Finally, she failed to hold back the truth from Flossie.

“Actually, he texted me a few days ago and told me that he’s going to marry the daughter of the master. I was shocked. He never wanted to get married. I was worried he might be forced into it by the barbaric master, but he said he wasn’t. He even invited me to his wedding.”

“He’s going to get married?!” Flossie’s eyes widened. Although it was unexpected, it made sense.

Still, it came as a surprise because Liam had always claimed that he was single. Now, he was willing to get married. It was strange.

Then again, it was reasonable Liam had sacrificed his freedom to help Flossie and Joanne leave. Sooner or later, he would be forced to get married.

For an unknown reason, Flossie was sad. She felt that Liam’s sudden marriage was not what he wanted. He must be forced to consent.

Flossie, are you unhappy?’ Leia asked.

She could feel the change in Flossie’s mood.

She said carefully, ‘Liam asked me not to tell you about this because he’s afraid you’d get upset. But I think you should know because you’re very important to him.”

“I’m not upset. I’m just a little worried,” Flossie said seriously. “I’m happy he’s getting mamied and is embracing happiness boldly. I’m just worried he might be forced into it.”

“That won’t be.” Leia waved Flossie’s concerns away, and added candidly, “Don’t you know my brother? He’s smart. If he doesn’t want to get married, no one can force him.”

Flossie was still worried. “Why did he ask you to keep it from me, then? You don’t understand the situation there. It’s very dangerous. Those people are barbaric! They trifle with people’s lives. I doubt they’re not forcing Liam’s hand.

“No, it isn’t dangerous at all,” Lela said. “From the videos he sent me, it’s rather comfortable. I guess he didn’t want me to tell you because he was worried you might feel disappointed.”

She pursed her lips.

You might be unhappy if I say this. After all.. he’s your top fallback guy. Now that he’s going to marry someone else, aren’t you disappointed?”

Although Leia and Flossie were best friends, Leia had her own opinions regarding Flossie’s romantic life. She found Flossie too stubborn and stupid for having loved an awful man after so many years.

On the other hand, Liam was even more foolish. While Flossie kept obsessing about Halston, Liam remained by her side and was attentive to her every need. He even helped bring them together. Just looking at the way he acted made Leia anxious.

“It’s been so many years. I’m sure you know how Liam felt about you. For a while, I wasn’t happy with you. I felt that..” Leia paused, then added sharply, “You were stringing him along.”

“I never thought of doing that!” Flossie defended herself. Though she felt wronged, she could understand Leia’s accusation.

Before, Halston kept ignoring her for a long time. Through all that, Liam stayed by her side like a bright sun that encouraged and warmed her. He helped her settle many of her problems. Gradually, Flossie got used to his sacrifices. She would subconsciously let Liam handle all her failures in romance or trouble in her business, regardless of how big or small the issue was. From their actions, they seemed very close. Yet after so many years, she never expressed any affection for him.

It made Flossie look like a bitch.

“I know, but Liam was stubborn. He thinks that as long as he kept protecting you, you’d finally realize how good he was one day.” Leia said.

Leia sighed and shook her head. Her complaints were all correct.

“In the end, you trampled all over him and got even more madly in love with Halston.

“It’s all my fault… I should have kept some distance from him,” Flossie murmured.

She realized that in regards to the relationship between men and women, she was no better than a scumbag like Halston. Essentially, neither were pure nor innocent.

Flossie did manipulate Liam. During the many nights Halston ignored her, she would call Liam for drinks. She had no sense of propriety or self-awareness.

“I brought this up not to criticize you,” Leia said, “but to make you understand why he wanted to keep his upcoming marriage from you. It doesn’t matter if you’re disappointed or not, but Liam thinks that you’ll be disappointed. He cares so much about you. I’m sure he doesn’t want you to be unhappy because of him.”

Leia looked at Flossie as she spoke her mind.

Both she and Liam were loyal to Flossie. Naturally, the siblings wouldn’t blame her. They just didn’t want to see her unhappy.

