Filed To Story: Goddess's Design His Fated Mate (Willow & Reuben)
I took a step back in shock, shaking my head. “That’s impossible. I know you are lying to me.”
“My words will be proven correct when the Elder or someone else comes out of the packhouse and announces our wedding date,”
she remarked confidently, happiness evident in her eyes.
Tears threatened to appear in my eyes but I controlled them, “Reuben will not marry you. He has Wyatt and Lori. He loves them. I am his soulmate .”
She interrupted me. “You were his soulmate that day too when he brought another woman into the pack six years ago, right? She was his choice over you at that time. Now I am, though he does not want to admit it to you,”
she declared.
Her words pierced me like icy shards, freezing me in shock.
“Don’t misunderstand, Willow. I didn’t come between you and Reuben,”
Ella said, her voice cutting through the air. “Because Reuben never wanted to hold your hand. You can be his soulmate, you can be the mother of his children, but you can never be his Luna. If he wanted you, he would have never hidden you from the world. If he wanted you, he would have broken the marriage contract with me the moment you returned, but he never did. Do you know why? He wants his Alpha position, and I, as an Alpha’s daughter, can help him achieve it. Not an Omega like you,”
she declared, closing the distance between us until we were face to face.
“I can warm my fiancé’s bed just like you do, so he doesn’t need a mistress like you, Willow,”
she sneered.
Her words left me speechless, the weight of her accusation crushing my spirit.
“All this time, I’ve respected our friendship and withheld the truth out of kindness,”
Ella said, her voice dripping with disdain. “But now I’ve had enough. He’s keeping you by his side for his wolf, but we’re about to become chosen mates. Don’t worry about your mate bond with Reuben. As soon as we mark each other at the wedding, your bond with him will be broken anyway.”
With that, Ella turned and walked away, leaving me stunned and shattered by her words.
I stood there in shocked heartbreak, unable to comprehend what I had just heard. Reuben signed the marriage contract first? He had the power to break it, but had chosen not to? He brought that Alpha’s daughter and had chosen her over me? The promises of love and devotion he made to me just days ago, were they all just a facade to satisfy his wolf’s desires?
Facing the packhouse, I remained motionless, refusing to let my tears overwhelm me. I couldn’t believe Ella’s words. She was lying, trying to drive a wedge between Reuben and me. I knew deep down that Reuben couldn’t betray me again. He couldn’t
“Alpha Reuben and Alpha Ella’s wedding date is set for this full moon!”
A warrior burst out of the packhouse, announcing jubilantly before darting off to join the festivities of the Thanksgiving party. “The pack is getting a Luna. The Alpha is getting his Luna!”
The entire pack erupted in excited cheers as I collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down my cheeks uncontrollably. How could Reuben do this?
He was going to marry Ella. Then what was I to him? A mistress, like Ella said? Once again, he chose another woman and position over me.
He betrayed me once more. I covered my mouth with my hand and sobbed inconsolably.
“Mommy,”
Wyatt and Lori called out to me.
I lifted my head to see both of my children standing before me, their eyes brimming with tears at the sight of my distress. I pulled them close to my chest, and cried in silence.
Did I truly deserve this? Was it my punishment for falling in love?
“Mommy,”
Wyatt and Lori hugged me tightly.
For their sake, I composed myself, wiping away my tears, and got up from the ground.
“Let’s go,”
I said, taking their hands and leading them back to our car.
“Mommy, where are we going?”
Lori asked.
I touched the necklace around my neck, recalling Reuben’s confession of love in the room. Tears gathered in my eyes again, shattering my heart into countless pieces. I removed the necklace and dropped it on the ground as I walked.
I refused to be his plaything, whore, or mistress. I refused to be with him for his wolf.
After putting my children in the back seat, I drove my car out of the Emerald Bright Pack without looking back.
“Why is her phone switched off?”
Walter murmured to himself, frustration mounting as he repeatedly dialed Willow’s number. For the past fifteen minutes, he had been searching all over the pack territory, but neither she nor the children were anywhere to be found. He had only returned this time to bid her a proper goodbye, yet she had vanished without a trace.
Continuing his search, Walter soon found himself re-entering the Thanksgiving party, despite his disdain for being among werewolves. His concern for Willow outweighed any discomfort as he scanned the gathering in hopes of locating her.
However, amidst the festivities Walter noticed an unusual level of excitement among the pack members. They were discussing something fervently, but he hadn’t paid much attention until a key phrase caught his ears.
“Alpha Reuben and Alpha Ella’s wedding date is set for this coming full moon!”
Those words struck Walter like a bolt of lightning, causing him to pause abruptly. His mind went blank for a couple of seconds as he processed the unexpected news.
“Reuben is going to marry Ella? But what about Willow?”
Walter’s mind raced with confused anger.
Clenching his fists in fury, he muttered angrily to himself, “Reuben betrayed Willow! All of his claims turned out to be lies, he chose another woman over Willow.”
Walter had accepted the fact that Willow loved Reuben, but this betrayal was too much to bear. His blood boiled with rage as his hand instinctively reached into his jacket to grab a silver dagger. However, before he could follow through on his actions a deafening roar shattered the party, freezing everyone in their tracks.
“What the heck is going on, who is spreading these rumors?!”
Bix entered the party, glaring at the people.
A dead silence fell over the party, and everyone, except Walter, lowered their heads.
“Gamma Bix, no one is spreading rumors,”
a man stepped forward. “The Alpha’s wedding date to Ella has been announced. They are marrying on this full moon.”
Bix was stunned for a second before he demanded, “Who said that?”
Everyone started to look around for the man who had come out of the packhouse with the news, but no one could find him. Then the man spoke again. “An Elder from the royal family has arrived with an imperial decree containing this news.”
“Imperial decree?”
Bix frowned at the seriousness of the matter, “Which Elder?”
