(Scarlett)
“I can see that the two of you have managed to make up.” Alpha Vladimir said, looking at Alexander and I.
Alexander kept his arm wrapped around my shoulder, pulling me to his c*hest, growing more protective than he normally was.
I couldn’t blame him.
If the Alpha has taken his territory, who knew how much he was after. It was something that scared me more than I could admit, but I was f*orced to stay quiet for my husband’s sake.
Anastasia was upstairs, asleep in her crib. But I knew that hiding upstairs was not going to do me any good. If anything, I knew that I needed to get out of the room to set some records straight, and regardless of the situation. I knew that things were going to be taking a complete different turn now. If anything, the two of us were going to have to put the Alpha in place, and that was something that I was mostly dreading, especially when I knew that this was HIS territory, and that he would always have the upper hand.
“The two of us were not fighting to begin with.” I said, looking at my husband. “Minor arguments are not considered as fights between mates.”
“I see.” Alpha Vladimir said, looking me in the eye as I turned to face him. The Alpha was yet to be aware of who he was challenging, but that was something that was going to change. If anything, both Alexander and I needed to show him that we were not to be taken advantage of simply because he thought that we were currently weak. Maybe we were, but that still didn’t give him any right over us. “The two of us are going out for a bit, and we were wondering if there was anything that you wanted us to get you?” Alexander asked, looking at Vladimir. “We need to get a few things for Nasia, and shopping for my wife…”
“If there is anything that the two of you need, we can…”
“I would rather I go and choose my things myself, thank you, Alpha.” I said, stopping Vladimir who raised an eyebrow at me. The Russian didn’t understand the change in demeanor, but he could tell that I wasn’t being as friendly as I was earlier. If anything, I wasn’t giving him the chance to actually try and speak to me. Plus, the last thing that I needed was for Alexander to be annoyed by him. At this point, the two of us had a lot to deal with, and I knew that Alexander still wanted to make up for our earlier argument.
“I see,” he said, studying my expression.
“Anastasia would be staying here though. I do hope that you don’t mind…”
“The maids are assigned to take care of her, and would be doing their jobs accordingly.” He said, stopping me. “You don’t need to worry about that part.”
“Thank you, Alpha. It is very kind of you to offer.” I said, and he nodded. Alexander nodded at the Alpha before the two of us walked toward the door. His eyes met mine and I couldn’t help but worry as the two of us left the house.
My heart raced, and Alexander frowned in confusion as I put my hand on my stomach, avoiding his eyes. “Are you okay?”
“Yes, I am just a little worried.” I said, and he frowned in confusion. The two of us had the bad habit of fighting and arguing whenever we left the house. It was the main reason why I hated going out with him in the past, and that was something that even he knew. If anything, I knew that it was something that even he didn’t like. “Do you want t tell me what’s it about?” He asked, and I shook my head, not knowing how to open up about it. I was scared that I would annoy or upset him about my doubts, especially when I knew that this was going to be the first time the two of us have any time for ourselves as a husband and wife since we got married.
Our wedding was not only rocky, but it was scary to me. The man and I were supposed to be enjoying our days as a husband and wife, and instead, we were finding ourselves amidst a conflict that neither one of us knew to understand.
“I don’t want us to get into another fight like we always do when we go out, Alexander.” I said, choosing to be honest. “I want this day to be one that the two of us actually remember as a husband and wife.
I know that we have been through a lot, but the last thing that I want is to see that our marriage is going to start as rocky as our relationship has when I first gave birth.”
The two of us were walking out of the mansion as I spoke, and Alexander frowned, making my heart drop. He didn’t say a word to respond to me for a few seconds, and that fact alone was scarier to me. Mostly because I knew that his silence was never good. If anything, It only meant that he was more annoyed than he would let out, and that was something that I didn’t want to think of.
However, he surprised me when he cupped my cheeks and gently pulled me closer to him before leaning in and connecting his l*ips with mine. My heart swelled, and I couldn’t help but smile into the k*iss, seeing a positive change in his stance.
He pulled away to rest his forehead against mine, taking a deep breath as he studied my expression. “Our rocky relationship is why I am so f*ucking in love with you right now, Scarlett.” He said, his tone softening. “I saw a warrior and a beauty who would fight for what she saw as right. I saw someone who I knew to love and appreciate, and you, my beauty, are someone that I never want to lose.”
I couldn’t help but feel my heart skip a beat before I leaned in to k*iss him. He smiled into the k*iss before I pulled away as he wrapped his arm around me, pulling me toward a cab. “You are my one family, Scar. That is something that I never want you to forget…”
