“Finally,” one of the guards called, causing everyone to look. Over the last sand dune was a group of soldiers. The ones in need of a demonstration, apparently. They came in at a slow pace and settled while one of them walked over to Donal with a pack.
He gestured to the ground in front of Araiya and then walked over. He kneeled and opened his pack and started to set up whatever he was doing while Araiya was twisted away.
“Look here, girl.” A soldier she had never seen stood in front of her. Araiya ignored the man as she shifted to look behind her. There was shuffling and a striking sound. “Whatever you’re about to endure, just remember, you can heal.” The soldier’s whisper made Araiya snap her head back to look at him. She raised a brow but kept her mouth shut. “Just remember. Nothing is worse than death and if you’re alive, you can heal.” Araiya slowly nodded her head before the soldier whispered a soft apology as he twisted her back as a scream ripped through the air.
There before her, a guard was cutting into a chained Korine. The screams that ripped through the clearing were guttural and broke Araiya’s heart. They were not close, but Korine had been her rock here and she did not want to watch her be tortured.
“Look at me!” Araiya screamed. “Look at me.” Korine opened her eyes and looked over at Araiya. “Keep your eyes on me.” The soldier cut into her chest again and she screamed, tears poured from her eyes, but she never looked away from Araiya. Araiya started pulling at the chains. She twisted and pulled over and over, trying to get closer to Korine.
“Please. Please. Stop,” Korine kept whispering over and over as the soldier continued. Araiya fought against the chains, and Korine just shook her head and kept whispering. Donal walked closer and crouched over Korine. Araiya pulled harder at the chains and got as close as she could to them.
“Do you enjoy watching this. You caused this.” Donal looked up at Araiya and patted Korine’s chest, causing her to scream more. Araiya bared her teeth and pulled at the chains again and felt a little give. “You still have some fight, good. Cut out her eye.” Korine started to panic and screaming as the soldier paused. He looked up at Donal and there was a tremble in his hand as he moved the knife closer to her face. “I said cut out her eye.” Donal kicked the soldier, who moved his knife closer to Korine’s face as she continued to scream.
Araiya refused to watch this happen, and she took a step back before wrapping her hands around the chain holding her and then started to pull. “Don’t you fucking touch her.” Araiya pulled harder and the chain gave away a little more. She turned back to Korine and saw the soldier about to cut, and Araiya screamed. But it wasn’t a scream, it was more like a growl, and everyone froze. “Get away from her now!” Smoke started to drift out of her nose, and Donal took a step back.
Araiya tugged harder at the chain, and it gave way and she rushed at Donal, who screamed at his men and ran.
Araiya threw the chain and wrapped it around Donal’s neck and yanked him back right as she was struck with a whip and ran through by a sword.
She pulled again, listening to Donal choke as she fell to her knees and coughed up some blood. Donal’s eyes turned black, and Araiya laughed even harder as she pulled once more, choking his Darkness as the world grew gray. Araiya slowly pulled the sword from her stomach, and she collapsed. She whispered a soft good bye to her mates as a rage filled yell reached her ears, before her world went black
Darkness had never been comforting to Araiya.
Bad things always happen when the night has fallen, but she woke to nothing. She lay, with her breathing laboured in the soft sands of the desert and waited for the next blow to fall. Was she alive, dead, had she passed beyond the veil, and this was now her after life? Araiya shuddered at that thought.
“Lamb?” Araiya straightened to that voice.
“River?” Hope was a bastard, but she couldn’t stop it. She needed him. At least to say goodbye. River and Mac rushed her again and kissed her. Mac waived and fire erupted in torches and a fire pit around the tent, causing Araiya to flinch at the brightness. She looked at her two mates and couldn’t stop the sob. This was probably the last time she was going to see them.
“Firebug? Where are you hurt?”
“It doesn’t matter. Just kiss me.” Araiya reached for her men and kissed them both. Each kiss a goodbye. She didn’t think she was going to get out of this one. The sword went straight through her, and unless they healed her right away, she would have bled out before reaching the healer.
So, she decided to say goodbye to the mates. The only way she could.
She jumped into River’s arms and wrapped her fingers into his short hair. She kissed him with everything she had. “Lamb…”
“No River, don’t stop, please.” But River needed to look at his mate, something was wrong. He felt the blood coming from her back.
Araiya growled in frustration and turned to Mac. “Please.” River softly nodded at Mac.
“Alright, Firebug.” Without hesitation Mac grabbed her and kissed her. Mac pulled her shirt from her body and Araiya raised her arms allowing it to come off. Mac laid on the ground closest to the fire with Araiya on top of him. He distracted her, while allowing River the ability to see if any damage was visible here.
River kneeled behind the pair and ran his hands over her back and shuddered when his fingers trailed over perfect skin that was pouring blood. The wounds didn’t come to the dream scape, but the blood did. He traced the bleeding and paled at how many wounds she had. She couldn’t survive this damage without being healed.
“River. Please.” Araiya looked over her shoulder with pleading eyes.
River shook his head and was about to get up, but Mac stopped him with his hand. The glow, like the time before, the power transfer, was active. River’s eyes widened as he slammed his lips to Araiya’s.? He had forgotten in a panic that while he could not access his power here, she could. He slammed his lips into her causing her to arch and moan, while he opened fully to allow her full access to his power.
Purple and blue fought over Araiya body as her mates kissed and licked. Healing and power flickered in her soul as she kissed them back, accepting anything they were giving. She needed them. Not their power, but them.
She arched again and brought River’s hands to her breasts. He cupped her as he kissed her neck as Mac reared to kiss her lips. She was on fire. She broke from the kiss with Mac and raised her hand to untuck her wrapping. Both men froze and she slowly unwrapped her breasts. She paused, and then dropped the fabric.
Both men watched the wrapping drop and reacted. Mac leaned in and wrapped his lips around one nipple and River leaned in and started to kiss her neck again, while he played with the other. Araiya moaned and pressed down onto Mac. River crowded in against her back and when Mac, who was still gripping her hips, pressed her down and back, gliding her against him, she also ground back into Rivers impressive length.
“Well, this is an interesting dream.”
“I don’t know why I am dreaming this.”
The three on the ground jumped at the sound of voices. The men jumped from the ground and stood in front of Araiya protecting her. The three waited for the owners of the voices to turn up. The curtains hung around the room shifted and in walked Talon and Terran.
“What the fuck is this?”
Mac snorted. “This is us, connecting with our mate. Where did you two come from?”
“We searched the volcano again after we put you guys in your room for the newest session of healing. We found all the other entrances were still blocked by fire and lava, so we came back to the rooms.”
