“I was just saying,” muttered Mrs. Sweeney.

“Alright, alright. Mom, Dad, I’ll have nothing to do with Hadwin Stephenson after it’s all over. We should be able to go home in a couple of days,” Lina said quickly, scared that her parents would quarrel over her again.

However, when they asked the bodyguards when they could leave, they said, “Mr. Stephenson hasn’t given us the orders, but but you three can go back once he permits it.”

“Can you contact Hadwin Stephenson and ask him?” asked Lina.

“Miss Sweeney, you can contact Mr. Stephenson yourself. Mr. Stephenson said he has never changed his phone number. You can contact him at any time.”

Lina fell silent at that.

She stared at the phone in her hand. She was alone in her room that night but did not dial Hadwin Stephenson’s phone number.

She had deleted Hadwin Stephenson’s phone number from her phone.

However, that number had long been imprinted in her mind. Even if she tried hard not to think about it and forget it, his phone number was still so vivid in her mind.

‘Should I contact Hadwin Stephenson?’ Lina hesitated. She did not make the call but buried herself in the covers like an ostrich.

She constantly told herself, ‘Even if Hadwin Stephenson isn’t engaged to Katherine Jackson anymore and they have no feelings for each other, it’s not going to happen between him and me!

Lina gradually fell asleep as she thought about it in a daze.

She only opened her eyes when she felt thirsty. She got up to get a drink. She picked up the gla** by the bedside table and took a sip from the water she had not finished drinking before falling asleep earlier.

She was still drinking when her sleepy eyes met another pair of eyes in the room. They instantly widened. She choked on herself and coughed drily.

“Ahem… Ahem, ahem…” Lina awkwardly put the gla** aside, staring blankly at Hadwin Stephenson who was sitting on the chair in her room.

He was wearing a navy blue suit with a black shirt. His bangs were combed back, and he was dressed in the same clothes she had seen in the video earlier today when the reporters surrounded him to interview him.

Lina suddenly had a rather strange feeling. After all, she had just watched a news video of him during the day. Now, he was right in front of her.

The two stared at each other without speaking.

After a long time, Lina could not help but blink and say to Hadwin Stephenson, “It’s… late.”

“I know.” His magnetic baritone voice filled the room.

‘He knows? Then why is he still in my room? Okay, it’s not really my room since he owns the entire apartment.’

“What are you doing here so late?” she asked after hesitating a little.

“I just wanted to see you,” he said. He felt happy just sitting here and watching her sleep.

Her sleeping posture was as unattractive as ever. He watched her occasionally grind her teeth and roll about on the bed. It reminded him of their past together.

It was a wonderful time for him.

Hadwin Stephenson said, “You slept soundly but almost rolled off the bed. Maybe I should make a bigger bed for you so you won’t fall off it so easily.”

Lina was speechless. ‘Did he come here in the middle of the night just to see me… roll on the bed?”

“By the way, I saw the news today. I should be okay now. When can I go home with my parents?” Lina asked right away. Since he was here, she did not have to call him anymore.

“Are you anxious to get home?” he asked.

“Duh! No one likes being restricted all the time, do they?” she said.

He was silent.

She paused and continued saying, “Hadwin Stephenson, I don’t know what’s going on between you and Katherine Jackson. I don’t want to get involved either. I heard Katherine Jackson’s remarks at the press conference today. This matter will be over as long as we have no further contact.”

His expression sank slightly. “You don’t want to be in contact with me anymore?”

She answered him affirmatively, “Yes. Hadwin Stephenson, I thought I made it very clear to you the other day.”

“What if I refuse?” he asked as he stood up and moved closer to her.

She was suddenly amused. “Refuse? Who are you to refuse? We’ve broken up. It was you who broke up with me! Have you come to me again because you’ve broken up with Katherine Jackson and have no feelings for her? What am I? A fallback girl?”

A look of pain flashed through his eyes. “You were never a fallback girl!”

She snapped, “But you’ve been treating me like a fallback girl! Hadwin Stephenson, you don’t have to love me and you can choose to break up with me. But please take relationships seriously. I’m human too. I get emotional. Even if I have no money and power, I’m not someone you can order around!”

He approached the bed and suddenly leaned over with both hands on the sides of her body. He looked at her intently.

“Lina, I’ve never thought of you as someone I can order around.”

‘I think of you as my everything!’

She stared blankly at the face that had suddenly approached her. She met his deep and beautiful eyes. She fell into a trance for a moment before quickly coming to her senses and backing away in panic.

However, she was leaning against the headboard of the bed now. There was no more room for retreat. His face got closer to hers. “Lina, do you know how much I missed you?”

His husky voice had a touch of seduction in it, affecting Lina’s mood.

Lina looked away, avoiding Hadwin Stephenson’s eyes. She was scared she could not control herself and would fall for the man again if she saw his eyes up close.

He did not seem bothered with her reaction and continued with a husky voice, “For five years, I thought about you and regretted my actions every day. If I had been less confident and more cautious, then all this would not have happened. Maybe we would’ve been married and had children now…”

Lina quivered slightly. “That’s enough. Hadwin Stephenson, what’s the point in saying this now?”

“It’s not enough! How can it be enough? I want you to know that I never loved Katherine Jackson. You’re the only one I love!” He finally uttered the words he had been keeping in his heart for five years.

In the past five years, he had only told himself this because he was devising a plan to take on the Jackson family. He could not make the same mistakes again!

Lina’s breathing instantly hitched. She turned around and stared at Hadwin Stephenson with wide eyes as though she could not believe it.

“I love you. I’ve never loved anyone but you. I only got together with Katherine Jackson to reclaim the Stephenson family and bring the Jackson family-”

However, before he could finish, she interrupted him, “Did you say you’ve never loved anyone but… me?”

“Yes,” he said with great certainty.

“I’m… the one you love?” she continued asking.

“Yes.” The same affirmative answer came out of his mouth.

She stared blankly at him before suddenly smiling. “You love me and you always have, but… you can give up love to reclaim the Stephenson family for wealth and power, right? And now you’re here looking for love because you got your wealth and power back?”

Her smile made him burst into panic as he sensed that she was getting further and further away from him.

She was right in front of him. He could easily touch her by raising his hand!

“No, Lina. Listen to me…”

“What more is there to say? Hadwin Stephenson, we’ve never been in the same league. I couldn’t help you like Katherine Jackson, so you chose to break up with me. You’ll dump me again if you encounter a crisis in your career in the future and need a second Katherine Jackson, won’t you?”

“No, I won’t dump you again. As long as you… still love me, I have faith that I’ll find a solution no matter how difficult things are.” As long as she was willing to stay with him, he would fight tooth and nail to remove the obstacles in between them.

However, the answer he got was… “Sorry, I don’t love you anymore.”

      I read some chapters on another site..
      It’s the complete book, this particular chapter 731 is chapter 1,500 there… so this particular author compresses 3 chapters to make one here that’s why it’s shorter here…
      Martin Weiss will rape Kyla and she will get pregnant again..but long story short..

    (OBSERVATION: From the previous chapters, some part of it we couldn’t see the words, some were mispelt while some were mixed up and some sentences weren’t complete , so it got some of us guessing what was said…

Thanks for the update, I love this story, the author is amazing, though I found Hadwin behavior is solely to keep Lina out of danger but, he should have found a way to explain things to her not coming back after five years to be welcomed with open arms, not withstanding I hope Lina will give him a second chance since she’s still single, please and please no more hurting for Grace and Jason and I hope secretary Wang will disclose the third child whereabout, I felt pity for Martin Weiss , more updates please.
