Chapter 872 – A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love

One of them was the famous president of Guajardo Enterprise, while the other was a famous media tycoon. Any one of them could easily defeat Mateo. If they worked together, Mateo would be doomed!

“You’re crazy!” Liam spat.

He had no time to talk nonsense with Mateo. Frowning, he wondered-who else it could be if not Mateo? Was Benjamin the mastermind?

However, Mateo forbade the spread of the news. Benjamin would never hear about what happened between Flossie, Leia, and Luneth’s son. If he did, he would just demand an explanation from Liam once he took Leia and Flossie away. He wouldn’t make Andrew guard the entrance of the jail in secret as a distraction.

“Who do you think it is?” Liam asked darkly, looking at Mateo.

Mateo frowned, thinking.

After a long time, he said meaningfully, “In this fort, there’s only one person who dares to fight against you and me and makes Master step forward.”

“Could it be…” Liam became enlightened and abruptly stood up. “Things are getting troublesome. I must find them right away!”

“I’ll go with you.” Mateo jumped out of bed and put on his clothes.

Liam looked at him in confusion and snapped coldly, “Stop meddling! Are you plotting something?”

He had no trust in Mateo and doubted everything Mateo did.

“Plotting what? Of course I want to get them back safe and sound with you!” Mateo wiped away his cold sweat and said emotionally, “I don’t want to be accused wrongly before I get anything good out of it. Both tycoons will find fault with me!’

Mateo had a restless sleep the night he learned that Halston and Xavier protected Flossie and Leia. He felt that he had unknowingly got into deep trouble, and thought hard how he could resolve it.

Since he had the chance to fix things now, he wanted to make up for his mistake and leave a good impression on both Halston and Xavier. It would be beneficial for him when he took over Benjamin’s business in the future.

Although Liam looked down on Mateo, he could work with Mateo for the time being. After all, Mateo was familiar with this fort and was more experienced than him in handling many things.

“Do you know where he’d take them to?” Liam asked disdainfully.

“Given his style, I’m sure there’s nowhere else except that place,” Mateo guessed confidently. “Let’s go. Bring your men, and I’ll bring mine. Let’s save some people!”

Meanwhile, Flossie and Leia reached a deserted jetty in the dark after a car ride of roughly one to two hours.

“Get out of the car!” The driver shoved them out of the armored car fiercely.

Flossie and Leia were blindfolded during the entire ride. The blindfolds were only removed once they reached their destination.

“This is…” Flossie observed her surroundings. A large river with surging currents lay before her, with ships ported around haphazardly. A thought crossed her mind-she recognized this place.

“Do you know where we are, Flossie? Why did they bring us here?” Leia asked Flossie curiously. Although she was usually fearless, she was still scared.

“This is the infamous Rain River in The Triangle, a place with no rules or regulations,” Flossie said solemnly. She could tell what she and Leia were about to face since she knew where they were.

This place resembled Water Dock-full of sins, where human lives were trifled with. In other words, it was a piece of cake for them to get killed here. These perpetrators wouldn’t be punished, either.

It seemed their kidnappers this time were utterly ruthless.

However, Flossie was confused. She wasn’t close with the fort residents, but there were no grudges between her and them either. She wondered who hated her and Leia so much to take such a ruthless step.

“A place without any rules and regulations? What do they want? Who did we offend? They didn’t have to take us here!” Leia said, alarmed.

Leia swallowed and leaned close to Flossie.

She was as confused as Flossie and wondered why they would get into so much trouble when she just wanted to visit Liam. Yet, everyone in the fort was out to get her and Flossie killed. It felt like a dangerous adventure-there wasn’t a single moment of respite!

“I don’t know, either,” Flossie said, “but I’m guessing it has something to do with the past and the recent events. They’ve long held a grudge against us.”

When Flossie was trying to earn her living, she offended quite a lot of people since she was young and bold.

Their enemies right now loomed over them aggressively, as if harboring intense hatred against them. Perhaps it was a long-held grudge. Flossie couldn’t imagine anything else.

“What should we do?” Leia asked softly.

Since they were kidnapped and surrounded by armed guards, they were at their enemies’ mercy. They had no idea the direction they came from.

“I don’t know. Let’s act accordingly,” Flossie said, sighing.

She had lost all energy and the means to escape. All she could do now was act naturally and resolve anything that came their way. She should at least try to figure out who wanted to get them killed.

The guard who dragged them there shoved Flossie hard and urged her to walk toward one of the ships. “Get in! The boss is waiting for you! Behave yourself!*

Both Flossie and Leia did as told and hurried to the ship.

Flossie could see a tall, sturdy man standing on the deck of a ship with lights on from afar. He was facing away from them while watching the surging currents, pondering something.

The guard approached him, bowing, and said respectfully, “Boss, they’re here.”

“Mm.” The man nodded without turning around immediately. He was still deep in thought.

Being a headstrong woman, Leia immediately screamed at him without thinking. “Hey, who are you? We’re not your enemies! Why did you have to go this far? We can just talk it out!”

“Shut up! You can’t be rude to him!” The guard was about to beat Leia up, but the man waved and stopped him.

Flossie found this strange man difficult and ruthless. Those who kept their feelings hidden were as unpredictable and dangerous as the surging currents.

“May I know how to address you?” she asked the man politely.

However, the man remained quiet. After a while, he slowly turned and looked at them coldly.

“Who’s Flossie here?” he asked hoarsely, his eyes gleaming icily.

Flossie observed him. He was a rough and tanned man, like a typical local. A deep and winding scar ran across the corner of his drooping eye, looking particularly ferocious. His calm expression rendered his thoughts unreadable. Everything about him was mysterious.

“Me,” Flossie admitted without any hesitation. She couldn’t recall having anything to do with this man. ‘Is there any grudge between us?”

The man observed Flossie carefully, his gaze complicated and unreadable. He remained silent for quite a long time.

Terrified by his stare, Flossie wrapped her clothes tighter around herself. “If I’ve offended you in the past, I’ll apologize to you here. Tell me how I’ve offended you. I think we can figure out a solution. I’m sure I can do it.”

“A solution?” the man snorted, his lips a sneer. “Do you think the clead can come back to life? If you think that’s possible, we can figure out a solution.”

“Does our grudge involve the dead?” Flossie asked.

No matter how much she racked her brains, she couldn’t for the life of her figure out when she had met this man. She recalled accepting a mission when she was young and reckless, when she needed to kill a drug lord in Southeast Aeos.

As an internationally top-ranked assassin, she hated murder the most. That, and she rarely got involved in such missions.

If her younger self had willingly accepted that kind of mission, however, then her enemy must be vile and heinous. She was just seeking justice for others and doing the right thing.

Flossie wondered if the drug lord she tried to kill that year was part of this man’s grudge. If she wasn’t mistaken, the drug lord had been short and bald, and didn’t resemble the man before her in the slightest. Perhaps this man wasn’t the drug lord’s relative.

“I don’t have anything against you. It’s your man I have a problem with. He had the love of my life killed, so I’m giving him a taste of his medicine. I don’t think that’s over the line.”
