*MELIAN POV*
Today is the day!! My mates and I will finally be able to take it easy. I’m kidding, it’s actually our baby boy’s ceremony. He will not only become the Alpha of Blood Moon, but he will marry his mate, and she will become not only his wife, but his Luna. I have fallen in love with Riley. I can’t wait to see what their future holds, and how they take this pack in a new, updated direction. He has such amazing ideas, and with the right guidance he will bring them to fruition. I have been helping Riley get ready, and checking on the preparations. I need to go and check on the girls and River to make sure they are moving along and getting ready, and I had best stop in our room to check on my mates. I laid their tuxedos on the bed beside my dress, and I hope that they were able to dress themselves. I can’t do it all. Loki was watching the game, he had just had his shower, and Liam was currently in the shower. I gave him strict instructions to make sure Maddix was ready in 45 minutes and in the ceremonial hall. He saluted me and said, “Aye cappin’. Will do!” and then started to laugh. I shook my head at him and shut the door.
The girls were next in line. Adelina was in the shower, and it wouldn’t take her long to get ready. Asteria was already dressed and ready. She was lounging in her room reading a book. I peeked into Alette’s room, and she wasn’t in there. Her dress still hung in her closet, and from the looks of it she hadn’t been in there all day. I took my phone out of my bag, and dialed her number. Straight to voicemail. I went back to Asteria’s room and asked if she had seen her sister. She informed me that she hadn’t been home since right after breakfast. That she had to go into town to “pick up some things.” What the hell could she need from town, and why would she leave without telling us? I was fuming.
I dialed her number again, but this time I left a message. “Alette Lily!! You stop whatever the hell you are doing, and get your little ass back to this pack house right now! Today is an important day for this family and your brother! It is not a day for you to fuck off! Get back here NOW!” It wasn’t 10 minutes later, and she came running into her bedroom. “Where the hell have you been, Alette?” I questioned. My anger was at the top level, and if she was smart, she wouldn’t add fuel to the fire. “Sorry mom, I was at Jamie’s house. I borrowed a pair of shoes for tonight,” she explained. I narrowed my eyes at her and replied, “Jamie’s, huh? So if I call Margo and ask if you were there, she will confirm your story. That you have been there since after breakfast?’ Her face dropped and she huffed at me. “Why am I always under scrutiny mom? Everyone always acts like I am up to no good, and that’s just not true. If you absolutely have to know everything, I went over to Jackson’s first. I broke everything off with him, because it’s obvious we aren’t mates. I then went over to Phoenix’s house to talk to him. If you don’t believe me, you can call him. Then I went to Jamie’s and just grabbed the shoes and left. Then, as you were leaving me the message, I was walking through the pack house door.” she explained. She was upset because I was angry, but she knows that she has to let us know when she leaves the pack house. It has been that way since she was able to leave on her own. She doesn’t understand that her safety is always the most important thing.
After the Alette drama, I went back to Riley’s room. She was in her gown, and her hair and makeup were perfect. She looked like a beautiful doll. Her dress fit her like a glove, and the jewels I had loaned her matched perfectly. I called Liam and asked if they were ready. We only had 20 minutes before the ceremony started. He said they were ready and Maddix was already downstairs with George, Henry and Phoenix. They were getting my grandma and the rest of the family situated. Jason was in the room with Liam and Loki helping them get ready, and Rebecca had just come into Riley’s room.
She immediately started crying at how beautiful she looked. Ever since Trinity’s wedding announcement, Rebecca has been an emotional wreck. Her oldest was marrying and moving out of the house, Joel was about to graduate high school, and their youngest, Mallory, was about to enter high school. We told her they should adopt another one, but she said what she had on her plate was plenty. She said she would just wait for her grandbabies.
I let everyone know that it was time to head down, and I could feel Riley’s nerves get riled up. I told her to relax because this would be one of the best days of her life, and to enjoy it. She and I walked hand in hand to the bottom of the stairwell, and at the bottom stood my son. He was tall and handsome. His blond hair was slicked back, and it showed off his chiseled features. His piercing blue eyes never left Riley as she descended the stairs. “Hi,” she whispered, and he reached out for her hand. “Hi,” he smiled back and kissed her hand. It warmed my soul to witness this. He may look almost spot on his bio dad, but his soul was much purer. “Ready?” I asked him. He nodded his head, and he followed his fathers and me into the ceremony hall with Riley on his arm.
New Alpha of Blood Moon
*Loki POV*
Today is going to be awesome! First, the Oregon Ducks play the Beavers and I know my ducks are going to kick ass. Second, my boy takes over as Alpha. It’s a bittersweet moment, but he is an amazing young man, and is going to do great things for Blood Moon. I just know it. His mate, Riley, will be the first Luna to not have a wolf. Maddix had approached me about whether he should turn her into a wolf, but Liam and I both suggested that if it didn’t bother him, to let her make that decision. He said he loved her how she was, and if she never wanted to become a wolf, it was fine with him. She has a lot of traits that Mel has, and that put my worries at ease.
