The other people in the room dared not say anything. After all, Hadwin Stephenson was emitting an intimidating aura, which stopped people from approaching him. How could they ask him anything?
When it was nine, Lina suddenly got up and put away the small stool she was sitting on. Then… Hadwin Stephenson’s eyes suddenly narrowed. ‘Is she leaving?
‘Is she only persisting until nine?’Hadwin Stephenson was filled with a feeling of loss and irritability that even he could not explain the stored intently at the screen. Moments later, he suddenly got up and said to the person beside him, “Bring this woman inside”
“Huh?” His subordinate froze.
Is Mr. Stephenson… going to see this woman?
Lina packed up everything and was about to book a taxi to pick her up with her phone when the security guard at the gate stopped her.
“Miss, Mr. Stephenson wants to see you. You can go in now.” The security guard’s voice and expression were far more respectful now.
Lina froze slightly. Then, surprise and joy flashed across her face. ‘Hadwin wants to see me? I can finally talk to him and beg for his forgiveness.
‘But… will he ever forgive me?’
She once again thought of Hadwin Stephenson’s reaction at Stephenson Group’s entrance. She quickly shook her head and told herself not to overthink. What mattered most now was that… she could see him!
Lina entered the Stephenson family’s mansion, and a maid led her into the living room.
The vast hall was magnificent but somehow gave off a chill.
Hadwin Stephenson was standing in the middle of the living room with his handsome face full of indifference.
“Everyone, get out. No one can come in without my permission,” Hadwin Stephenson ordered coldly.
All the maids who were in the room went out.
Suddenly, only Lina and Hadwin Stephenson were left in the large room.
Lina stared at Hadwin Stephenson almost greedily. She did not have time to take a good look at him when they were outside Stephenson Group earlier.
“What’s the matter? Am I that good-looking that you can’t look away?” Hadwin Stephenson’s voice broke the silence.
“Yes. Yes, you’re very good-looking,” Lina could not help blurting out.
Hadwin Stephenson’s brows instantly furrowed. “Lina, I didn’t had let you in to hear you talk nonsense. Didn’t you say you something to say to me? Okay, go ahead. I’ll listen!”
He said as he walked over to the couch nearby and sat down nonchalantly. He gracefully crossed his legs. The way he looked at her made her feel as if she was facing the presiding judge of a court.
Lina’s mind went blank at that moment.
“If you have nothing to say, then leave at once and never appear before me again!” said Hadwin Stephenson. As long as she did not appear, he would not be upset.
Lina said almost subconsciously, “Hadwin, I love you. I really do!” She did not want to leave! She had so much more to say!
“You love me?” He sneered, and his eyes turned colder. “Lina, how dare you say these three words? If you love me, you wouldn’t have said that you want nothing to do with me and even abort the baby when I tried so hard to keep you by my side. Lina, if you love me, how could you not give me a chance?”
His questions made her heart ache. “I… I do love you. I… I know I was selfish. I was so selfish because I didn’t want to get hurt. But Hadwin, you’re the only one I’ve ever loved all these years. You’re the only one! I misunderstood you. It’s my fault!”
Lina rushed up to Hadwin Stephenson and said with a sore nose, “I know you only agreed to Katherine Jackson’s conditions and chose to break up with me to save me. Five years later, you protected me from Katherine Jackson again, and you even had a blood curse on you. Because of the blood curse, you were in excruciating pain every time you touched me. You even let Katherine Jackson enter your mansion to get rid of the blood curse…”
However, Hadwin Stephenson was listening indifferently. His expression did not change at all. It was as if her sobs and remorse were meaningless to him.
“Is that so? So you know.” In the end, all she got was such an indifferent response.
Lina bit her lip. “I went to the mansion to tell you that we could start over that day. But when I saw Katherine Jackson leave your mansion, I thought you and her… I didn’t know it was because of the blood curse. I
misunderstood!”
Hadwin Stephenson murmured, “Yes, you misunderstood. But if you misunderstand things so easily, that means you don’t have much trust in me, doesn’t it?”
Lina froze.
The sarcasm in Hadwin Stephenson’s face intensified. “So how can you say you love me?”
After a pause, Hadwin Stephenson said, “What now? You found out you misunderstood me, so you came to look for me again? But Lina, you should’ve known that I wouldn’t be waiting for you and still foolishly remain in love with you just because you’re now willing to come back to me. My love for you died when you tried to have an abortion in the hospital.”
Lina’s tears immediately came pouring out. “I… I didn’t abort the baby. Hadwin, I didn’t… The baby is still in my belly. The baby is still here… I… I eat well and sleep well so that the baby can grow well…”
As she spoke, she took his hand and pressed it against her belly.
She was now four months pregnant, but her baby bump was unnoticeable. Even so, one could feel the slight bump by pressing one’s hand against it.
Hadwin Stephenson’s hand pressed on Lina’s belly. Time ticked by, and her tears ran down her cheeks, dripping onto his wrist. He instantly jerked his hand back as if her tears had burned it.
“That’s enough, Lina. So what even if you didn’t abort the child?” He suddenly got up. “I’ve never cared about the baby!”
She was all he cared about!
He was utterly disappointed because she wanted to abort the baby just to have nothing to do with him. He realized she could even sacrifice a life just to cut off ties with him.
He realized he had taken her words back then to heart, but it was only a joke.
At that time, she had said to him, “Hadwin, if we do get pregnant, I want to give birth to the child because they’re ours. They’re my treasure.”
However, it turned out this treasure could be abandoned at any time! It was not even what she wanted!
“I know you didn’t abort the baby, but so what? What do you expect by suddenly coming here and telling me you love me? Do you want me to be with you and give the baby a complete family? Do you think I, Hadwin Stephenson, is just something a child needs?” asked Hadwin Stephenson.
Lina quickly said, “No, I… I want to be with you, but not for the baby! It’s because I love you, so I don’t want to lose you. I…”
“Lina, you’ve already lost me!” Hadwin Stephenson coldly withdrew his hand, Lina instantly felt her hands become empty, and her belly lost the warmth of his palm.