“Hey, it’s nothing big. You guys are overthinking. Am I that weak? Flossie smiled helplessly. “I won’t be disappointed by your brother’s marriage. Heck, I’m happy for him. I’m just worried that he might be forced. If he is, I can’t see him make such a stupid mistake. This is serious business,” Flossie said solemnly.

“I guess he’s willing. He smiled so happily in the photos he sent me!” Leia glanced at Flossie carefully. “So, you’re not disappointed? If it were me, I’d be a little sad to see my loyal backup guy marry someone else.”

Leia had never been a hypocrite, and she never saw herself as someone righteous or amazing. She had some flaws such as possessiveness and selfishness, but she was open with it. She had no reservations about confessing her flaws.

“Don’t worry, I’m not unhappy. Maybe I wasn’t sensible or prudent enough, but my feelings for Liam are honorable. I see him as my younger brother. Since my brother is going to get married, of course I’ll happily give him my blessings.”

Flossie was feeling quite helpless because she had no idea how she should explain herself.

“I see..” Leia looked disappointed. “If Liam hears this, I guess he’ll be disappointed and unhappy.”

“Then he shouldn’t get married,” Flossie said, hitting the nail on the head.

“He’ll still feel that way. You can’t be easily replaced. Maybe no one will ever replace you for him. As his sister, I’m sure of it.” Leia said.

She didn’t blame Flossie, but she found it unacceptable for her loyal brother.

On second thought, nothing could be done. The relationships in the world were closely linked together. It was hard to find two people who were mutually in love with each other. There was no fairness.

Besides, no one could change that just by working hard. It depended on their destiny.

When is his wedding? I wonder if it’s appropriate for me to attend,” Flossie said. She wanted to attend the wedding to give Liam her blessings, and to affirm whether he was willing to get married. Only then could she relieve her worries.

“Of course you can go!” Leia sputtered, though she looked like she was put in a spot.

Liam had stressed that she should never let Flossie learn about his wedding.

Unfortunately, Leia had a slip of the tongue. To make it worse, Flossie even said that she wanted to attend Liam’s wedding.

If he saw her then, he would be furious with Lela!

“His wedding will be held at the end of this month in their fort. My parents will object to it because he’ll be a live-in son-in-law, so he didn’t tell them. Plus, he didn’t want me there. But I pleaded with him, so he finally yielded.” Leia told Flossie about the ins and outs of the entire affair.

The Osbornes weren’t considered one of the best families in Beach City, but it was at least one of The Great Eight of Beach City. Although they weren’t the top powerful people, their wealth couldn’t be disputed.

If people learned that the Osbornes most beloved sixth son abandoned the vast family fortune to become a live-in son-in-law in a remote place like The Triangle, the family would become a laughing stock.

Hence, Liam never told his family about his true whereabouts. He just asked them to not worry about him since he was merely leading a wandering life.

“Flossie, you must keep this a secret if you want to go. My dad is old. I’m afraid the news might get him killed if he learns about it.”

“Don’t worry! I won’t tell anyone about this. I’ll just tell them that I’m going on a holiday. The secret safe between us,” Flossie promised solemnly

A week later, Flossie and Leia flew to Goldshire without anyone’s knowledge.

Coldshire was a primitive, old, remote city full of speeding motorbikes and leering men. Beautiful Acos women like Flossie and Leia were very eye-catching there. It was easy to predict the kind of obstacles they would face.

A slim, tanned man in an old-fashioned T-shirt blocked them casually while smoking. “Hey gorgeous, are you here for a trip or business? I’m a local. I can accompany you!”

At that time, both Flossie and Leia had just gotten off the plane. They were waiting for their luggage at the baggage carousel. The other passengers who rode in the same plane were either men, families, or foreigners. Flossie and Leia were the best candidates to accost.

“No, thank you. I’ve been here before, and I’m quite familiar with this place.” Flossie waved, not wanting to have much to do with the man.

Although she was good at fighting, it was hard to fight a local tyrant. She wouldn’t make a big scene if she could help it.
