Filed to story: A Second Chance with My Billionaire Love
“No, I’m not!” Liam raised his hand to swear. “Trust me. They’re just best friends. They’re not in that kind of messy relationship. Both of them have a guy they’re madly in love with.”
“I see.”
Amber watched how Flossie and Leia fooled around intimately with each other in the cell. They looked like they were about to kiss!
She shook her head and said, “What a pity! They look so lovey-dovey, better than many novels I read about where the women love each other.”
“You’re hopeless!” It was rare for Liam to see such a straightforward and cute side of Amber. Amused, he poked her forehead and sighed. “Stop reading those messy novels! It’s harmful.” Their actions were loud and finally attracted Flossie’s attention in the cell.
“Liam!” Flossie, pressed to the chair by Leia, couldn’t escape. Finally, she grabbed a chance to leap up and walk to the door.
Well… It wasn’t a door. Rather, they were iron bars preventing them from escaping.
The decoration and facilities in the room weren’t bad. Besides, Flossie and Lela were well-fed. It made them feel like they were staying in a cheap hotel. But their freedom was limited. which might have upset them greatly.
Liam felt sorry to see them in such a state. His sadness and anger turned his eyes red.
“I’m sorry I’m late. You guys must have suffered.” He grabbed the iron bars, his tone solemn. He even sobbed.
“You’re exaggerating! Lei and I enjoyed ourselves. We took a nap. When we woke up, we enjoyed a great feast. Now we’re playing cards and fooling around. I feel very relaxed. Don’t make this sound so serious,” Flossie said casually to Liam.
She wasn’t purposely trying to comfort him. Honestly, she did feel relaxed; she didn’t need to think about anything else. She just needed to enjoy the time with her best friend, so she wasn’t at all reluctant or upset.
The more Flossie dwelled on it, the more she realized that she had recently experienced quite a lot of incidents that exhausted her mind and body. Finally, she got a chance to stop and rest here. She enjoyed it very much.
Leia ran to the iron bars, grinning. “Yeah, Liam! We’re not miserable. See, Flossie and I aren’t the kind of people who’ll suffer. Just do what you should do boldly. We don’t want to be your burden. When we’ve rested well, it’ll be a piece of cake for us to leave.”
They didn’t behave like they were being bullied or locked up, aggrieved. Instead, they acted like they were there for a trip.
“Can you tell me what happened? Why did you guys get in trouble with Luneth’s son for no reason?” Liam asked curiously.
He could only figure out how to get them out of there once he learned about the ins and outs of the conflict.
“What happened isn’t important. Can’t you tell they’re trying to use us to control you?”
Flossie laughed helplessly, then told Liam the details of the incident.
“In short,” she added, “don’t be tricked. Then, they won’t be able to do anything to you. Lei and I will be safe.
Liam was no fool. He immediately understood the profound meaning behind Flossie’s words and stopped saying too much.
‘Fine, be good. You guys are just taking a rest. I’ll handle this well. Wait for my news.”
He knew very well that the conclusion would be the same regardless if Flossie and Leia had offended Luneth’s son or the child of an ordinary villager. Mateo simply wanted to use that method to control him.
The only way to solve this was to defeat Mateo. However, based on the current situation, Mateo had a lot of followers in the fort. It would be difficult for Liam to defeat him.
Luckily, Liam wasn’t an easy target either. He had been winning people over these days. That, and he was close with Benjamin’s other foster sons. If both parties were to get into a fight, he still had a chance to win.
After confirming that Flossie and Leia were fine, Liam left the cell. Mateo was waiting outside, grinning triumphantly.
He sneered sarcastically, “What do you think? I was telling the truth. Aren’t they fine and well-fed? I told the guards to give them anything they wanted. We’re treating them like guests. Since we’re friends, how are you going to thank me?”
“Yeah, I should thank you, Liam sneered, suppressing his desire to beat Mateo up. “What do you say about getting a drink tonight?”
Mateo agreed readily, snapping his fingers. “That’s just what I want.”
Amber sighed in relief when she saw them get along well. Then, she whispered, “I’m glad to see you guys make peace. We can always talk it out. I’ll plead with Aunt Luneth. We can’t let this get to Dad and Uncle Macsen. We’ll take care of this ourselves.”
