Filed to story: A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love
Though the man radiated icy fury, the slow and unhurried way he spoke gave off an awe-inspiring aura.
“My man…?” Flossie paused. “Are you talking about Halston?”
To Flossie, only Halston could be considered as her man.
“That’s right.” The man turned away from the surging currents and cracked a hideous smile. “It’s been six years. I’ve waited for six long years. Finally, I can make him pay the price-a life for a life.”
“Wait a minute!” Leia immediately stepped forward, agitated. “There’s a misunderstanding here!”
The man frowned and glared at Leia coldly. “What kind of misunderstanding?”
“You’re misinformed! Don’t you know Halston has divorced my friend? They aren’t even married now! They don’t love each other anymore. If you want to take revenge on him, you shouldn’t use my friend. You should target his actual beloved instead!” Leia said quickly, her tone dripping with disdain for Halston.
He was a complete and utter disaster for Flossie. When they were still a couple, she suffered much for him. Even when they got separated, she still suffered because of him.
It was infuriating!
“Divorced?” The man was surprised at first, but soon remained calm. He snorted, “That’s not a big deal. We can’t judge the love a man holds for a woman through marriage. Many men ignore their wives and are madly in love with their lovers. I’m sure Flossie is the woman Halston loves the most.”
“I’m telling you, he doesn’t love her!” Leia insisted.
She sighed. Filled with indignation, she added, “He divorced my friend for his mistress. Based on your words, his mistress should be the one he loves best. If not, he wouldn’t divorce my friend and watch her date another man. Do you think a man would behave like that if he loved her?”
“Is that so?” The man narrowed his eyes, trying to ascertain the authenticity of Leia’s words.
If Halston divorced Flossie for his mistress, then from the perspective of a man, that meant he did have a change of heart. Flossie was no longer the woman he loved the most.
Then again, based on the information the man had found, Halston was madly in love with Flossie. He risked his life for her repeatedly even when he didn’t need to.
“If you don’t believe me, you can make some calls and ask around. Many men want to win my friend over. The most earnest one is Justin, the only son of the Baldwin family. He’s trying hard to win her over. Look, no man can give up their beloved to another man. Don’t men always want to seize the women they love and make her their sole belonging?” Leia said.
She had analyzed things logically as she wanted the man to let Flossie go. At the same time, she wanted justice for Flossie.
But to Flossie, Leia’s words were harsh and heartbreaking.
All the facts told her that Halston had changed his mind and no longer loved her. Yet, she still loved him deeply. What’s more, the moment this man claimed that Halston was her man, she thought of Halston without hesitation. How ridiculous! To think she had firmly imprinted a man so disloyal deep in her heart. It was an utter defeat for her.
The man sneered, “Yes, you’re right. But based on my understanding, Halston would die for this woman. They have kids, too. Regardless, she must be important to him. Killing her will break his heart for a while. That’s more than enough.
“But this is meaningless!” Leia protested. This man was completely insane! “You should kill his beloved, his mistress. If you kill someone irrelevant, he won’t be hurt at all. Why would you want to kill someone innocent?’ “Hmph! I’ve killed many people, it isn’t a big deal for me to kill more. Even if your death is irrelevant to him, I can still kill his lover. In short, you two must die. I won’t let you off the hook, even if Halston isn’t involved,” the man said wickedly, looking merciless. He couldn’t care less about human lives.
“Are you out of your mind?” Leia stomped her feet and snarled, “If it weren’t for Halston, we’d never offended you! Do you have to kill us? Who are you?”
To her, this whole fort was a place of misfortune. Everyone they met, including children, was insane and wanted them dead.
Flossie observed the man and then glanced at the dense crowd of guards.
“If I’m not mistaken…” she said carefully, “you’re Macsen, Luneth’s husband, aren’t you?”
The man was stunned, then laughed heartily.
“No wonder you’re Halston’s most beloved woman! You’re smart.”
“Huh? He’s Macsen? How can you tell?’ Leia looked at the man with confusion, her eyes widening. She never took this man as the amazing figure Liam had talked about.
“In the whole fort, other than Benjamin, the master, no one could offend Liam and snatch the hostages away from Mateo except for you, the one with an army. Plus, I hurt your dearest son. It’s not hard to guess your identity,” Flossie said, her logic sound.
