Filed To Story: The Alpha's Betrayal and Promise Novel
(Alexander)
It took me a few seconds to process what was going on. My heart raced against my cage and I found myself clenching my fists as I fought the back, the growl that I almost gave my c*hest, reminding myself that. The two of us were at the airport and that we weren’t in public and people could actually see or watch or can ask questions. The idea of us being caught as wolf was not something that I wanted to deal with, especially when I knew that people would not be able to accept us. And more specifically, some would actually send us two crazy scientists, and that was not something that I was willing to deal with.
It was something that I knew very well, especially considering the fact that others have dealt with it and that was not something that I wanted to understand or put myself through. It was just something that I tried to keep myself safe from. Therefore I just glared at the man for a few seconds as I tried to cope with what I was going to deal with, trying to clear my mind. Taking a deep breath before glaring at him.
I looked at my daughter, taking a deep breath before turning my attention to the man who was obviously one of my father’s men. His scent was far too familiar for me to actually ignore. The man was one that I knew very well. If anything, the two of us knew that he was the man that owed me his life for everything that I have done for him.
It sickened me to admit, but he was also one of MY pack members, and the fact that he so quickly chose to ignore that fact sickened me more than I could admit; however, now was not the time to talk about it. I had my daughter and wife to take care of, and that was far more important to me.
“Alexander…”
“What the f*uck do you think you are doing here, Kale?” I asked the man whose eyes widened in surprise at my tone. If anything, the man wasn’t only a member of my pack, but he was also a member that I saved. The man would have been long dead if not for me and if not for the treatment that he got from me and the medical care that he got by just being part of the pack. Had it been for anyone else, they would have let him die. But I chose to be merciful on him, therefore, to find him backstabbing me. The way that he was right now was something that came to me as a shock. Especially when I knew the efforts that I had done for him, but it seems to me like they didn’t pay off. But then again, I shouldn’t expect any less from man who was supposed to be a rogue.
“Alpha Mathew has ordered to bring you to the pack…”
“And you chose to ignore the fact that I saved your life years ago, and the fact that you would have been out on the streets if not. I do believe that you would have also been dead, but that would depend on your luck and survival skills.” I said, glaring at the man whose heart raced against his c*hest as he processed my words. “Who the f*uck are you taking for a fool because right now, I am sure as hell that it is not me or my wife.”
“I am following my Alpha’s orders, and though I am well aware that you saved my life, I cannot betray the man who has also taken me part of his pack when others chose to leave.” He said, and I frowned in confusion. The man submitting to my father was something that I couldn’t ignore, especially since my father was one of the people who wanted him dead in the first place. The man was supposed to be a rogue who was sick and. So he was in pain when we saw him and was bleeding. I had the mercy in me to bring him into my pack and treat him, but that seems to not have done it. Still, the man still came after me right now and that was not something that I could easily ignore. If anything, I knew that he would end up treating on us. Now was just an example to that. Maybe that was why my father sent him a specific maybe he wanted to prove to me that he was right and I was wrong. “What do you f*ucking mean others chose to leave? They are part of the pack and have been long before even I was their Alpha…”
“That is not something that I am permitted to discuss with you, and you know for fact that simply exposing the pack’s secret could lead to fatal consequences. My apologies, Alexander, but orders have been sent out to bring you, your wife, and daughter to the pack the second we see you. Otherwise, not only would be considered as an act of rebellion, but you would be alive, and two Alphas of one pack being alive is not something that…
I pushed my hand inside the man’s c*hest and pulled his heart out before he could say a word. I could tell that Scarlett was fighting back a scream of fear at the sight; however, I was completely quiet as I glared at the man’s b*ody for a few seconds before looking at my mate and nodding. I didn’t want her to be here. If anything, I knew that the man was dead right now. I wasn’t going to actually let him kill my wife and daughter, therefore him dying was the best option. And I knew that. My wife knew that very well. However, she was in shock and that was something that I expected.