Our brother-in law, Jason, has joined us in our task of getting ourselves ready, and before long, Mel is telling us to get our butts downstairs. We got to the foyer, and Maddix was there wearing a path in the marble with his pacing. “Calm down son, you are going to rock this Alpha thing.” I reassured him. Phoenix, George and Henry laughed at my comment, because they had been trying to calm him for a while now. “Thanks dad, just nervous. I want things to go smoothly tonight, and I just hope I don’t stammer my words.” he replied. It was then that I knew his biggest worry.
When Maddix was younger, when he was super nervous or scared, he would stutter his words. He eventually outgrew that for the most part, but when he is really on edge, it sometimes comes back. I told him to just remember to breathe, and keep his eyes on Iris, his family, and most of all, Riley. He hugged me tight, and I had to fight back the tears. I didn’t expect to be so full of emotions, but Maddix had always held a special place in my heart. He was our first. He was our first blessing at a time when he needed us just as much as we needed him. I know we will still see him regularly, but it will be in a different light. He will be officially a leader, a husband, an Alpha.
Mel informed us it was time to go in, and me and Liam led our mate inside. Phoenix, led Adelina and Alette inside. While River had his sister Asteria and his grandma Gretchen in his arms. Maddix and Riley followed behind us all, and they took their seats next to the stage. Liam, Melian and I took the stage and called attention to the ceremony to start. Liam had a brilliant speech prepared, he was always best with words when it came to pack business. Melian stood in between us, and had also had a prepared speech to welcome Riley. Once everyone was seated and paying attention, Liam started his speech.
“Thank you everyone for joining us for this joyous occasion. Tonight, my brother, Loki and I step down as your Alphas and transfer that title to our son, Maddix. As most of you remember, Maddix came to us a long time ago, during the same time we found our mate. The circumstances weren’t the best, but the goddess had a plan. He was destined to be ours, just as he was destined to be your Alpha. I have complete faith in our son, as do his mate, Riley. Together with their Beta, George Gonzalez and Gamma, Henry Gonzalez, they will bring the Blood Moon pack into the future. Maddix, please come forward,” Liam spoke. Maddix stood and walked towards us. Mel stepped out from in between us, and allowed us to perform the Alpha vow portion of the ceremony. Iris came forward and bound our hands together. She smiled at the three of us and started to speak. “Not only is this an honor, but an overwhelming pleasure for me to be asked to perform the exchange of power ceremony for the three of you. Alphas Liam and Loki, I performed your vow ceremony when it was time for you to take over, and watched you both rebuild this pack to its current glory. With the help of your current Luna, Melian, this pack has expanded and grown beyond what your parents could have ever imagined. Maddix, I have watched you grow from a wee boy to the brilliant young man standing before me today. I have no doubt in my heart that you will do great things here in Blood Moon.
The members of the pack have been and will continue to be blessed to have the Young family continue on as Alpha. Now, Maddix, please repeat after me. I, Maddix Young, promise to honor and protect my family and pack members of the Blood Moon pack. I will always put the needs of my pack and family before my own, and will fight until the death to assure that no harm will befall them. I will rule with a fair, but stern hand, and will never unjustly come to conclusions without the full truth. I will maintain Blood Moon to the best of my abilities, and if I find myself faltering, I will do whatever it takes to keep the pack at the standard it deserves. On my honor, by my word, I will honor my pack to the best of my abilities and beyond.” Maddix took a deep breath, and repeated her words. He stammered a bit, but she graciously helped him through.
Pride swelled in my chest, and it was our turn. “Alphas Liam and Loki, I know this is a proud moment for you. Are you ready to hand over power and title to your son Maddix and make him the current reigning Alpha?” she asked. “We are,” we answered in unison. She picked up the ceremonial athame from the table, and exposed our palms through the wrapping. She slit Liam and I’s palms, and we dripped blood droplets into the Alpha goblet. She then turned to Maddix and asked if he was ready to receive the power and title of Alpha, and he said that he was. She repeated the actions that she had just done with us, and placed his blood also into the goblet. Pouring just enough of the blessed wine into the goblet, she raised it above us and said a prayer. She handed the goblet to Maddix, and had him drink. As he drank the mixture, we could feel the power shift from us to him.
It must have been powerful because it caused him to stumble backwards a few steps. Placing the goblet back onto the table, Iris raised our bound hands above our heads. “Prestigious members of the Blood Moon pack, It is my honor and pleasure to introduce you to you, Alpha Maddix Young.” The crowd started to whoop and holler and welcome their new alpha. I looked over towards our mate, his mother, and she was weeping. Tears of joy and pride streamed down her face. After Iris removed the wrap from our bound hands, our son, the new alpha, jumped into our arms. Our boy was so overwhelmed with nerves that he needed his old dads. We held him close, and he whispered into our ears, “Thank you for trusting me, thank you for always being my dads.”