“What a logical analysis! You think fast. I admire you for that.” Macsen clapped, giving Flossie an admiring look. The next moment, he turned cold. “Since that’s the case, I won’t beat around the bush. I took you here to settle the grudge between us.”
front of Leia,
“It’s fine if you want to take revenge on me, but you have to let my friend go.” Flossie stood i meeting Macsen’s gaze boldly. “This incident has nothing to do with her. Don’t hurt her.” “No.” Macsen shook his head, then said regretfully, “I wanted to keep you alive. But since I’ve got you here, I can’t let you go safely. It’ll be humiliating for me. You’re such a smart woman. It’ll be lonely for you to die alone, so I’ll let your friend be with you. I’d be too cruel if I didn’t allow that.”
“That’s ridiculous! You’re just a bloodthirsty monster! Are we supposed to thank you now?” Leia roared.
Macsen was pissing her off. This was the first time she heard someone make killing people sound so good. He claimed that he was kind, too-what a hateful hypocrite!
“Yeah, you can get rid of us, but you need to be mentally prepared too! You can ask about my friend’s background and mine. Do you think you can get away with killing us?’ Leia argued.
She didn’t think this man would be so stubborn and stir up trouble for himself over a trivial misunderstanding. “Your background isn’t important. I’ll feel great after taking revenge.” Macsen faked a smile and pointed at his surroundings. “Plus, there’s no one else around except for us and the surging currents. If I kill you, will anyone know?”
Macsen made Andrew guard the vacant third jail to create the illusion that Mateo was the one who got rid of Flossie and Leia. When Halston came, Mateo would take the blame for Macsen. Then, he could secretly return to his base safe and sound.
“Aren’t you cunning?” Furious, Leia stomped her feet once more. “You made yourself sound so great, but you don’t even dare to expose your name to get back on Halston. You’re just a coward! You won’t even feel anything after getting your revenge. It’s meaningless!”
“Excuse me?” Macsen growled, furious. Leia had touched a sore spot. “How dare you call me a coward!”
“Aren’t you?” Leia kept on pushing his buttons, sneering. “Call Halston now if you dare, or call the Midnight Demon, my friend’s older brother! Or at least, call my father. You can’t do anything to the ones who harmed you. All you can do is hurt women like us. Doesn’t that make you a coward?”
“How dare you!” Macsen wanted to stay calm, but Leia’s words roused his anger.
“What about it? Did I say anything wrong? Brave people won’t act cowardly like you. You want revenge, but you’re trying to do it secretly. That’s so ridiculous!” Leia kept saying.
At that point, Leia leaned backward and laughed heartily.
Flossie listened to the conversation and shook her head helplessly. They were doomed, alright.
Their enemy wanted them dead later, but here Leia was, insulting and rebuking him fiercely. He would probably kill them on the spot.
Just as Flossie had expected, Macsen said nothing more. Instead, he waved and instructed his subordinate, “Do it now. I can’t wait any longer.”
“Okay, boss.”
Macsen’s subordinate nodded respectfully and glanced at the rest of the guards. They approached Flossie and Leia with two sandbags and ropes.
“W-What are you doing?” Leia swallowed, terrified at the sight of the sandbags and ropes.
Masen sneered and said fiercely, “Didn’t you say I’m a coward? I’ll show you what a coward I am.”
The guards bound Flossie and Leia tightly and secured the heavy sandbags around their ankles.
Macsen’s subordinate looked at Flossie and Leia, now tightly bound, and asked him carefully, “Boss, it’s done. Do we just push them into the river?”
“Do it. This is the perfect moment to kill them. If we don’t feed them to the fish, it’ll be a waste.” Macsen faked a smile and tried to regain his dignity.
Being the vicious man he was, Macsen didn’t value human lives and thought that he could casually trifle with them. Anyway, he had gotten rid of many people in the Rain River.
He was a true coward. Though he hated Halston to the core, he didn’t dare to target the latter openly. Instead, he could only vent his anger on Flossie, Halston’s beloved. Leia got involved, too.
Leia had been right. Macsen wanted to take revenge in secret and get a good time out of it. Just as she had said, he was just a coward.
As Flossie and Leia were about to be pushed into the surging river, Flossie screamed, “Wait a minute!”
Macsen frowned and looked at Flossie from afar. He found it hard to kill such a capable person. Hence, he stopped his subordinate.
