She still remembered how worried her parents were when they told her this story after she recovered. If it had not been for Grace, she might have died!

Hadwin Stephenson instantly turned pale. “Don’t you… believe me?”

Lina asked, “How do you expect me to believe you? You keep saying you love me and you want to marry me, that you’ve rever loved Katherine Jackson. But why can she still enter your mansion if you’ve broken up with her? It’s been happening frequently too. Hadwin Stephenson, is this how you love someone? You’re a liar!”

Hadwin Stephenson frowned. “It’s not what you think. She came to my mansion because-”

“What do you mean it’s not what I think? No one told me about this. I saw it with my own eyes. I saw her go into your mansion last night and leave this morning.” Lina laughed bitterly and said, “Are you still going to tell me you have nothing to do with her? Are you going to say that although she stayed in your mansion the entire night, nothing happened between you two?”

“What if I say yes? I have nothing to do with her. She did spend the night at the mansion, but nothing happened between us! Lina, don’t you believe me?” he said.

However, her answer disappointed him.

“How am I supposed to believe you? Hadwin Stephenson, do you think I’m gullible? When we were dating, you told me we would never break up. I believed you, but then you broke up with me! Now, you want me to believe you again. You want me to believe that you and Katherine Jackson have nothing to do with each other and that you broke up with me so I could live?

What a shame that I won’t believe a word of it!”

He suddenly staggered and put one hand on the edge of her bed as if he had no energy left to remain standing.

“Am I so unworthy of your trust?” he murmured. He looked at her with eyes that seemed to be filled with great pain.

The pain was so overwhelming that Lina’s heart instantly clenched.

Even though she had planned to cut ties with this man in front of him, there was no way to stop the pain.

‘Ignore it. It’s just my illusion. Even if he does have a bit of love for me, it doesn’t matter anymore. It’s the end of him and me. Everything ends here. I don’t want to be fooled by him again. and again!’

“I won’t believe a word you say.” She heard her own voice say.

“Really?” His lashes quivered slightly as his cold fingertips slid gently across her lips. “Are you sure you won’t regret getting rid of our baby and having nothing to do with me?”

She felt as if her lips had gone cold. His cool fingertips seemed to freeze her blood. “I won’t regret it.”

‘Yeah, I won’t regret it. She had already made up her mind when she was in the emergency room being examined by the doctor.

The baby seemed to be cooperating with her since their heartbeat was too faint, as if they wanted to leave as well. Even if she did not have an abortion, the baby would probably leave her in a few days anyway!

Hadwin Stephenson stared at Lina. Then, he slowly withdrew her hand and closed his eyes.

“Okay, since you won’t regret it, then… I won’t regret it either,” he muttered, slowly straightening up as he finished his words.

He moved slowly as if he was using all his strength to try and stand upright.

He slowly opened his eyes and looked condescendingly at the woman on the hospital bed. The overwhelming pain in his dark eyes had disappeared and turned into indifference. “Well then, do as you wish, Lina. It’s okay if you don’t want this baby. From now on, I have nothing to do with you.”

With that said, Hadwin Stephenson turned and left the ward.

Lina stared blankly at Hadwin Stephenson’s leaving figure. Her tears finally fell from her eyes when she could no longer see him.

Why did her heart hurt? This was what she wanted! He reall had nothing to do with her now!

The final look he gave her showed her that he meant what he said, and he would keep his word!

However, she was not happy at all. She felt as if a piece of her heart had been taken away. It made her so upset that she could not stop her tears no matter what…

Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney hurried to Municipal Women’s Hospital after receiving a phone call from their daughter, only to see her lying on the hospital bed with a drip attached to her hand.

“What happened? Why are you in the hospital all of a sudden? Is there something wrong with the baby?” Mrs. Sweeney asked in a panic.

After all, Municipal Women’s Hospital was the best in tMason Swansonty. They had many renowned specialists.

“I’ll be staying in the hospital for a few days to prevent a miscarriage. I accidentally got into a car accident this morning. The baby in my belly isn’t doing so well,” said Lina.

“What? A car accident?” Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney were surprised, “My dear, the car accident happened this morning. Why did you just call us?” After all, it was already past four o’clock.

Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney were immediately concerned about their daughter’s injuries. They were relieved to learn that the car had just hit a tree and she only received bruises from the impact of the collision.

“How is the baby doing? “asked Mrs. Sweeney.

“Not so good. The baby’s heartbeat is very weak, I might have a miscarriage at any time. The doctor has asked me to stay in the hospital for observation for three days and take progesterone shots,” said Lina. Her other hand, which was not attached to the drip, remained on her belly the whole time.

After Hadwin Stephenson left, she had asked the doctor to arrange for an abortion for her.

However, she could not sign the surgical consent form when the nurse gave it to her. Tears had poured out of her eyes, wetting the surgical consent form.

In the end, she did not sign the form but transferred to Municipal Women’s Hospital and asked the doctor to save her baby.

Maybe this was how it felt to be a mother. Even though her reason told her that aborting the baby was for the best, she still could not bear to kill the little life inside of her.

Unless the baby decided to leave, she would take care of them as long as they stayed in her belly!

“Your baby is at risk. Ask Hadwin Stephenson to come over. Didn’t he say that he wants to take responsibility for the child?” said Mr. Sweeney.

“Dad, Hadwin Stephenson and I are over. He won’t see me anymore. This baby is mine alone. I will take care of them. myself!” said Lina.

Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney were shocked once more.

“Is he refusing to take responsibility again? Is he behaving like how he used to back then? I’ll get him-” snapped Mr. Sweeney.

“No!” Lina stopped her father and said, “Dad, I’m the one who doesn’t want to be with him! I don’t need him to take responsibility for the baby. The child is mine alone!”

Mr. Sweeney and Mrs. Sweeney were surprised. They glanced at each other. Finally, Mrs. Sweeney said, “Do you want to give birth to the baby and raise them alone?”

The hand Lina put on her belly faltered slightly. “If I can keep the baby, then I want to raise them alone.”

“But…” Mrs. Sweeney looked troubled. After all, if her daughter had a child out of wedlock, it would probably be difficult for her daughter to find someone to marry if she had a child with her.

She thought her daughter would get back together with Hadwin Stephenson, but who would have expected things to turn out like this?

“Are you still hung up on what happened in the past?” asked Mrs. Sweeney.

Lina knew her mother had misunderstood, but she did not correct her and said, “Mom, Hadwin Stephenson and I have never belonged together. It’s better to end things now than to stay together for the baby. I’m sorry, people might gossip about me when the time comes.”

“My dear. We’re already old. We’re not afraid of gossip. We just want you to live a good life,” Mrs. Sweeney said with red eyes.

Having a baby out of wedlock meant her daughter would be walking on a difficult path in the future.

Lina’s nose felt sore. Her parents had been worried sick about her, and she could not do anything to make it up to them.

Looking at his daughter, Mr. Sweeney said sternly, “If you can keep the baby, are you sure you won’t regret giving birth to them? Raising a baby is unlike raising a pet. Life is going to be tough.”

Lina took a deep breath. “I’ve made up my mind. I won’t regret it. As long as the baby lets me be their mommy, I won’t give up on them.”

“Okay. Then give birth to the baby. We can afford to raise a child, can’t we?” said Mr. Sweeney. Since his daughter had made such a decision, as her father, he would take good care of her and the unborn child!

Lina’s tears could not help pouring out again.

“My dear, don’t cry! Crying hurts the body, and it’ll be harder to prevent a miscarriage. Don’t cry. Don’t cry!” Mrs. Sweeney quickly wiped away her daughter’s tears.
