“Hmm, not to the enth degree no. But I have known Calvin since high school, and he was fine up until those women that resembled Marrin started coming out of the woodwork, pretending to be his loving wife that had been missing. All of them told him they had amnesia and had just recovered their true identity. None, however, knew that he and Marrin were divorced. Easy to determine they weren’t Marrin, just trying to catch a billionaire for themselves.”

Will explained Calvin’s obsession with women that looked like Marrin to them.

“Marilyn here, is actually his missing ex??ife, the woman that he loves, so that will give him closure about her, and see him settle. Relief will happen that he, or I, have finally found Marrin, and then, of course, the guilt over what he did and the knowledge of the twins will all come into play. Seeing him return to the Calvin, that Marrin once knew.”

“Again, you hope.”

Liam sighed.

“Yes, but it’s best to do this my way, rather than to let Calvin just turn up out of the blue and again risk his obsession kicking in. Right now, he’s of the opinion that Marilyn is Marrin’s twin sister due to there being no birthmark on her. This has also started to see him calm down and start to let his obsession go.

“I understand your injuries are what removed the birthmark, all the scarring and surgical procedures. He’ll understand that when I show him your hospital photos. He’s seen all your scars down your side and on your legs.

“But at this moment he still wants you, Marilyn, to be close to him, to bring Marrin to him. That is why he’s not already hunting you and dragging you back to Houston. But I also know him very well. He’s still going to want to come here or have you go there, so that he can explain to you what he wants, for you to contact

Marrin, and get her to come to him.

“He’ll likely be calm about it, given a few months to let his obsession go. This is as close as he’s ever gotten to finding Marrin, and he’s not going to risk losing that connection. I also think pre empting it might help.”

“Pre??mpting?”

Marilyn frowned at him now.

“Mm, a plan pre??rganised between you and I, your lawyer if you like. I need to figure out the actual best way to approach this. Something that will give Calvin what he wants in a round about way. I’m still not certain as to how it will be done yet.

“Although if you, yourself, Marilyn could see to the truth of things and find a way that could see this happen, I’d actually appreciate the help. You plot and plan in your books all the time. So, you might just be the one to come up with the perfect plan.

“One that will not only work for Calvin but suits yourself and the boys as well. Perhaps it will even be better than anything I can come up with, or between the two of us, we can come up with something together that will work for both you and Calvin.

“But something has to be done about all of this. The man is in a great deal of pain and I know you have no memories at all, but I can’t leave him like that, in agony and torment over Marrin. When I know, you were Marrin.”

He sighed heavily. It was again the truth.

“Technically, I don’t have to do anything. We’re divorced and have gone our separate ways,”

Marilyn told him with a shrug.

“Regardless of all this, the worst that can happen is what? Joint custody of the twins.”

“From a court’s point of view, yes,”

Wil nodded.

“You both have the means to raise and support the children.

But if Calvin lays eyes upon them before knowing everything, he’ll likely get angry, and just think you kept them away from him on purpose, are faking this amnesia, and he’ll go back to being obsessive and probably Just come here and take them. t’s very unlikely he’ll even get permission. Hin obsession will see it as a way to force your hand into telling him you are Marrin, and what he wants, deep down inside himself, beneath that obsession and what is actually driving it; is Marrin back in his life. He’s never truly let her go. That’s why the obsession exists. So, let me help you to stop that from happening by you working with me.”

Marilyn was just staring at him now. She, he knew, didn’t like what he was proposing, and a part of him could understand why, but another part of him really needed her to do this to help his friend return to the man he had once been.

Please, Marilyn, watch all that is on the USB, and we’ll meet again in about four weeks, here if you like, and try and hash out a plan of action. Do you want me to do a DNA test on the boys against Calvin as undeniable proof? I’m in his office or apartment all the time.

“I can get his DNA, I can send it to you, and you can have it tested yourself, or I can send it to Liam, and he can run it against the boys. I do not need to know the company you use, or when you run the test, I just ask you to be honest about it. This will show that I have no intention of tampering with it, and if Calvin is completely unaware, then he also can’t now can he?”

he offered up.

“I think that is a very good idea,”

Liam nodded.

“Actual proof that is undeniable for my client and yours…. Marilyn?”

he asked.

She looked at the papers and the USB, then from him to Liam and back to him, and finally nodded slowly, Fine, but if it states he’s not, I want your assurance he will never come near me or my boys again. I’ll do the test myself,”

she muttered.

“Alright on both accounts, where should I send the sample, when I get it?”

Wil asked. Finally, things were going his way. Which meant everything was going to fall into place. Marilyn was now it appeared open to knowing her past history, and maybe she would want to know what it was like too, at some point, how she and Calvin had gotten along, what their relationship had truly been. animosity or Coming here on his own and being logical, presenting all the facts, calmly and without any anger, only his desire to fix things properly, and do it the right way could a goal like this be achieved. Wil didn’t think bringing Calvin here with this knowledge would have seen this result come to a head.

Calvin he knew was going to be unhappy with him about doing all of this behind his back, but he’d have to deal with it. When the time came, and if he could keep the lines of communication open with Marilyn, in a calm and respectful manner, things should continue to work out.

Bringing them back together was going to be the issue. Marilyn’s amnesia would be the bone of contention for Calvin, but he had seen that she’d not recognised any of them at all. So, hopefully that along with her actual diagnosis from her first doctor, he would believe it was real and she wasn’t faking it.

That was the only problem he foresaw

Calvin

He’d arrived at the office to find Wil had gone, off out of town without him, and he didn’t know anything about what he was doing. The man was his company’s head lawyer, so he should always know what he was doing. Calvin had been away himself on a fact??inding mission about that company he thought was dummied up, and it had beeh.

He had confronted those that were trying to dupe him into matching a price from another organisation, that just didn’t exist at all. He had walked into that office and smiled at them and stated he’d come in person to show his genuine interest in them and their company.

They’d been happy to hear it until he’d dropped the evidence of their deceit on the table and informed them he’d not be making any dealings with them at all. That he had forwarded all the evidence on to his lawyers and to every other company he knew out there that might be willing to buy them out. So they also knew that they were just scum and liars out to make a buck, and weren’t worth their word.

Then he’d turned and walked out, refusing to hear them out even when they dropped the price right down to below his very first offer. He was no longer interested in buying their company, not even to pull it apart and sell it off, and he certainly didn’t want people like that as part of his company at all.

He’d arrived home a day ahead of his own schedule, and put a call into Wil to see just where he was. Calvin couldn’t see any business meetings on the schedule that needed Wil’s attention. Mostly, Wil dealt directly with the things Calvin was involved in and the lawyers below Wil dealt with all other company and employee business.

The man’s phone was switched off, Now that was unusual for Wil. He never turned his phone off unless he was in court, not even when on vacation, and they usually travelled together all the time. The only reason Wil hadn’t gone with him was because he’d had court to attend already, so he couldn’t. But now, no Wil and no contact with Wil; that was not normal.

He only thought about it for a minute, and put a call in to Anabell. She would definitely know his schedule. He got her message bank

“Hi, it’s Anabell Jameson, leave a message I’m in a meeting or a courtroom. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.”
