“What about me? Will you… feel sorry for me and care about me?” His hoarse voice escaped his mouth.

She looked at him, a little amused. “Why do you ask? You’re my husband. I love you and care about you, but sympathy… Isn’t that inappropriate? Are you comparing yourself to Sean?”

She took his cheeks in her hands as she spoke. “Jay, I’ll never hold Sean in my heart. He’s just part of my past and doesn’t mean anything else. You’re the person I care about the most.”

With that said, her lips pressed hard against his. The tip of her

tongue gently pried open his mouth and entered, wrapping itself around his tongue.

Their saliva and breathing… fused and merged.

She wanted to tell him just how much she loved him! She wanted him to feel a**ured and not be uneasy or scared like five years ago.

“Jay, I love you. I love you no matter what happens in the future!” she muttered.

“Grace, I just want you to love me forever!”

‘And… never leave me!’

On the third day, Grace went to the procuratorate and answered a series of questions, including questions about her relationship with her mentor-Old Lawyer Watts.

Grace answered honestly.

Just as the questioning was almost over, one of the female staff members suddenly said, “Lawyer Cummins, as far as I know, you’ve had an impressive law career in L City in the past two years. Many of your connections were introduced by Lawyer Kang Milo. You even moved into Lawyer Kang’s

apartment for a while. Is there anything else going on in the relationship between both of you?”

Grace narrowed her eyes and stared at her. The staff was about her age, in her early 30s. She wore a gray business suit and had an average-looking face that seemed a little hostile.

Grace glanced at the badge on her chest… Li Peiyuan.

“Prosecutor Li, your question is out of line. You can only ask me questions relevant to the case, not personal questions about my mentor and me.”

“But Damian Harmon reported that you have an illicit relationship with your mentor, so he deliberately lost the lawsuit. Shouldn’t you explain your relationship with your mentor?” she said hostilely.

“I’ve already told you everything I need to say about my relationship with my mentor. I don’t have to tell you anything irrelevant unless you can prove what you’re asking is relevant to the lawsuit and it’s going to constitute a complete chain of evidence!”

“You… Grace, you’re being questioned right now!” roared Li Peiyuan.

“But I’m not a prisoner! Prosecutor Li, I can bring this up to your supervisor if you continue to make things difficult,” Grace

said calmly.

Li Peiyuan’s expression turned grim, and her colleague at the side hurriedly smoothed things over by saying, “Alright, Miss Cummins, we’re done questioning you today. You can go home now.”

Grace got up and turned to leave.

The colleague looked at Li Peiyuan and said, “What came over you? Your question was indeed out of line. We must be objective instead of making presumptions.”

Li Peiyuan snapped. “She just has nothing to fear because she’s Jason’s wife!”

“As you said, she’s Jason’s wife. Do you think Jason will let her off easily if she does have something going on with her mentor? Will she still be able to be fearless?” they asked.

Li Peiyuan was instantly speechless.

As soon as Grace emerged from the procuratorate, she was mobbed by reporters who asked questions about various speculation regarding Grace and her mentor.

Several bodyguards beside Grace kept the reporters at bay.

“Miss Cummins, you quickly went from an unknown lawyer to someone who was in demand in L. City. Did you reach a deal with Old Lawyer Watts to exchange fame for S**? Someone said your daughter, Jasper Reed, is actually Old Lawyer Watts’s illegitimate daughter. Is it true?”

A reporter suddenly asked out loud. Grace immediately stopped dead in her tracks and turned to look sharply at the reporter.” Apologize!”

“What?” The reporter paused.

“Saying such things without any facts is equivalent to spreading rumors. Shouldn’t you apologize? I want you to apologize to me, my mentor, and my daughter!” Grace said coldly.

The reporter got excited. “If you think what I said is wrong, tell us the truth and deny the rumor yourself! Otherwise, it just means you and Lawyer Kang Milo have something to hide. Your daughter is probably Lawyer Kang’s illegitimate daughter!”

With a cold gaze, Grace raised her hand to slap them in the face but a hand suddenly grabbed hers.

She was momentarily stunned. The person who grabbed her hand was Jason.

“Jay, what are you doing here?” she asked in confusion.

“I came to pick you up, but it seems I came just in time,” said Jason.

The reporter was instantly smug when he saw that Jason had come. He even grabbed Grace’s hand when she wanted to hit him. “Mr. Reed, you must be dying to know the relationship between your wife and her mentor, as well as whether that daughter of hers is yours or Lawyer-”

Before he could finish speaking, Jason raised his foot and kicked the reporter to the ground.

Jason said nonchalantly, “Sorry, my legs are too long. I didn’t hear you just now. Repeat what you said.”

Though he said so, Jason did not lift his foot off the reporter. Jason’s dark eyes peered down at him with an indifference that terrified the reporter.

A sudden fear swept over him. He could even sense that he might not be able to get up from the ground if he repeated his words.

“Mr. Reed… It… It was just nonsense… I… I didn’t mean it…” the reporter quickly stammered.

The others around them dared not raise their phones or cameras anymore.

This was Young master Reed of Emerald City! No one dared to film him. If they did, they could forget about staying in Emerald City starting tomorrow.

His cold voice rang out. “You’re not going to repeat it? Listen here, then. Jasper Reed’s my daughter and I know very well what kind of person my wife is. You reporters can cover news, but if you want to slander my wife and my daughter, you’re making yourselves enemies of the Reed family.””

Jason was not only talking to the reporter he was stepping on but also the people around them.

The reporter was being stepped on so hard that his chest ached. He could only repeatedly agree with Jason, while those around them did not dare to speak.

Who would be so stupid as to make themselves enemies of the Reed family?

It was only when Jason and Grace left that they breathed a sigh of relief.

The reporter who was stepped on awkwardly got up and walked toward the parking lot with his tail between his legs. He talked to himself as he walked, “Pfft. What the hell? She’s probably just guilty. Just wait for me to write this story!”

However, before he got into his car, two people grabbed him on both sides.

He immediately recognized that the two men holding him were the bodyguards beside Jason earlier. He instantly felt a chill running down his spine.
