Flossie quickly fished her gun out and aimed it at that man. “What do you want? Leave me alone, or I’ll start shooting!”

‘Hey, this prey comes with a gun! That’s a good thing!” However, the man wasn’t afraid of Flossie’s gun. On the contrary, he acted like he had seen a treasure and rushed toward her.

“Don’t come!” Flossie screamed.

However, that man wasn’t afraid and kept marching forward.

Flossie fired a bullet at that man’s feet. The loud gunshot kept them away.

“Hey, it’s a real gun. Snatch it!’

When they realized what was going on, their eyes brightened. They frantically rushed toward Flossie.

Suddenly, Flossie had no idea who she should aim the gun at. “Leave me alone! I’ll fire the gun at your heads this time!’

Unfortunately, they were fearless. Besides, Flossie’s gun had only one bullet. When she tried firing the gun again, she only managed to make a click.

The people broke into a roar of laughter. She was a laughingstock.

Flossie was already exhausted. To top it off, her foot was injured. There were too many of them, and she was too weak to resist.

She was soon tied up again. They tied her limbs onto a long pole, and some people carried her at the front and the rear. It made her feel like she was truly prey-it was humiliating.

“Damn it!” A helpless sigh escaped Flossie.

Too weak to struggle, she wondered why she was so unlucky. She hoped Leia had escaped. Then, she might be able to survive.

They carried Flossie to their tribe in the dark while singing a war song.

There were thatched cottages with many human or animal skulls hanging at the front. The women had thick and heavy ivory bone locks on their mouths. It seemed they were prohibited from speaking casually. It was clear that they were inferior compared to the men.

A campfire had been lit at the center, while a group of people danced merrily around the fire. Nearby, someone was bowing while sharpening a knife using a sharpening stone.

Flossie was carried there. By this point, she had come up with her last words.

‘Damn it!” she thought ‘I’ve thought of the many ways I might die, but I never expected barbarians catching me like prey and sharing me among them!’

“Hey, why don’t you reconsider this? Human flesh isn’t tasty at all! Plus, it comes with prions. If you eat me, your whole tribe will be infected and killed! I’ll give you money and let you have roast lamb instead. That’ll taste much better!

As they were about to burn her over a fire, Flossie thought of the roast lamb. Fear gripped her as she kept screaming and struggling.

However, these people didn’t understand her language. Even if they did, they wouldn’t listen to her. On the contrary, her fear would excite them more.

Soon they tied her up over the fire. The great fire burned her, filling her with immense pain.

“He’s going to cut her soon!” People danced merrily at the man who was sharpening the knife.

Finally, the man finished sharpening the knife. The sharp blade shone, and the man’s eyes gleamed wickedly as he was about to cut Flossie’s throat.

“Oh, I’m doomed!” Flossie cried, closing her eyes.

Scenes flashed before her eyes as she recalled her chaotic and messy life. She felt fine even if she was to be killed there and then. Even so, she couldn’t bear to leave her children.

“Adie, Abby, you must be good! I’ve wronged you. I’ll be your mother again in my next life!”

At that critical moment, she heard various gunshots. When she opened her eyes, she saw that the man with the knife had been shot in the back of his head. He fell to the ground, motionless.

The other men were shot too. All of them fell to the ground.

Flossie tried her best to turn around; she saw people in camouflage outfits from the direction the gunshots came from. They were armed, and quickly surrounded the area.

Liam and Leia rushed over, rescuing Flossie from the fire.

“Flossie, are you okay? Does it hurt a lot? Your skin’s red from being burned!” Leia couldn’t stop crying when she saw how miserable Flossie looked. “It’s all my fault! I shouldn’t have left you alone. If only I had come earlier. You wouldn’t have suffered so much!”

Flossie didn’t have much energy left in her. She grabbed Leia and said, “Stop crying. You guys came in time. If you were late, I’d be roasted.”

Then she looked at Liam, who was right by Leia’s side. From what she remembered, he was an immature man who always followed her.

But now, he was different. His skin was tanner, and his gaze looked firmer. He appeared firm and steady-he had grown into a mature man.

“You aren’t being a good friend. You didn’t inform me about your wedding. You even stopped Lei from telling me.

You don’t want to tell me even if you have kids, do you?” Flossie asked.

Liam pursed his lips, silent. He frowned and touched her flushed arms gently. “It hurts a lot, doesn’t it?”

“Isn’t that obvious? Try and see how much it hurts if you’re being roasted over the fire for more than ten minutes,” Flossie replied.

“I’m sorry I got here late.” Liam took a deep breath, filled with guilt. He blamed himself.

Without any hesitation, he carried Flossie and left the tribal area quickly.

“Mr. Osborne, what should I do about these people?” a dignified-looking man asked Liam softly as the latter walked away quickly. He should be the leader of the team.

“Catch them and get rid of them. And… burn down this tribe!” Liam instructed solemnly.

Flossie found it unacceptable. “Get rid of them? How are you going to do that? Is it what I’m thinking of? And this tribe isn’t small. There are old people and kids. What should they do if you burn this tribe down?”

“They nearly roasted and ate you. I’ve already gone easy on them since I didn’t roast them.” Liam looked solemn and serious. He didn’t find his actions outrageous at all.

‘They roasted me because it was the norm for them. They weren’t taught by the society, but you want to exterminate them. It’s too cruel!” she argued.

“No, it’s not. It’s a crime. It was you today, and it might be someone else tomorrow. The superiors wanted to handle this, but failed. I’ll take it upon myself to eliminate their worries forever!” Liam said aloofly, his face fierce.

Although they had only been apart for a short while, Flossie realized that he was now a totally different person. The past loyal friend of hers had turned out to be a horrible stranger.

Agitated, Flossie grabbed Liam’s wrist and tried to persuade him. “Liam, I know you’re angry and want justice for me. You can beat them up and teach them a lesson, but you don’t have to exterminate their tribe.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Liam didn’t promise Flossie anything. Instead, he quickly carried her to the car ahead.

“Liam!* Amber, Benjamin’s daughter as well as Liam’s fiancee, got out of another car. She asked gently, “Ms. Ellsworth, are you okay?”

“Her body was burned, and her foot was clamped by a beast trap.” Liam wore a poker face as he placed Flossie tenderly in the backseat of the car.

“Hi, Gem. It’s been a long while,” Flossie said.

Her foot was hurt, so she couldn’t move around much. She was at Liam’s mercy. As she leaned against the backseat, she tilted her head and greeted Amber, who came to see her.

Flossie still remembered Amber. Amber was very kind, and it was all because of her that Flossie could escape from Benjamin. Had Amber not stood up against her brutal father, Flossie might have never escaped.

“Liam, take that car. I’ll sit with Ms. Ellsworth. I like her a lot, and I’ve always wanted to see her. I’ve got a lot of things to say to her!” Amber said.

Leia was already sitting on Flossie’s right. Liam wanted to sit on Flossie’s left, but Amber drove him away.
