“I’m yours,” I whispered. “Only yours. Don’t ever doubt that. Blake means nothing to me, my love. I just wanted the drama to end. I wanted all the curious eyes to go back to what they were doing. I didn’t mean it when I said I forgive him. I only said that so he’d leave us alone.”
“I get it,” he murmured into my hair. “But you have to promise me one thing.”
I pulled back just enough to look at him. “What?”
“Next time someone tries to invade your space, emotionally or physically, you don’t forgive. You don’t explain. You tell me. And I’ll handle it. In my way.”
“Of course,” I replied. “I’ve always come to you. Why are you worried that I won’t?”
“I don’t know,” he replied, taking a deep breath. “I just didn’t like you claiming that you forgive him. And I despise the way he looks at you.”
I planted a kiss to his forehead. “I don’t like it either. But you know what I like?”
“What?”
“You.” I grinned.
A smile finally found its way onto his lips, and I chuckled.
Zane ruffled my hair, then kissed my cheek. “Silly girl.”
“I love you, Zane.”
“I love you too, Lia. You should go inside now. I’ll see you at night.”
“Okay,” I said. “Bye.”
-LIA’S POV-
I was in the forest again.
I frowned, looking around in confusion.
How did I get here? Zane was with me last night. He’d slept beside me, his arms wrapped around my waist. How did I manage to leave the house and get here?
It didn’t make sense.
I glanced down at my body, feeling relieved that my clothes were on. At least I wasn’t naked this time.
But if I didn’t turn into anything, how did I get to the forest?
A loud howl echoed in the air, making me flinch and turn around. I was in a clearing now, a large field that stretched for miles. The sky was clear too, except it wasn’t one of its usual shades. It wasn’t blue or grey. Instead, it looked red.
More howls broke out, now coming from all around me. My eyes widened as I looked right and left, my heart pounding with fear.
The ground where I stood began to move, rising up from the rest of the field, turning into a kind of a dais.
I fell to my knees, placing my hands down, not wanting to fall.
Below me, werewolves approached from all directions, surrounding the platform I was on. There were all kinds of them, with various coloured coats, sizes and types. Each of them. stared at me, unblinking, as if they were trying to look into my soul.
But somehow, I realised I didn’t feel afraid anymore. I didn’t feel any threat from them.
Their tails began to wag, and their faces turned upwards, towards the sky.
I followed suit, glancing up.
The moon was completely red, like a splodge of blood in the sky.
The wolves began to howl, all of them at once, sending shivers through me.
I stood up on the platform, glancing down, observing how their eyes had gone black.
And yet still, I didn’t feel any fear. Any threat.
Their howls silenced eventually, and they all glanced at me once again, before slowly lowering their heads to the ground.
My mouth fell open in shock.
They were… bowing to me.
Why? Why would they bow down to me?
I was nobody.
I wasn’t even a werewolf. What was going on?
“Lia?”
My eyes shot open. I realised I was in bed, having a dream.
My gaze met Zane’s. “Hey,” I said, blinking.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his eyebrows pulling together.
“Yes,” I replied. “Why?”
“You were saying something in your sleep.”
“Oh.” My eyes widened. “What was it?’
“I think you know,” he replied.
A chill spread through me. “I-I don’t.”
Zane changed our positions, so that he was straddling me. “You were begging me to take you, Lia. You were saying, ‘Zane, please, kiss me. Make me yours. Do whatever you want to me!””
I narrowed my eyes, as an amused smile took over my lips.
“You idiot,” I scolded, slapping his chest.
“What?” He still continued. “Lia, if you want me so bad, you can just say it and I will deliver. My love, you don’t need to hide your lustful desires within dreams. I know you want this.” He gestured towards his body.
“You wish, Zane Adams,” I replied with a cocky smile. “You’re the one who dreams about me. You’re just projecting, I know.”
Zane’s expression changed, and he leaned in with a smirk. “Actually, you are right. I dreamt about you tonight. You wanna hear about it?”
I smiled, amused. “I don’t know, do I?”
“I think so, I think you will really like what I did to you.”
“Mhm? Go on, tell me.”
“So we were in this same position. I was on top of you, and I was holding your hands like this,” he took my wrists and slowly pushed them above my head, his moves deliberate, “with only one of my hands.”
My heart gave a flutter, and my stomach twisted with excitement. Instinctively, I began to squirm, trying to get my no wrists free from his hold. But of course, I had no chance. When human boys were so strong, werewolves had no match.
“This is exactly how you were making your attempts to free yourself, but failing,” he whispered, leaning in to my ear.
Heat rose to my cheeks. “What then?”
“Then, I did this.” He pressed his lips to the side of my neck, making me gasp.
“Zane,” I cried, struggling harder against his hold. “Don’t mark me.”
“I won’t,” he murmured against my skin, tickling my neck.
I giggled, squeezing my eyes shut.
He slowly moved downwards, to my collarbone, and then stopped. “You wanna know what I did next?”
“I’m not sure I want to,” I squeaked out.
Zane laughed, lightly smacking my head with his free hand. “You’re no fun.”
“Hey,” I scowled. “Don’t hit me.”
He raised a brow, mischief filling his eyes. “And what if I do?” He smacked my head again.
“Stop it.” I glared.
He did it again, laughing.
“Zane, last warning.”
And he did it again.