“Take Anastasia inside, we are going to need to get out of here before he sends in more men.” I said, and Scarlett froze. Her eyes were wide in surprise and her heart raced; however, I rushed toward her, snapping her out of her daze. “Scarlett, I know that you are scared, but right now, we are going to need to run before things take a different turn of events. And believe me, if that happens, then we are in more shit that we can handle, and I am telling you, Mathew will not stop until we are all dead.”
Scarlett shook her head, snapping herself out of her confusion before she nodded in understanding. Her hands shook as she opened the car’s door, and I could tell that she was more than a little frightened; however, I was thankful for the fact that she still f*orced herself to carry out daughter toward the airport.
I turned to face the man who was a gamma in my pack. I knew that he was a strong man, and that was something that my father took or thought that he could take advantage of. I didn’t know what the rest of my pack members were doing or what their fates were, but I knew that what Kale said only meant that they left. He wouldn’t have implied it if not. And the fact that there were pack members who actually stayed behind told me those who were willing to stand by my side through thick and thin and those who could have abandoned me if needed. And though I couldn’t blame them, I couldn’t help but feel a sudden pain in my c*hest at the fact that they did choose to ignore all that was done for them because of this.
“I am sorry, Kale, but this had to be done. You would have killed my wife and daughter and that is not something that I could have allowed.” I said, lifting the man and putting him inside the car. I pulled my lighter out, thankful for the fact that the airport was a few minutes walk away. I could see Scarlett getting inside with Anastasia in her arms.
Thankfully, I was able to get us passports at a record time as I knew that we didn’t have them considering the fact that we fled and most of our things were still at the pack. Plus, traveling with our real names was not going o do us any good, especially when I knew that not even fake names worked.
Now we just had to pray for everything to run as smoothly as possible as we ran for our lives. I looked at the lighter for a few seconds, making sure that the man was dead. The last thing that I wanted was for him to suffer the pain of being burned alive.
“This was done for the best, Kale.” I said, looking at my friend’s open eyes as he lay completely still. His b*ody was void of life and that fact alone pained me more than I thought that it would, especially when I knew that it was me who killed him for simply doing what he was supposed to do. Though I wasn’t sure if I could call him any friend anymore, the man was cheating on me. He was the first person to actually backstab me the way that he did, and I didn’t know what the rest of the pack would do if they saw me. At least I didn’t know if they actually considered me as their alpha anymore or their friend and. Considering that he didn’t, I knew that others wouldn’t. Therefore, I knew that we needed to be careful now. It was scarlet and I against the whole world, and that was not something that I knew that I could deal with.
But I also need to give him the give right of actually trying to understand him. The man would have been dead if not. I believe that the whole pack would have been dead if they did not submit to my father. That was not something that I could ignore, and therefore I couldn’t blame them for anything that they did. Whether or not they chose to submit to him was not something that I could question, because I knew that they would be saving their families, themselves and their lives.
Had he not submitted, he would have ended up being a rogue like he was before, even worse, he would have been dead, and that wasn’t something that he wanted to do. I lit the lighter before throwing it inside the car, knowing that it would be taking a while before it lit up. Hopefully, we would be long out of here before that happened. The last thing that I wanted was to hear of the chaos that happened right now.
“Alex…”
“I am fine, baby girl.” I said, assuring my wife whose eyes were wide in surprise at my sight. “It is done…”
My voice was above a whisper as I fought to keep myself under control despite the stress that I was in. It was one that I never thought that it would feel before. The fact that we were going to Russia was stressful enough for me. I just still didn’t know how I was going to deal with Vladimir. The man was going to try to find his way towards what he wanted, and that was not something that I wanted to give up. But I knew for my wife and for my daughter, I need to sacrifice what I wanted and what I was up against. But for now I just needed to clear my mind and think, and that was not something that I have found myself able to do, especially since everything just kept piling up on me one after the other.
“Now, we just need to get out of here. And the faster it happens, the better the outcome…”