“Well, we’ll have to see how Liam behaves,” Mateo said profoundly. “I hope to resolve this privately. It’ll be troublesome if Master or Macsen learns about this. I won’t be able to help even if I want to. You’re aware of their tempers and what they can do.”
“Yes, I’m aware. We must keep this a secret. We can’t let this be known!” Amber nodded seriously.
Macsen doted on his son, and Benjamin valued his nephew. If his nephew was hurt, anyone involved would be punished. Since his nephew’s head was injured, the consequences were imaginable.
Hence, the most important thing was to pacify Luneth and secretly let Flossie and Leia go. Only then can the problem be solved in silence.
‘Don’t worry! No one dares to say a word about this affair without my order.” Mateo patted his chest. He was suddenly acting like he was on their side.
“If not, Liam wouldn’t have found them even after looking for them the whole afternoon. Don’t worry about my authority,” he said brightly and righteously.
Amber regained her confidence in Mateo, and said gratefully, “I knew it-you’re the most reliable and loyal person I’ve ever met. If it weren’t for you today, Dad would have learned about this. Then, it’ll be all over!”
After that, Amber looked at Liam, who kept silent the whole time. She tried to make Liam say something nice.
“See, Liam? I told you, Matt’s a great guy. He was just joking with us in the orchard to scare us. I’m sure he’ll take our sides and protect us. Don’t worry.”
“Is that so?” Liam glanced at Mateo and faked a smile. “Well, I should thank him properly.”
The air between them grew awkward, but Liam didn’t care. He wanted to make Mateo uneasy and force the latter to expose his true self.
Amber was simple, but Liam was no fool. Mateo’s acting was smooth, but he couldn’t trick Liam.
Moreover, Mateo was the one who came up with that scheme. He wouldn’t let anyone expose it-he wanted to be the one to do it.
“Okay, aren’t we going to get a drink? Let’s go. I’ll make the chef cook us something nice.” Mateo enthusiastically held Liam’s shoulders and dragged him forward. At that moment, he turned icy. “If you’re a man, stop involving Gern if you want to fight against me. Stop showing off while using her as a shield!’
*I never want to involve her. I just want her to know what kind of a guy you are.” Liam smiled, his tone fierce. “Do you think you can successfully take my place after I cancel my marriage with her? Dream on! I won’t give you the chance to hurt her. Stop using her marriage as a tool for your future.”
Mateo’s facade finally crumbled, and he clenched his fist as he held Liam’s shoulders. He gnashed his teeth and hissed, “I genuinely like her. We’re childhood sweethearts. And you… Didn’t you agree to marry her because you wanted to use her as a tool for your future too?”
“Yeah, so I came to my senses and realized what a bastard I was!” Liam said solemnly, regret lacing his tone. “A woman’s marriage can’t be taken lightly, let alone involve so many interests and profits. You want to manipulate her-I won’t let you get away with it.”
“Humph! You can’t even protect yourself now. How could you meddle in my business?” Mateo stopped pretending and added cunningly, “You have two choices. You can either save your favorite woman and sister, or Amber. Of course, you probably can’t save either!”
“Humph!” Liam was livid. Once again, he was shocked by Mateo’s character.
He replied provocatively, “Then, I’ll give you two choices too. You can either kill yourself or let me kill y pissed me off, so that’s the only ending for you.”
you. You’ve
*Kid, you need to see what you have. You can’t just say what you want to say. I’ve got so many means in my bag. What can you do except boast?” Mateo chuckled, punching Liam’s shoulders as if they were close.
Amber smiled as she watched them from behind, gratified. Their bond was nice. She cared about them very much, so she was pleased to see them getting along well.
“Okay, I’ll leave you and see Luneth for a chat,” she said.
Amber didn’t follow them. She waved at them with peace of mind and decided to pacify Luneth first.
Luneth was staying in the southeast of the fort. Her house was a uniquely styled traditional cottage. Upon arriving, Amber could hear a woman crying from afar. Many servants, doctors, and women were standing in front of Luneth’s room.
Amber walked toward Luneth’s servant Jayna Bowie, and asked carefully, “Hello, is Aunt Luneth around?”
“Ms. Jenkins, come another day. Mrs. Klein is crying sadly now. She’s furious. I’m afraid you might be harmed if you go in,” Jayna advised kindly.
