Mr. Sweeney walked up to his daughter, patted her on the shoulder, and said, “You don’t have to worry about your mother and me. If you want to have the baby, then have it. The baby is a member of the Sweeney family. Don’t worry about those rumors. If too many people are gossiping about us, we’ll just move. What’s there to be afraid of?”

“Yeah, Lina. You don’t have to worry about anything other than whether you want to have this baby and whether you want to be with… Hadwin Stephenson,” Mrs. Sweeney also came forward and said.

She knew her daughter still had feelings for Hadwin Stephenson, but she understood her concerns as well.

After hearing what her parents said, Lina suddenly hugged them and burst into tears.

Her worries, loss, frustrations, and pent-up emotions came bursting out.

Her parents would always stay by her side and have her back no matter what.

After crying her eyes out, Lina felt a lot better. Perhaps it was because she had been too afraid of how her parents would  react when they found out she was pregnant. She had wondered countless times if they would criticize her, be angry, or be disappointed.

Now, her parents’ reaction rea**ured her. She could come to a decision without any worries.

She had to think about whether she was keeping the child in her belly and what she was going to do with Hadwin Stephenson.

If she did not want to keep the baby, then the earlier she undergo abortion, the less damage it would cause her body.

However… if she did not keep this child, would she have another one in the future? For some reason, Lina seemed to have an inkling that maybe this child was the only child she would have in her life.

‘Also, what does Hadwin Stephenson mean by a week? Give him a week? Can all the troubles between us be gone after a week?

‘Will we be happy together?’

Lina could not help laughing bitterly at this though.

She continued working in the design office for the next few days, but her morning sickness from time to time still stirred up rumors in the office.

As a result, the director called her into his office and asked, “Lina, there are rumors about you being pregnant. I don’t want to pry into your private affairs, but there’s a project I was going to ask you to take charge of. After all, you’ve been here for so many years. But if you’re pregnant, you won’t be able to follow up with the project and will only slow down progress.”

Lina froze, suddenly understanding which project the director was talking about. It was a good project the design office had taken up recently. If she took charge of it, it would be something good to put on her resume.

“Think about it and let me know in a week whether you think you can take on this project,” the director said.

“Okay, got it,” said Lina.

She knew the director was hinting at her.

If she wanted to keep the child, she would have to reject taking the project. If she did not want the baby, she could take on the project and bring her career to the next level.

‘Choosing between career and the baby?’ Lina gave a wry smile.

Lina asked Grace out in the evening “You’re not asking me to drink with you again, are you? You can’t drink now that you’re pregnant, quipped Grace.

“I’ll drink plain water!” said Lina.

“What’s the matter? You seem worried. Are you worried about the baby?” asked Grace.

“How can I not be worried?” Lina smiled bitterly. “My parents have also found out about the baby. They said I can make my own decisions. Hadwin Stephenson said he’s willing to take responsibility and marry me. I’ve thought it through. Marrying him is the best way to go. Not only will it be the most graceful way, but the baby won’t be a bastard child as well. People will only envy me for marrying a rich husband. No one will laugh at me.”

“But you still can’t make up your mind, can you?” asked Grace. After all, her best friend still looked worried.

“Should I… get back together with Hadwin Stephenson?” asked Lina.

“What you should ask is whether you still love Hadwin Stephenson,” replied Grace.

‘Do I still love him?’ Lina pressed her lips together tightly. Maybe she would not be so upset if she did not love him. Maybe she could just lie on the operating table and have the abortion.

Although her best friend did not answer her, Grace could also guess the answer.

“I know Hadwin Stephenson hurt you very deeply in the past, so I’ll have your back no matter what choice you make. But I also hope that once you make a decision, you’ll ask yourself whether you’ll regret it in the future,” said Grace.

“He asked me to give him a week and said that he has something important to tell me. After counting the days, it’s been almost a week but he hasn’t come looking for me, let alone tell me anything important,” said Lina.

“If he hasn’t come to you, you can go and ask him. You used to like to make things clear and hated to drag things out,” said Grace.

“Yeah, I used to be like that!” Lina chuckled and picked up the gla** of water in front of her before drinking it all. “Okay, I’ll go look for him later and ask him!”

Looking at how resolute her best friend was at the moment, Grace thought the old Lina was back.

After having something to eat, Lina decided to go look for Hadwin Stephenson. Grace asked, “Do you want me to take you there?”

“No thanks. I drove here!” said Lina.

“You’re still driving?”

Lina said, “I know what I’m doing. I’ll stop driving when my belly gets bigger. You were pregnant with triplets then. I only have one baby, and there’s nothing much to watch out for. When I went to the hospital for my pregnancy check-up, I saw a woman riding an electric scooter with a pretty obvious baby bump!”

Grace had no idea whether to laugh or cry when she heard this.

After saying goodbye to Grace, Lina drove to Hadwin Stephenson’s mansion in Emerald City.

During the last pregnancy check-up, she learned that he was now in Emerald City and had been staying in the mansion.

She was familiar with the mansion, of course. She had even driven here countless times.

Looking at the time, it was almost eight at night. Hadwin Stephenson should have returned to the mansion by now.

She wanted to meet Hadwin Stephenson and tell him she wanted to take a chance! She wanted to marry him… and get back together with him.

She wondered if she would regret the decision.

However, she knew she would regret it if she did not do this!

The mansion was right in front of her. Lina parked her car at the side. She was about to get down when she suddenly saw another car pa**ing by her car and stopping at the mansion’s entrance.

The person who got out of the car was… Katherine Jackson!

Lina’s pupils immediately shrank. ‘What is Katherine Jackson. doing here at a time like this? Hasn’t she broken up with Hadwin Stephenson?’

She only saw the security guards at the mansion’s entrance respectfully stepping aside. One of them took the car keys Katherine Jackson handed over and helped her park her car, while the other opened the iron gate and let Katherine Jackson into the mansion.

Katherine Jackson did not even say anything to the two security guards. It was apparent that she visited often, so there was a tacit understanding between both parties.

Lina looked blankly at the scene before her. Her eyes were a little sore.

Almost in a daze, she got out of the car and walked toward the security guards, wondering why Katherine Jackson could enter the mansion and look as if she had done it many times. before.

‘Is there still something going on between Hadwin Stephenson and Katherine Jackson?’

Just then, the security guard who helped Katherine Jackson park her car came back. He could not help frowning after seeing Lina. He recognized her as the woman Mr. Stephenson had once brought to the mansion some time ago.

Therefore, the security guard rushed forward to stop Lina and said, “Oh, Mr. Stephenson isn’t seeing anyone tonight. Mr. Stephenson has told us that he won’t see anyone tonight, not even if something big has happened!”

‘He’s not seeing anyone?’ Lina’s heart trembled. “Why could Katherine Jackson go in just now?”
