissed her lips, which had gone pale because of her fear. He kept kissing her as if he had finally found the treasure that he had lost. Surprise and sadness overcame him.
“Luckily, I came in time. You’re still alive… I’m sorry to have made you suffer. I’m a useless boyfriend!”
When his passion grew, he ignored the rest and kissed Lela passionately.
“Mm…” The kissing made Leia dizzy. She frowned in embarrassment and turned away. “What’s going on? What are you doing here?”
“I got news that you’re in trouble.” Guilt gleamed in Xavier’s eyes. “I should have paid more attention to you. I wasn’t worried when you told me that you went on a trip with Flossie. After all, she’s with you. You guys would be fine. So, I got busy with my work these days and ignored you. I didn’t expect… to see you get into trouble!”

Liam leaned against Leia because they were tied up together. He could see their passionate kissing clearly, and it grossed him out.
Every man would have objections against their brother-in-law. On top of that, Xavier was an infamous scumbag in Beach City. He boldly took advantage of Leia in front of Liam. If Liam wasn’t tied up, he would have long punched Xavier.
“Mr. Osborne, your bias toward me is serious. But we aren’t new acquaintances. You didn’t watch your distance and always stayed close to Flossie in the past. Now Lei and I are in love with each other. Our actions are more reasonable than what you did with Flossie. Stop holding double standards,” Xavier said rudely, tilting his head to look at Liam while hugging Leia.
“I used to hang out with Flossie because we were close. I was sincere toward her, but you’re different. No one knows what you think of my sister,” Liam retorted.
He sized Xavier up and snorted. “You’re obscene, and you look like you want to make my sister yours in front of all of us. Is there a normal guy who’d act like you?”
“I never said I’m like any other man,” Xavier said boldly. “I never claimed that I was an ordinary man in front of Lei. I’m a greedy man with her. I just want to make her mine!”
“How dare you!” Liam snarled.
He had underestimated Xavier and failed to see how shameless the latter could be. His rebukes failed to hurt Xavier. On the contrary, it made Xavier feel proud of himself. He acted like others could not do anything about him.
“Let me go now! I’ll make you feel my punches!” Liam couldn’t hold back his urge to beat Xavier up.
“If that’s the case, I can’t let you go. I don’t want to fight my future brother-in-law,” Xavier said casually before he immediately helped to set Lela and Flossie free.
“Are you alright, Flossie?” Xavier observed Flossie with the same amount of anxiety.
After all, she was once the woman he admired too. He still looked at her with deep emotions, but this affection was more about admiration and respect. He wouldn’t violate her dignity so easily.
“I’m fine,” Flossie replied.
Flossie shook her head and frowned. She asked Xavier solemnly, “You weren’t the one who spoke just now. So… Who else came with you?”
They were tied up just now, so Flossie could not see who threatened their enemies behind them. However, she was sure that Xavier didn’t come alone for the rescue.
“Who else do you hope came with me?” Xavier smiled and asked Flossie curiously.
“I don’t hold such hope. All I know is that no matter who came to save us, they wanted some value in us in exchange,” Flossie said, her tone calm but her words cruel.
Of course, one person would appear in her mind. Yet, she was too timid to hold such hope. Besides, that wasn’t his voice either. Someone else must have come with Xavier.
“Who else could it be? It must be someone powerful to outflank Macsen’s men. I’m sure you know who that is,” Leia said meaningfully. “He finally did something good.”
“Stop saying nonsense since you don’t know.” Xavier tried to stop Leia because of the complicated situation. It couldn’t be explained in a few words.
“What are you talking about? Did I say anything wrong? Who else could deploy such an elite team?” Although Leia thought Halston was a scumbag, she never doubted his power.
Macsen controlled the military power of the fort. Besides, the people who came to the jetty with him that day must be his powerful subordinates whom he had picked meticulously. But at that critical moment, they were outflanked.
No one else other than Halston could have such outstanding power.

That voice came from behind them again. Everyone looked over, shocked.
“Only Phoenix can save herself!”
Justin pocketed his hands, clad in a black windbreaker. He appeared in front of everyone in a cool and handsome manner. He was gone just now to handle Macsen. Flossie admired that elite team. She also knew that Haze must have spent a lot of effort to ask Austin’s army to save them.
