I walked toward my mate who had her eyes fixed on the line ahead, not bothering to say a word.

I didn’t comment as I studied her expression before nodding at the person who was standing behind her, silently letting her know that I was with her, and she nodded.

I wrapped my arms around Scarlett from behind and k*issed her cheek, letting my l*ips linger there for a few seconds before pulling away to rest my chin on her shoulder. “The last thing that I ever want to see is for you to be upset, my beautiful Scarlett.” I said, my voice above a whisper as I spoke. She tensed but didn’t say a word for a few seconds, and I knew that she was still thinking of what the bastard told her.

Carter was a man who knew how to hurt someone by using his words. It was something that I hated about the man, but that wasn’t something that I wanted to think of dealing with right now. I had my mate who was upset, and the last thing that I wanted was to see her as sad as she was. The woman deserved more than what she was dealing with, and that was something that I wanted to prove to her.

“Alexander, I am not upset…”

“Now, now, I do believe that as your husband, I should be able to tell when you are and when you’re not.” I said, stopping her. She sighed and I smiled before pulling her out of the line. I had another place that I wanted to take her to, and considering the fact that the bastard just screwed her mood, I figured that this was going to be a better solution to making her smile.

“Where are we going?” Scarlett asked, and I smirked before pecking her cheek. She purred in response, and I intertwined my hand with hers, pulling her toward one of the restaurants who smiled when they saw us approaching. “Hello, sir, ma’am, how may we help you?” The manager asked, looking at the two of us. Scarlett frowned in confusion but didn’t say a word as I pulled her closer to me. “Table for two please, my wife is a new bride and I would like to make a special day for her.” I said, and the manager smiled and nodded. Scarlett’s eyes widened in surprise as the two of us walked inside. The two of us looked at the art that was situated there and at the people who were fancily dressed. They looked at the two of us, considering the fact that we were wearing casual clothes, and most were wearing fancy dresses despite the restaurant being at a mall. However, I didn’t really care. This night was going to be about my wife, and I was going to make sure to spoil her as much as I can after what she has gone through today.

“Alexander, what are you doing?” She asked, looking at me as I pulled her chair out, watching as she sat down. I k*issed the crown of her head, letting my l*ips linger there for a few seconds before pulling away and resting my chin on her shoulder. The pain that I felt after what I heard from Carter was one that I couldn’t describe. The fact that my own family played a dirty game on me was something that I wouldn’t have thought of if I saw it with my own eyes. And seeing as my own mother played me, now that was something that broke me beyond explanation. I was just holding strong for my wife’s sake, knowing that this was something that would affect her as well right now.

“I promised you that I would prove to you that you are my world, Scar.” I whispered to her before k*issing her cheek. “And this is going to be the beginning of me doing so.”

I wrapped my arm around my wife as the two of us entered the house.

I frowned in confusion when I saw Anastasia down in the living room, alongside the pack members, in one of the women’s arms.

They all looked at us, and Scarlett shook her head in question before the woman smiled and handed her our daughter. Scarlett looked at Anastasia for a second and smiled when our daughter giggled. “We figured to take her out of the room for a bit. I know that doing so without your permission is wrong, but we didn’t want her spending the whole day alongside maids or nurses,” the woman who was holding her in her arms said. “In our pack, we would all be taking care of the pack’s children. It didn’t matter who the mother was, as long as the children were safe within the pack, we wouldn’t mind taking care of them”

“It’s kind of you to consider us as part of the pack, but you didn’t have to tire yourselves…”

“It was not tiring at all. If anything, your little one is beautiful and very sweet.” Another woman said, smiling at Scarlett whose cheeks reddened before she k*issed Anastasia’s forehead. I knew that she was also checking on her temperature while doing so. It was a habit that we had, k*issing the forehead was often used to check whether the forehead was hot or not, indicating a forming or an existing fever.

“You are very kind, thank you.” Scarlett said politely.

“Alpha Vladimir told us that you might be spending a long while along our side, and we figured to start treating you like family. That is of course, if you would accept to be treated as so. Please don’t get us the wrong way, but we tend to be loud and we enjoy being who we are.” A young man said. The man couldn’t be older than eighteen or nineteen, but he smiled as he looked at me and nodded in respect. “You know, having two Alphas in one pack can often create issues, but you and Alpha Vladimir seem to be getting along nicely. And we figured we wanted to get to know you guys, you know, have you join us a little more.”

The man didn’t understand that his Alpha and I were not getting along at all. If anything, we were lucky to have not beheaded one another so far.

But then again, it wasn’t something that I was going to be able to explain to him, especially not when everyone seemed to be happy and comfortable with our presence here within the pack.

“Yes, as long as they are willing to stay here, we are more than willing to accept them within the pack.” Vladimir said, crossing his arms over his c*hest. “As for the two of us being Alphas in one territory, the two of us are friends, and I am sure that I can learn a lot from Alexander and he from me. The two of us have known one another for a long while to know how to deal with one another when it comes to territories, and that is something that I doubt either one of us wants to change. Or am I wrong, Alpha?”
