“I cannot answer that for you, Sasha.”
“Goddess, I have had an amazing life with my husband. I know we wanted this baby, and if I go back, you might take the babe as payment. I don’t believe I would be able to go back without a cost, and the child is too precious to jeopardize that.”
“Your husband will be devastated you are gone.”
“He knows how much I love him, and I will watch over them both. I just hope…”
“What is it child?”
“Can you help him find another?”
“Another?”
“I don’t want my baby to be without a mother’s love. I don’t want my husband to be alone. My only hope is that he finds another to love, who will love him and my child as much as I do.”
“You wish your husband to find another love?”
“I want him to be happy. I want him to have a full and happy life. That man, my Hoff, has so much love to give. Being alone would wither his soul and I don’t want our child to grow up in that. If sharing him with another will save him from pain, then I will gladly do it. I want nothing more than love and happiness for him and our child.”
“Your daughter, you had a daughter.”
“We had a little girl…” Sasha covered her mouth. “We wanted a little girl. He knew that I didn’t have a father, so he wanted to be there for our little girl. Do you know what he named her?”
“He named her Rose Linea.”
Sasha nodded as she cried. “He used to call me his rose. Said that when I came into his life, it bloomed. Linea was my mother’s name.”
“He loves you very much and wanted your daughter to have that connection to you.”
“Please help him move on, gift him another love. Let them be happy. I will not rest well until I know that they have love in their lives again.”
“Only if you are sure.”
“That’s what love is, Goddess. When you truly love someone, you want them happy, even if it is not with you.”
“Rest Sasha, I will ensure that they are loved. Watch over them and lend them your love from beyond the veil. When they come here, you will all be rejoined.”
“That might be difficult.”
“No, there is always a way. Go down to rest, you will see.”
The pair faded, and another popped up. The Goddess was with a man this time.
“Geoff, what of your wife? Your kids?”
“Give them a bloke that will love them fully. If I cannot be there for my family, give them someone who can. Jonah, perhaps.”
“Your childhood friend?”
“He is the best man I know, and he has been so lost since he lost Beth and their child those years ago. He would come by everyday just to spend time with our brood. He’s never loved another. Nina deserves to be loved. Our kids need a father. If it can’t be me, I would wish it him.”
“As you wish Geoff, go rest, I will do my best to guide them. Watch over your brood. Beth is already down at the edge waiting for you.” Talon watched on as Geoff ran down to a woman and child down at the edge of the forest. They hugged, and Geoff laughed before they faded back into the forest below.
This continued for a while. Each person wished a new love for their family. Wished a friend, a brother, anyone who will love their family in their stead, as much if not more than they did. Talon watched time after time, until he grew frustrated.
“Why am I here?”
“I just wanted you to see what love, real love, means. They do not wish their loved ones to be lonely, unloved, and grieving.”
“And?”
“And, youngling, do you see your Chosen here?”
“No.”
“Exactly.”
